Suggestion: Pour out the sugar in your canister - then - add new sugar - then add the bottom sugar back in. Otherwise, the old sugar is always on the bottom and never used. You are motivating me to declutter.
That was my thought as well. I always dump the old into a temporary container, put the new in the storage container, then pour the old on top. Food gets rotated and avoids getting stale. This is especially true for spices which don’t have a long shelf life.
That's what I do too. It is truly the only way to clean a smooth top stove. It also helps to use a smooth top stove cleaner first as well. It tends to weaken the burnt on stuff making it easier to scrap off.
Hi Sumer, thanks for reminding me about the importance of Spring cleaning, as well as cleaning in the Fall before we enter Winter. I love the way you keep your home looking great and love your gardening tips and techniques too! Thank you
Your enthusiasm is so contagious! I have been procrastinating about cleaning my cupboards since I did them before Christmas! So many things to donate...thank you Summer for the boost!💥
Those cabinets are actually nice mid century cabinets. You may want to sand and apply a coat of poly, if needed, and switch out the knobs for more modern or upscale ones.
@@sumgoodstuff9995 it's different when you live with something every day isn't it? If you are happy with the layout you could maybe get new doors and drawer fronts.
I just did spring cleaning here in South Florida the weather is in the 70’s no humidity today. I have all the windows opened and my Gardenia Bush is full so I picked some and placed around my home. Thank you Summer for sharing, have a Blessed day❤️
Oh, I love Gardina's. they have a light and beautiful Frangrance. My mom loved them, and we had two in the Garden in the Summer, and brought them in the house in the Winter . I live in Massachusetts.
For a glass top stove I was recommended to use the glass top stove polish at least once a week. Use a razorblade scraper to get the crud off. If possible do it daily, it actually fills in the surface of the glass and makes it easier to clean. I have an ancient gas stove now and I miss the glass.
I have asked many times about your kitchen cabinets. I noticed in this video that they are in very good condition. A simple refresh/door fronts would do with new hardware. Welcome to Spring. I have been cleaning up my kitchen and restocking the frozen foods and pantry items. I'm always restocked. I even bought glass jars from Big Lots and Spices from the discount stores and created a shelf of spices that add to my decor. Blessings Jay & Summer.
I have a glass to stove and I clean it with stuff specifically advertised to clean glass top stoves. It works great for getting the burned stuff off and leaves it nice and shiny.
Use an oven cleaner! Spray it all over the stove top, cover it with plastic wrap and leave it over night. I’m the morning you can just wipe everything away!
Glass stove top - use a razor blade to scrape off the burnt food. I do this with mine and it does not scratch or harm the glass. It works and my old glass stove looks new.
Your cabinets remind me of the ones my uncle made when he built his house back in the 50s. Are they as eye catching and in style…no. Are they extremely well built and will outlast the modern cabinets I have in my house? absolutely. I think us Americans put to much emphasis on looking up to date when what we already have worked fine and is way more than people have in most countries.
luckily I am keeping the cabinets! They are very well built. I am just adding fronts (like what I did in my bathroom & bedroom) and want to paint them!
I love to watch you clean the kitchen and it gets me inspired again. I also have a glass top stove and I use a glass top cleaner and then the rest I take a razor blade scrapper and razor off all the black that won't come off with the regular cleaning. Mine comes like new like it is off the showroom store. For any pans stainless steel that I have I used barkeepers friend liquid in the inside and use a brush as you have and the inside comes like brand new pans out of the box. Love that stuff and it has tons of uses. I also wondered if baking soda sprinkled on the stove top with some dawn dish liquid and water scrubbed with your brush might work. I know baking soda has just a tiny bit of abrasion in it but not horribly so, so I think it might work as well. I am sure many others have their favorite hacks as well. One thing I won't give up the the razor blade scrapper........it takes the junk off as if it would cleaning paint off of window glass. Just a thought on all those things............... Love your channel. Blessings
I used baking soda, water and a rag on my flat top electric stove. It's like using Comet but not abrasive. If that doesn't work well enough I would dissolve a dish washer tab in a couple cups of water and soak a rag in it then leave it on the hard spots for several hours. Keep it wet with this solution. Hope this helps.
This video made me feel great. I got inspired and I'm going at my house walls with this whole so fresh n so clean attitude!!! My home will look n smell so great afterwards. Thanks for the stovetop cleaning tip also. My range always gets little hard to wipe off spots and I'm going to try this out. 😁

Hello Summer. Stove top . I clean those burnt on bits with very very fine steel wool soap pads . Not sure if you can get them where you live as I am in Australia. They do work a treat. Also do the same on the glass in my shower in the bathroom.
Great job, Summer. I go through my fridge and cabinets every week before the trash and recycling truck comes. I can't handle waste and what my husband refers to as biology experiments. In this day we live in it's good to learn how to use everything.
If you are not comfortable using a razor blade on your glass cook top , try making a paste with some bi carb soda and some vinegar ....apply to burnt area ...leave about 30 mins and use a plastic scraper.
You are uber organized! You said you were going to donate the 4 bowl set. Why not put them in the yard sale? My pet peeve is squeaky hinges. Spray a little WD40 on your cabinet hinges and no more squeaks.😊
Paprika - try smoked paprika instead of plain. It is so much better and has a great flavor. I use it in egg salad, and in mild sausage when cooking for breakfast or soups. LOVE smoked paprika!
Try scraping your glass oven top with a razor blade, that should take that burn stuff off and as long as you keep the razor blade flat against the top it's not going to give you any scratches.
You read my mind summer. I want to redo my cabinets also, but it will be a big project for me..I want to paint my old wood cabinets light to med grey. You Go girl, I've been tackling cleaning stuff one Saturday at a time. ♡
Always wash walls starting at the bottom. Otherwise you may have streaks from water accidentally washing down on the dirty wall. Also, you can try using baking soda to get the burned areas off your stove top.
On your stovetop use a razor blade on it after you rub in the cleaning agent. Just be careful to hold it at a angle so you don’t scratch the stove. Works great
Great video! I always wanted a glass stove top, what I wouldn't give for the old coil burners again! I hate cleaning the glass! Great to see a review on the cereal! Have a great week & give Grandma some love!😘
Love it! I have very basic color in my kitchen but I love cute dish towels for my oven handle. That's my "splurge." 😊 Also, my Dad is allergic to paprika so I don't even have it in my house anymore. I use a razor blade on my glass stove top and then just a vinegar/water spray for degreasing. And I love the free printable cleaning schedule from The Secret Slob. I need checklists.
Try using a razor blade to get that off of the stove top. I just use window cleaner and a scotch brite pad to clean my glass top. Then take a couple of paper towels and wipe it off.
I have a glass cooktop as well and use the cream cleaner from Grove with a scratch resistant scrubbie. Then once it’s all cleaned (it removes all caked on junk), I use Sprayway glass cleaner to shine it up! Works great 👍
Use a razor blade to scrape the top careful not to scratch. My ex did that with his and it was always clean. As another person said good to rotate you spices, flour etc by pouring out the old into a bowl and adding new and putting old on top.
That Lysine supplement is great, I take it every day for cold sores! I haven't had one in 5 years. I see you use a Gethro bowl to for your cereal! The bigger the bowl the better! I use a razor blade scraper on my glass stove top, just spray with cleaner then use the scraper. Have a great week..
If/when you redo your cabinets and if you don’t want to keep those knobs I’d LOVE to buy them from you! I’ve looked for similar ones online and can’t find any :( and I just love them so much!
I am inspired to start a deeeeeep declutter. So many things have been given/gifted/ handed down to us - how do you get over the “so-and-so have this to me so I should keep it” guilt???
I’m pretty good about asking myself if I’ll miss it if it’s gone and realizing if it’s not serving me well (I don’t use it) or it doesn’t bring my happiness that I’d rather allow someone else to have the item!! Also, for me - clutter causes me stress so I only want things I truly use!
Paper clutter is the worst, receipts, junk mail, paper bills and envelopes... it all drives me crazy! I have a very large clunky gas stove that gets so dirty, I would love a stove like yours seems so much easier to clean with the flat top.
Always thought I wanted a gas stove. Now that I have one, I'm not impressed. I cook a lot of soups and stews in the winter and the flame just doesn't go low enough for a simmer. I end up putting one grate on top of another for the simmer I want. I will say if you want to boil something ASAP - it works like a champ!
Summer, I know how much staying healthy and pollution safe means to you, with frequent cleaning and your air purifier etc. But when you mentioned wanting a gas stove I had to post and tell you about the latest research on gas stoves in homes. I always wanted one too because I grew up using one and it has advantages for cooking control, but they have found that even when a gas stove isn't on, and there is an exhaust fan to the outside, there are toxic products off-gassing into the house that cause asthma in children and is bad for adults with COPD. Many chefs who used to swear by gas are switching to electric for that reason. Even gas furnaces give off these bad products and are not good for us to live with. I just read about this a week ago and shared it with my family and friends, and if you do a search I'm sure you will find it for yourself. I'm old now and a cancer survivor but I also have COPD and my husband has asthma so I was glad I found out about the dangers of gas stoves and furnaces. I can't change anything about our forced air gas furnace - we live in Canada and use the heat for more than half the year - but I can give up on wanting a gas stove thank goodness. I hope you see this and your subscribers too, and check it out to see that I'm not making this up. My first home that I grew up in, which was a Victorian house back in England, had gas lighting as well as the gas stove, and my mother died of lung cancer, so I'm very aware of the dangers of air pollution. Even today Britain has the worst statistics of all Europe for lung troubles like asthma and bronchitis, etc. Since the industrial revolution began there and gas was used for everything it has left its legacy in the health of the people today.

This is what I do. Wetting the surface with your favorite multi-surface cleaner will help lessen the chances of scratches.
