I was there, I lived in Spain at the time. Spain was divine then, incredibly romantic, fabulous food and wine, great people, cheap to live and an expat's dream, not too far removed from what it was when Hemingway wrote about it. Now of course, it's overrun with sunburned, hairy legged Brits and Germans in socks and sandals. Ick. The flavor of Spain is mostly gone, the Nordic hordes have taken over the place. Spain and Italy are still the best countries in Europe though. Stay away from the cold dark cities of the north, the sun never shines up there.
Spain is not a true capitalist nation as the government is constantly interfering with the property markets using taxpayer funds to keep the prices high ? its banks are paying only a 1% saving rate, but official inflation is 9.8% - so there is NO WAY spain is a capitalist country with a free market economy. the government takes most opportunities for itself and its bank cronies. leaving little else for the general population but rent servitude. its had it best days.
Welcome to the jungle baby. Como dice el amigo Axl.
Spain is not a real capitalist nation as the government is constantly interfering with the property markets using taxpayer funds to keep the prices artificially high. its banks are paying only a 1% saving rate, but official inflation is 9.8% - so there is NO WAY spain is a capitalist country with a free market economy. the government takes most opportunities for itself and its bank cronies. leaving little else for the general population but rent servitude. its collapsing right now, but i would expect 15 years of devastating stagflation to follow next.
