As an old soldier who served for 25 years I am glad they are exempt. When we go into battle the last thing we need is equipment failure because of some stupid green weenie EGR or DEF fluid causing failures that will impact missions that our soldiers may be on. Matter of fact I just wish the Politian's would just let the generals run the show and let the military to do their job...
On Edit: Decommissioned equipment is sold at auction but we do sell alot to other countries...
I also want to clarify that I would also agree with Mike saying that NO Diesels should have EGR, DEF, DPF or any other Enviromental crap on it. They kill the performance of the engine.

Spot on with your decommission comment. Prior to retirement, I ran a very large municipal fire apparatus fleet. The duty cycles of of large fire apparatus are not conducive to the emission systems used. ESpecially early on, we had countless issues that often took apparatus out-of-service. The number of fire apparatus produced in the US is miniscule compared to the number of over the road vehicles. Working with others who were trying to get fire apparatus exempted, I had the opportunity to speak with a very high ranking EPA official in Washington around 2010. In so many words, I was told, "Mr *****, you don't seem to understand. Not only are we never going to exempt fire apparatus, we are seriously considering removing the exemption from our military because those vehicles eventually get decommissioned and end up elsewhere." After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I said a prayer for our military. Thank God that goofy idea never came to fruition...yet.

Def is a wild thing. How does producing urea whatever that process would be,and deionized water, using the power to mix and then making plastic jugs to put it in and then cardboard boxes to ship it to the gas station, plus the extra process of building and the extra parts required for the def exhaust of the truck, plus parts that need to be on shelves for these systems, plus the reduction in fuel economy possibly ever be better for the environment. Government math is absolutley wild. Love the channel keep up the good work!! 🍻

Good afternoon Morgans and friends. Happy Father's day to all the fellas out there.
I learned most all native trees and flowers when i was younger like Levi has. If you see this Levi, im still interested in a few chinese chestnuts. I believe you have most species i have here, but I'm sure i have something though we could trade. Happy Father's day.
I was at rural king the other day, 75% off all trees and flowers. I brought home several white pines, a few more black hills spruce and wife bought all kinds of flowers and bulbs. We're pretty much out of room here on the homestead.
We saved pumpkin seeds from the ones we bought our granddaughter last year. She wanted a pumpkin patch of her own this year and we've been struggling to get all the starts planted due to heat and no rain. If the dont die, she'll have quite the patch.
Mike, i hope you have a great Father's day aswell. Please tell the family hello, be safe and we'll see you down the road.....thanks.

Def fluid is a great fertilizer for your grass...its mostly water and nitrogen. Mix a jug 50/50 with water...spray on grass...either right before it rains or rinse it off grass blades and wash it in. Grass greens up real nice..and way way cheaper than grass fertilizers in the bag. Always test a small area on your particular variety of grass to make sure it doesn't burn and tolerates the dilution mixture...adjust as necessary. 👍✌💯

I have a surplus 1984 M1009 Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle, basically a Chevy Blazer with a Humvee engine and transmission and military electrical system. It has a sticker under the hood saying it is exempt from EPA regulations. Generally, when the military gets rid of vehicles, they are so old that they are exempt from regulations anyway. Yet, DEF will still be a problem. The military is having to get rid of several series of vehicle because the OEMs don't make those engines anymore because they don't meet EPA regs and the military doesn't need enough to keep the production lines open. The fact that the military wants to run jet fuel in their diesels for logistical simplicity is an additional complication.

I bought a property in Pine Mountain, Ga. In 2022. It had a spring on it with concrete walls around it built around 1910. Over the years a lot of activity disturbed the soil and Chinese privet took over. It is terrible for a spring because no grasses or sedges grow causing run off instead of absorption for the spring. We cleared them out and now natives are starting to reappear and the water flow has increased dramatically.

Most Military vehicles are multi fuel compatible. Can run on Diesel, Kerosene, Jet fuel and heating oil. Pretty much any thin oil. So advanced emissions control would never work as the engine is designed to run on poor quality fuels and keep going. This would block any catalyst or diesel particular filter too quickly and make the vehicle not drivable. The goal is reliability in any condition be that desert or artic and everything in between not emissions control. Or you would be putting the military personnel in undue danger. Eg
“We can’t move the tank because it’s doing a Regen”

Army and USAF use JP8 in aircraft and ground vehicles, USMC use JP5 due to higher flashpoint while on board ships, Jet Fuel is NOT the same as diesel. My Bn in GA used DF2 in garrison and in the field, as soon as we deployed, transitioned to JP8 resulted in 250 vehicles having to have fuel filters changed and tanks cleaned of DF2 related sludge. As others have said, the battlefield is not the right time to wait for a REGEN.

Mike, another difference between gravel and crushed stone is gravel is generally excavated, either from a river/creek, or from a deposit. Stone has to be blasted from a formation then processed. Also, gravel usually has a fair amount of sand in it that has to be removed, primarily thru washing, but sometimes can be dry-screened. Around my area we have substantial deposits of gravel in the ground. It also gets crushed to make various sizes, since the nearest stone quarry is over an hour away. My dad, who was in the crushed stone business for over 40 years, always said that creek/river rock will always find itss way back to the creek.

I can 100% tell you that our manufactures here like Oshkosh build units for overseas that do not have emissions on them also. I remember a bunch of fire apparatus getting shipped over. Nothing had emissions on it. However, that is one of the biggest issues with reliability in the USA with road trucks and fire apparatus. We are fed a ton of crap everyday abot this. Our governement would rather us throw appliances and vehicles out and create more waste so they can have these systems on them. All the while we make more waste making DEF and these systems that add nearly 600 lbs to a vehicle. And are not reliable. Most people have issues with them.
Honda ran their last production run of lawnmowers for the USA in 2023 due to emissions regulations.. A lawnmower is the enemy of the EPA. I never thought I would see it. They restrict on road motorcycles like they are the enemy of the state. Look at the required testing for an on road or dual sport motorcycle. Just to have it sputter, backfire, and run extremely hot with all the crap attached. 8 Million motorcycles on the road in the USA vs. 288 million cars. And motorcycles and lawnmowers are an issue.

Mike, the government's attitude is that you should be happy that they are allowing you to own a diesel engine. I wonder how many in the US government own interest in the companies that make DEF? I bet the government does not require DEF for the diesel generators that I have seen used to charge EVs either.

I get it. However in a combat environment, DEF would add a supply and eventual break down problem as all of us know from owning a DEF vehicle .

Dear Mike, over here in the UK we have a rule for all militery vehicles as in Army, Navy and Airforce which is called CROWN EXEMPT. This means they can build what they want and do what they want. The enviro and a whole host of other road rules they can breach with no come backs what so ever. BUT if a tracked motor (tank?) damages a road surface they have to pay for the repairs and closures. they use red diesel and not road diesel as they are TAX EXEMPT in all laws and restrictions. Have a great day....

To be fair Mike, military vehicles need to be operation ready at all times. Adding a DEF system to them would render them unreliable.
Plus, local governments would need to develop another revenue stream if we were not monitoring emissions on diesel vehicles.

Happy Father's Day, Mike & Levi! Spicy opening there, Mike! Love it! Quite the hypocrisy in our government. We are having our pad built for our barndominium home build. The pad is 110' X 70' and one corner had to be built up about 4'. I think we are at around 750 tons of stone now. Two dump trucks (25 ton and 15 ton beds) were dumping for four days straight. That road to the meadow is going to be a lot of stone.

Privitt grows up and leans over and spreads seed away from the bush and new plants come up and lean out... Thereby it will take over a field given time. Not many years. We got behind in the massive rains lately and it is maybe 25 feet from where it was. A power pole was there I used to drive around but now is deep inside the overgrowth.

You nailed it on the def and it's 1000x more deadly than the carbon deoxcid that comes out of a diesel engine other words it will kill you quickly unlike the other fumes from a older diesel engine and is more damaging to the environment than the carbon deoxcid that they don't like the only thing that it does is make the smoke invisible and you have to pay more taxes for it. God Bless Y'all up there and have a great day 🙏🙏👍😮

And you can pre def trucks and motorhomes etc. my recommendation is just delete all that crap. Less headaches, better on the wallet, more power, more sunshine

We learned long ago that one CANNOT represent the people unless he/she is subject to the same laws - that comes from the "Taxation without representation" thing... The crown said that we DID have representation as some volunteers agreed to "represent" our interests in Parliament. We made the argument that they CANNOT represent the people. So... yeah... do you know how many laws and statutes that Congress is exempt from? Seriously... we need to examine this a little better. DEF compliance is the LEAST of the problems... lol. Thanks for pointing it out though.

Nice job on the entrance. That thumb on your grading bucket sure comes in handy for moving those big rocks exactly where you want them. It hurt my thriftiness to see all those 2.5 gal. DEF jugs. Though it sucks that we have to use this stuff, it’s a real crime that you pay at least twice as much per gallon of DEF in those jugs as the truckers do at the pump. To save a buck, I save my empties, the fill 7 or so at a time when I’m on a road trip passing truck stops that sell DEF at the pump. Saves me at least 50% over the price per jug at the auto parts store. Since my mom was 15 when the great depression ended, I guess I’m just wired to save a buck. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished road. I have a similar project at our property in northern Wisconsin. I sure wish we had the same solid foundation as my home state of PA. I’ll be dealing with at least 12” of clay to get my road started. I expect to learn a thing or to watching you finish your road. See you then.
