This is beyond mind-blowing! I bought Bitwig. Period. Imagine what you can do with top notch, best-sounding synths such as Diva, Legend (just to name a few), which lack MSEGs. Bitwig + analog synths = freedom to sculpt and conjure up any sound! And there's yet The Grid in Bitwig... 🙂
I have so much fun with these tools every time I open Bitwig. Next logical step is to allow us to create wavetables by cutting and pasting our own curves together like in Vital! This would be useful for synthesis, but also very helpful to easily transitions between different curves using the Wavetable LFO modulator!
I think it was a good update. However there are many things they should do before creating new stuff. You must be wondering what: - A good and simple freeze function - MIDI comping - Vídeo suport - Quantize-stretch onsets for audios - Resolve the EQ+ (and others) phase and latency issue - Being able to export in different tracks each pad/instruments of the Drum Machine device - Capture listening MIDI (like Ableton) - VariAudio type of editor - Correct handling of sustain and other pedals in clips (apparently that one is on the road map, I asked). - Allowing MIDI exports that don't have the entire project in them (e.g. a single clip)
I agree for the EQ+, but adding video to bitwig would be a waste of time. It's better if they focus on audio, there's already a lot of other programs that can do video

Having Bounce and Bounce in place why would you need freeze? You can always Bounce and then deactivate the entire track including the plugins so they are no longer using CPU
For the next update, please... please focus on the piano roll / midi scale / pitch-bends within the piano roll. Emailed this request years ago. I want to get away from Ableton, but I always find myself back in the DAW.

It's an amazing update. What I miss with it: 1) ability to modulate MSEG points (value and curvature). Even plain old ADSRs can be modulated, but not the powerful MSEG? 2) ability to convert an arbitrary sample/part of a sample to a MSEG curve. Sure, it can't be done with 100% accuracy, but it still can be done with some approximation, just like when an automation curve is being simplified while recording/drawing. This way I could convert any single cycle waveform into Scrawl osc instead of using Sampler which is limited in sound design capabilities or make Segments that foillows dynamics of a sample of choice.
The next best thing you could do is set your MSEG to hold and use another modulator to modulate the phase of the MSEG, giving you the ability to control the read position of the MSEG with any bitwig modulator. You could probably do anything possible via point modulation in this way, though it might take a little extra effort and ingenuity to set up (maybe a fade module fading between two different modulating MSEGs for two different phase readings of your main MSEG... oooh...). There are even pretty exiting possibilities here that go beyond simple point modulation. If it is an artistic priority, this should allow you to replicate this missing feature for the most part and the extra effort to fit it into your workflow should be worth it.
Now now, don’t be too greedy. But whilst you’re at it, conditional triggers on each point would be fun too. I haven’t downloaded a copy of the beta yet but I guess at least inthe Segments module, loop size appears to be modulatable, which could in achieve similar results. Happy to be corrected though. But really, there’s plenty to get creatively started.

But I’m the case of the curve it’s tough to explain, you just have to see for yourself :). And I’m just a dude like you. Nobody special
All these awesome shapes, and yet no tool to simply use them in arrangement automation when editing there (like rightclick in Ableton, where you can choose the envelope forms for usage in the Automation lane)! !??

@@BiggoSuave I mean from what I've heard the FL piano roll is supposedly one of if not the best piano roll on the DAW market, why exactly I have looked into but I would imagine taking it's strengths and adapting them to the Bitwig way of doing things would be a big ordeal. Personally I'm quite a fan of the Bitwig piano roll for the simple fact of its precision of telling you were notes start and end. Every note is literally just a rectangle on a grid and I've found that to be really nice when handling intricate midi programming as there is not a hint of question where a note is in time. Idk just some thoughts
And yeah tbh I really want Bitwig to give us at least some options for color scheme as the emphasis on orange isn't really my tastes, and skinning would be even better, though I imagine a big ordeal as well.
One of the reasons I haven't left Ableton for Bitwig is because of the difficulty of getting midi devices to work with it. I have a Novation Launchpad and Akai Midimix which are both designed for Ableton and therefore require no configuration. I also have an MPC Studio MK2 which I have scripted to act as an Ableton controller. If Bitwig had a user friendly editor for creating midi control scripts with accurate RGB feedback lights and everything else, I think I'd just make the transition, but there's no DAW that has such an editor, to my knowledge. You either have one of the controllers on the list, or you hope somebody has a hacked midi script for your controller, which is the only reason I was able to use the MPC Studio with Ableton like this. And the guy who made it basically had to decompile binaries and figure out the Python bindings or whatever. I don't know how to do all that stuff. Most users don't.
These MSEGs area a joke, have you seen what's coming in Zebra 3? C'mon guys, how can you not have improved on MSEGs as they were 15 years ago?! I'll give you a clue, the magic word is "spline".

I think it was a good update. However there are many things they should do before creating new stuff. You must be wondering what:

Simple things that makes you get annoyed
Having Bounce and Bounce in place why would you need freeze? You can always Bounce and then deactivate the entire track including the plugins so they are no longer using CPU
I agree with most of these, though I do think for the Freeze request that the bounce functionality does quite well enough for the meantime.

Bitwig is so close to being the perfect DAW, but they chose to go full modular nerd, which sucks for anyone who wants the BASIC tools being smooth.
It's the only reason why I have the urge to go back to other daws like fl

What I miss with it:

Incredible DAW. I’ve still only got Bitwig 2.3 and am ill so can’t afford the upgrade to 5. But I don’t really need it.
