    Good video.
It's always important to put God first, and to be thankful to Him: puts everything else into perspective.

    Good teaching.
We are saved by faith and not by doing good deeds, but where there is genuine, saving faith it will always be ACCOMPANIED BY good deeds. As James says: "Faith without works is dead" (James 2:26).
Roman Catholics go wrong by saying that Christians partly earn their salvation. But the Free Grace Theology movement goes wrong at the other extreme by saying that someone can be saved without repenting of their sins.
And it is absolutely right too to say that we will gain rewards when Jesus judges us. Some Christians will be even more blessed than others on the new earth, although even the least well off will have inexpressible joy.

@Strava 89 There is indeed no saviour except the Jewish God, but the Jewish God is also the Christian God, since Jesus is the promised Jewish Messiah.
I think by "Noahide Commandments" you mean the commandments in Gen 9:1-6. If you do, then I think you are probably right that Gentiles are obligated to follow them.
But this is a different issue from what John Piper is talking about in this video. In the video he is talking about salvation from sin. No one does in fact do God's will perfectly, so we need to be rescued from our sins. God's appointed method of doing this was to give His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins, and for us to take hold of that by faith. Our faith in Christ is credited to us as uprightness in the same way that Abraham's faith was credited to him as uprightness (Gen 15:6).

Thank you, John Piper. I have tried without success to explain to my daughter and son-in-law who are Catholic (son-in-law is a deacon in the Catholic Church), that works (fruit) is evidence (confirmation) of your salvation, not the result. I think that Paul, my son-in-law, believes that it is his duty to always, always perform works in his life to keep his salvation. Oh, how I pray that my family, whom I love beyond words to express, could see the difference. Diane in NC

What makes you think John Piper is more correct than the Catholic Church?

    • @jimmiepatrum
      @jimmiepatrum 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@kathleenwharton2139 It's not that I think John Piper is correct other than what he is saying in this video agrees with what the Bible says. It would be fine to be Catholic so long as that belief doesn't contradict what the Bible says. Works are not the way to keep your salvation according to the Bible. Salvation is a gift of God's grace, not a result of works. Contradicting the Bible is treading on very dangerous ground. Diane in NC

What the bible really says is.. Jesus Said.."Seek Me and My Righteousness.". Jesus Said to Seek Him. Jesus Never Said to seek a church or a man. God is a Living God. He is Not a book or a church or a man. Why do you not just Seek Jesus? Like He asked you to?

What is unbiblical about? "if you love Me..Keep my commandments.". Why would you say Jesus is unbiblical and say what Paul and piper said are correct. The catholic church has Added Way Too Much to Jesus Gospel..but they are every bit as correct as piper. Neither one of them are correct.

Both of them are correct too! Jesus is Gods Grace to us! He brings us Gods Commandments and Help to Obey them..knowing we will never be Perfect at it and offers forgiveness. But we certainly should be trying! Jesus Mercy and the commandments are Equally Important!

The Fruit that lasts Forever..is Gods Mercy and Grace for You. Seek God HimSelf! Every man and every church and religion have a different definition of what Gods Mercy and Grace are for You. You will never know what Gods Mercy and Grace is for you..as long as you are seeking men and their definitions.

God..HimSelf..is the Fruit that lasts Forever. God is a Living God! He is not a book. He is not a man reading a book. Seek God..For YourSelf! Even the Samaritan woman understood this better than you people.

I read the Bible. Jesus Helped me read it and He showed me what I needed. Jesus Said..”Seek Me and My Righteousness.” That is what I do. Paul set up the church with titled men. I tried many churches. I was mislead and Harmed. I Seek Jesus. He is the Best Teacher! You can seek whoever you please..but I prefer Jesus.

Just how Righteous are Men? There is the answer to your bible. What do we need Jesus for? If men are so righteous?

I don't want to insult your intelligence..but how can you ever justify seeking your "righteous?" men who wrote the bible to Seeking Jesus HimSelf? And you are seeking a man who is reading and interpreting other men. Just how accurate can that be? Why do you not just Seek Jesus..HimSelf? Like He asked you to?

I do not care if you follow everybody in the Bible..Paul and piper. I will follow Jesus and I will certainly stand up for Him whenever the Need arises.
