The fact that people are dismissing Bryant shows why the fitness industry is lost. Kids see someone who's jacked and think you know how to train other people and buy their worthless programs whereas Bryant knows what the hell he's doing despite that he might not fit your narrow criteria of what he should look like. I guess Boris Sheiko doesn't know anything either since he's overweight according to the logic I'm seeing in these comments.
Cykablyat I wouldn't say its lost if the top lifters in this industry actually do listen to him. Let the rest of them get lost. Don't want em anyway
These fucking kids don't know. You're preaching to a collection of degenerates who idolize logan paul or pewdodoo or whatever the fuck these idiots watch these days. It drives me up a wall to know that guys like josh aren't the recognized experts. It doesn't matter though, those jackasses can continue watching their bro's, and the wise will listen to people like josh.
I’ve been searching for neck strengthening exercises for bjj for years and somehow never found this. Thanks!!!
30 reps in and my neck is on fire
I swear. I did this last summer my neck was getting swoler by the day
Neck training has become my new passion. 30 minutes every day with heavy resistance, it seems to recover very fast.
With great neck, comes great responsibility. Good session.....Thankyou.
Thanks for the workout advice it looks cool.
Awesome video, straight to the point
Josh is awesome. His channel honestly has some of thr best workout ideas.
I can see how this will get faster results some with all the cement in their heads!
Thank You for the tip! Much appreciated!
This is great man! Awesome!
As a kid i boxed golden glove, my coach gave me a racquet ball, put it under my chin & told me 2 press down on it till i was too sore 2 do it anymore !! When i woke up the next morning I couldn't raise my head off the pillow !!!
I was looking for side neck workouts thanks for this.
Thanks for sharing this info.
So I knew I needed to work on my neck, but holy shit that was hard! Going to add this into my physio for my neck pain. Feels great !
Wow, dude, that was outstanding tutorial! So grateful for you to share this. I already feel my upper spine pain is gone.
Cheers. 👍
Got to the point where i can keep going til the last exercise without pausing for 3 sec before going back at it again. Whoop whoop.
Boom! Great stuff as always with Josh!
Awesome advices! Thank you.
Great training, and very useful for motorsports!
THESE ARE KILLER. THANKS YALL!
Just started jiu jitsu a couple weeks ago. Going to throw this in as a warmup for my lifts! Tried it today and it’s killer.
Josh bryant! A legend!
Great workout 👍 video
great video, thanks
I train his workouts on a regular basis never made such a big increase in gains until now
Got these done with 10 rep sets. This is legit.
On my second day, good Gawd my neck is sore. Thanks Josh.
Good workout! It wasn't as intense as I expected with 20 reps for each set but I felt it. I started doing neck training with weights and bands a few weeks ago so maybe that helped prepare me. I will definitely keep using it and add reps.
I love it! I’m 61 and I don’t want that old man sunken neck look. I’m going to do these twice a week. Thanks
This is too simple to work Josh. I need something extreme even though I dont do anything for my neck now at all...I saw these crossfit guys headbutting 20lb wall balls for timed AMRAPs....Im gonna jump into that routine instead, keep training your world record benchers, I got this
Be sure to do max effort headbutting wall balls before the AMRAP with a wreaking ball so you develop a snap resistant neck. You'll definitely be gas station ready after that.
The still image at the end got me😅
Wise advices and, hopefuly effective excercices, thanks buddy
Great video. I tryed it rightaway and its f hard. This is difficult, but seems so easy lol. :) thy
I've been doing these as a warm up before getting on the 4-way neck machine for over 30 years. I wrestled, but after completing my competitive career, I found neck bridges to be dangerous and unnecessary. The exercises demonstrated in the video are great for the average civilian wishing to eradicate his pencil neck.
I had to come back to this post and thank you. Some how I stumbled on this video. Tried the exercises for a few days and suddenly my screeching tinnitus of 4 years is almost non existent. Thank You for this inner peace for however long it lasts. What could it be/mean?
This works I've been doing it for a month. I'm up to doing 50 reps for each 5 exercises. 5 sets about a minute in between each. My neck has went from 16 to 18.5. Hopefully i can get up to 20
2.5 inches in 1 month? I doubt it bro. But I'm going to try it anyway and take your word for it
how big is your neck now? you can increase its size without weights? nice!
@@Elijah-fc3ex Remember, to have a big neck your frame has to be also considered. You can't have a huge neck if you're a twig lol
Excelent
How often should I do this exercise. Thanks
I remember doing this when I snapped my ankle.
How about working the neck extensors?
Josh is a Alpha BEAST!
Thnx
Can I do this every day?
I'm a bit confused. He doesn't look like he is laying completely flat. Is he flexing his abs to lift his head and shoulders up off the ground a bit before starting?
The homie got big lifts. Ever since Moorpark College
Wow my neck is burning
Renato Laranja told me that strong neck or weak neck don't matter cause you go to sleep anyways
Why is it that whenever I add some size to my neck, after a week half of the gains disappear even though I am still training neck?
the pic at the end lmao
In this video, guys have regular necks, maybe even small for their size, so why they did not apply the training they suggest in this video?
Bro this workout is no joke lol
Where do you buy the device hes lying on??
Tried this today between my sets of pull ups and squat ...whooo never was so tired by training will follow this 1 or 2mont and go to neck 101
Would repeating the sequence while facing down have any benefit?
Yes but honestly a better workout is FitWorldExposed's 19 inch neck workout
How to progressive overload this? Like if youve reached 100 reps what do now?
Weight of course. Either get a neck harness or just put the weght on your head but wear a beanie
just did this routine, feels like I got my head cut off by Tom Cruise in the Last Samurai
This is A lot harder than it looks
@Mark Bell. I have done the same exercise with weights, 300 nos each with perfect form for 2 months. But no neck gain. Also I heard neck muscles grow the fastest. What do you think would have been the problem.
Hey man, obviously I’m not mark bell. But I couldn’t tell you why those workouts weren’t working other than the fact that since the neck is a constantly active muscle and is always working, to increase strength gains within it u don’t need to add weight but more reps.
I did this neck training for one summer and went into college with a 19 inch neck. So it totally works.
I know often times the thiught is throwing more weight at something will make it stronger but because the physiology of the neck muscles aren’t that of say ur chest or legs they will benefit more from heavy volume. Maybe try that out!!
Just did this my neck is sore lol
What about the back on the neck, this is where mine feels the weakest. Same thing but on stomach?
Dam my neck is sore💪🏾
how many sets for each exercise?
1x15-20 each way starting out. Then u can really feel ur improvement in ur neck to up the sets or reps
it works...
Hey Josh,
Serious question - do you find that guys who build up their necks tend to end up with sleep apnea? Apparently there is a strong correlation between neck size and sleep apnea, I do zero neck training but my neck is already almost as wide as my head. I think using a safety squat bar is the biggest contributor to that. I'm also about 250lbs right now so I'm at the point where sleep apnea could become a serious concern, what are your thoughts on this?
@@JTfishing6130 Maybe being fatter increases the risk more, but Stan Efferding say he has sleep apnea. According to him, once you are over 240lbs the risk is high, and of course the bigger your neck the higher the odds. Being big and strong is cool, but once you get to the point that you need a machine strapped to your face so you can sleep you have to question whether it's worth it or not. My neck grew a lot from doing SSB squats.
@@chrisottawa8096 Yeah, hmm, interesting, i also think fat increases the risk but bodybuilders on lot's of gear who don't even train neck tend to get pretty large necks and they seem at greater risk for sleep apnea even when relatively lean. But yeah, there seems to be a point when one gets over a certain weight the risk increases.
I at one point weighed 280 lbs. at 6.2 (very high fat percentage) when i was powerlifting/olympic lifting and trained neck really heavy naturally but never had problems with sleep apnea.
It's something to be wary of for sure.
Josh - also what do you think about bands? Do they work for building size on the neck? I have the Neck Flex.
Would this get you a big neck if you didn't eventually add weight?
And what about neck extension?
How would you overload that program from a progressive resistance standpoint?.
Ralph Cornwell you can use your hand as resistance, pushing a bit of force on the side of the head. awesome technique and also is 100% adjustable. make sure to keep your shoulders up from the floor though
Just did it but I should of done it slow hahaha I had to take bit of break during 5 reps and then do another 5 reps
My neck burnt like I have never felt before
KIRK SHRUGS
Nothing for the back of the neck? I assume you would just do the opposite of the front of the neck, but are you supposed to do any back of the neck or not?
Yes do the opposite. Do exactly what he did in the video but just lay on your stomach.
Should've redone the intro as soon as he stuttered for the first time lol
All I’ve gotta say if you see the most strongest biggest power lifters and even Brian Shaw 4x worlds strongest man they all stand by jail house strong’s ways of routine, for an even bigger proof of point SC Big Boy was a prisoner who came out and became a very explosive power lifter and was even coach by mark bell who uses jail house strong methods of training, what more do people need to see !!?!?
He gots the juice jaw 🤣
👏♥️👏👏👏👏
Is that Luke Cage LOL?
Does anyone get headache in the front while doing this? I'm i the only one?
Do you have to be lying down?
Why not just all the way from one side to the other?
okay I'll just look people passing by
Should have had a few more takes at the start, I could barely make out what he said XD
Josh Bryant is the man he doesn’t do any of that annoying bullshit scripted talking.
First 30 seconds sound like a Ken Patera promo 🤣 good shit though
When you wanna graduate from a bedroom,uh from a bedroom to a bar one that scares people in a baroom your gonna have to build a big neck.
Just get a Neck Flex bruh
Any alphadestiny fans here?
What about progressive overload? Should I add weight to this excercise? and if so, how? (I don´t have neck machines available at my local gym)
+Grizzly Strength
I´ll start by using my hand.
In fact, it worked yesterday. I normally workout with a cracky neck. I practiced this prior to the workout and my neck didn´t do any weird noises, it felt healthier that ever.
I´ll probably add some pressure with my hand in some more sessions.
Thank you!
@@achilloste6265 Never got to do it, but back and trap excercises have made the bottom of my neck get swollen!
Can I do this training laying in bed
Yes as long as you in a comfortable position. You can even perform neck exercises while sitting in traffic or at your office desk
What about neck bridges you neglected the whole back side of the neck.
Can i train my neck everyday ?
Gustavo Leal Gomes Hey! As most exercises, training it everyday isn’t the way to get the most progress. Plus the neck isn’t something you want to risk putting to much pressure on. Train it 2-3 times a week.
Gustavo Leal Gomes yes, you need too. Im recovering from a traffic collision. In fact, I do this 3-4x/day. Just this and some other stretches
That isn't how you train neck, especially for sport. It takes building actual strength to prevent injury, and the neck is capable of substantial strength. (You might do this kind of minimalist work if you're rehabbing an injured neck, or for some active recovery between training sessions, for the sole purpose of pumping blood into the area, but not to actually build substantial muscle mass and protective strength.)
Check out Mike the machine Bruce if you wanna actually put size and strength on your neck, especially if you're an athlete. His YT channel is practically dedicated to effective neck training.
Nothing to do with hate. I left a positive comment/thumbs up on Josh's other video about benching here on ST, not 15 minutes after I left this comment. This neck vid is gimmicky nonsense.....a complete departure from Josh's solid advice on benching.
Craig Golias
iron neck great piece of equipment
Never skip neck day, bro
