as a California resident who has been to both Utah, AND Nevada(Vegas specifically), I gotta say, whoever came up with the map design did a spot on job with it
About the Manual vs. Auto transmission thing, the reason as to why some truck drivers still prefer manual is because semi-truck automatic transmissions are still somewhat a WIP. For the most part, in my personal experience, I would prefer a manual since automatic transmissions in trucks have a lot more errors. That is why alot of truck drivers also dont like newer trucks, since everything is run by a computer, its almost impossible to fix it yourself, and when you take a newer truck to the dealer, you are gonna pay an arm and a leg to fix it. Another reason drivers prefer manual is because like it was said in the video, there is more control, especially in situations such as dump truck driving or snow. The issue is that these transmissions cant adapt to weather, however, with a manual you can. Overall, autos are nice, but when you drive 10-11 hours per day, can get pretty boring, having a manual is better in most cases, and its just one of those things that truckers would hate to see go. Also, side note, the truck that you were driving AR has an 18 speed auto and most of those aerodynamic trucks will have autos. However trucks like the pete 389 and KW900 will have manuals 90% of the time.
Also on another note about this is goin up hill most people like having manuals to keep higher rpm witch will keep turbo psi up and speed in a auto you can’t really do that so your goin up hills very slow from riding with my dad in both truck with a 7% grade with 108k pounds in a manual we were going 20-27 but in the auto we were only going 13-21 so there’s also that why some prefer manual over auto.
For further clarification: automatic transmission in trucks is mechanically a manual transmission that is automatically controlled by the computer. Some automatic transmissions, such as Volvo's I-Shift allow manual intervention (temporarily upshift or downshift while still in automatic mode), or complete override (sequential semi-manual transmission).
The idea of doing a convoy with 200+ players sounds nice, but i still like having ai traffic, so it's not just player trucks on the road you have to contend with.
except whoever made these traffic AI, made them absolute maniacs, they literally change lanes into you for no apparent reason, if they are merging from a ramp and u are just passing that ramp, they will 100% merge into you and not slow down, 0 fucks given
@Kanjoo. Oh, i am totally aware. Sadly, it's becoming more realistic. Granted, i pay attention to what's coming down the ramp to join and move to the left lane if available or adjust speed if needed. SCS does, however, need to fix some areas. Most stop signs the AI stops for, but there are a few i can think of they just blow thru. One of the back roads in the new Kansas DLC, for example, they zip on through a couple intersections where cross traffic does not stop and said cross traffic spawns too close to the intersection.
One of the reasons truck drivers like manuals is because when your on the road for hours it gives you something to do. Information coming from some of my family members that have drove both manual and automatic
Highly recommend going to real ops in ETS next weekend on the 25th. Its one of the coolest events they do, lots of different things to see, police chases, detours for accidents, construction zones all crafted by the TruckerMP team
It was brought up in the stream but manual transmission in heavy trucks lets the driver choose how to haul the load and allows better fuel economy. The bigger thing is maintenance. If an automatic breaks it is so much more expensive to fix.
Modern automatic transmission beat manuals in fuel economy. And automatic transmission dont have that many problems in my experience. I might be wrong but the amount of times we had problems with gearboxes in the shop is minimal. Most of the time when anything was with the gearbox its the clutch.
Nick, Dude let's get this right... on the breakdown. truck weighs 30-35,000 Trailer Weighs 12-20,000. once loaded you have to keep weight under 80,000. on the load you have to spread your payload to keep from going over 80,000lbs to keep from getting a DOT fine. I know it's a game, but thats wht you have to keep in mind. those numbers converted, Truck:13607KG, Trailer: 6900KG plus whatever cargo is onboard.
The reason it’s easier for you to use a manual is because it makes it where you can stay awake when you shift gears and if I don’t shift the years, difficult red line and wake you up
As a cdl (commercial drivers license) holder, most truckers like manuals due to the manual endorsement which allows them to drive both manual and automatic, if you do automatic endorsement you can only drive automatic which limits your with restrictions
In the UK the vast majority of the trucks are automatic but there are always manuals available. Same instance with buses there all almost automatic but some can have manual variants.
When your fully loaded its easier then stop then an empty truck. We don't use manuals just for Jake brakes. We use manuals for load control, Less maintenance, and quicker take off (manually shift higher rpm low to high) also manual keeps are hand busy keeps me awake more.
I suggest you (for extreme traffic) try truckersmp calais-duisburg via the coast road or the truckersmp promods road from kirkenes to the quarry a few miles north of kirkenes xD In the eenening at the weekend (20pm to 22om UTC). You will have hours of traffic!
amazing i was there but wasnt sure it was you until i saw your stream thought some random used your name and saw it was actually you I was event team good too see you there :D
A lot of new truxkers prefer the automatic. Because it's easier. Most of the people that like the manual are the old school truckers and I was agreeing with them until I started going for my commercial Driver's license. And you learn very quickly that don't go into it thinking because you know how to drive a manual that you can drive a manual truck. They will f****** humble you. Luckily for my job, all but two of the trucks at the company are automatic, which Is really good considering their plow trucks and trying to shift Eight speeds well controlling your cloud gear would be a pain in the ass
Semi truck drivers just like old-school things and find them cool, some are into automatics though. They also believe that they get more control out of a manual transmission.
Pretty sure most trucks in Europe are automatic it's just Americans that prefer manual since they're trucking industry is like a solid 40 years behind. They don't have most electronics European trucks do, so they prefer manual mainly because their automatics suck.
With the ats mp we’re the best place to start from with the most players cos everytime I go on it I don’t see anyone for hours or even for the whole time I pay it
But they seem to be preferences only. Europe barely has any manual trucks left. There is no use for them if automatics beat them in economy and comfort.
The software is too reactive and not proactive. You can see it with the adaptive cruise control. The AI cars will cut in front of you while you're climbing a hill. But the software doesn't know you're climbing a hill, and slams on the brakes.
It's not a skill issue, it's just a small problem with my PC
Definitely skill issues for sure
Then the PC has skill issue? Weird.
unlike Nick for his PC to be at fault for skill issues
Stop making racing driver excuses
🤔
as a California resident who has been to both Utah, AND Nevada(Vegas specifically), I gotta say, whoever came up with the map design did a spot on job with it
SCS, fucking czech people making a better United States than some American developers😂😂
they used real satellites / gps services to make the map :)

I learned something new. Thank you for sharing.

That's funny how here in Europe, cars are mostly manual, but trucks automatic, and it's the other way around in North America
@@FR_MARC For what it's worth, I'm in the US and much prefer a manual car! Some of us still exist
For further clarification: automatic transmission in trucks is mechanically a manual transmission that is automatically controlled by the computer. Not even 2 minutes into the video and I'm reminded exactly why I love this channel so much
I’m glad you finally brought ATS back to the channel
The idea of doing a convoy with 200+ players sounds nice, but i still like having ai traffic, so it's not just player trucks on the road you have to contend with.

Glad you managed to join us for the official convoy :D Hope you enjoyed and I hope to see you tomorrow for Real Operations!
One of the reasons truck drivers like manuals is because when your on the road for hours it gives you something to do. Information coming from some of my family members that have drove both manual and automatic
I bet atleast 10 people were blasting C.W. McCall's Convoy

1:27 ayoo nick💀
Never heard of this game but now I’m hooked to it
Very nice to see you on TruckersMP! 😉😉
Roses are red, violets are blue, Nick will always have a skill issue
Nor can he penetrate
That's a good one
Nick's laughter at the end tho!😂😂
@7:33 *Nick scream*
“This guy got a massive load”
Skill issue
💀
I can't help but to keep hearing the song "We Got A Great Big Convoy"
Fun fact: MINI horn's actually have some oomph; since BMW took over they started fitting nice German horns. Your horn sounds like a Civic
Truck drivers love driving as they should, hence why a lot of skilled drivers use manual still
Nick is too kind.
this video is the exact reason nick should never drive a semi in real life💀
Nick, Dude let's get this right... on the breakdown. truck weighs 30-35,000 Trailer Weighs 12-20,000. once loaded you have to keep weight under 80,000. on the load you have to spread your payload to keep from going over 80,000lbs to keep from getting a DOT fine. Finally back to my favorite episode
The spear absolutely has to get installed in LV
FINALLY MORE TS
See, Nick, this is how you need to play ATS/ETS. There needs to be admins in singleplayer so Nick can behave while playing SP
The reason it’s easier for you to use a manual is because it makes it where you can stay awake when you shift gears and if I don’t shift the years, difficult red line and wake you up
Gears instead of years
This looks absolutely insane
2:24 his response hurt my soul
Wait till nick finds out that texas’s speed limit is 80mph
As a cdl (commercial drivers license) holder, most truckers like manuals due to the manual endorsement which allows them to drive both manual and automatic, if you do automatic endorsement you can only drive automatic which limits your with restrictions
Oh man you really need to play on truckermp an do do the calais-duisburg route 😂😂😂
its good to see more ats vids
In the UK the vast majority of the trucks are automatic but there are always manuals available. Same instance with buses there all almost automatic but some can have manual variants.
Aren’t you supposed to be driving your GR86 to level it up so you can upgrade it?
LOL
The start was the funniest thing ever!
When your fully loaded its easier then stop then an empty truck. We don't use manuals just for Jake brakes. We use manuals for load control, Less maintenance, and quicker take off (manually shift higher rpm low to high) also manual keeps are hand busy keeps me awake more.
More of these trucking games more yeets too
I like that the game is still pitch black even if there is moonlight, the game is still darker

"The speed limit in Nevada embraces that good old American 'freedom'" while the Autobahn in Germany has *no* speed limit for most sections.
Yeah but not for trucks. Trucks in germany are not allowed to go faster then 80kmh (eventhough most still drive 90kmh) and most are capped at 90kmh.
amazing i was there but wasnt sure it was you until i saw your stream thought some random used your name and saw it was actually you I was event team good too see you there :D
I think Nick has skill issues in his PC actually 😂👍
nick only messed up because he needs new gaming chair cushions guys
nice video 👍👍👍
One of the blimps is a goodyear blimp

Casually speeding in the exit lane/truck lane. (and the cruising lane)
You need to play more of this game whenever u can please
You should do more of this game
Yes more ATS
Yessir 1 min since upload
This convoy thing died real quick....it's sad because I really enjoyed it.
4:00
Mercedes and Freightliner have that
Semi truck drivers just like old-school things and find them cool, some are into automatics though. They also believe that they get more control out of a manual transmission.
how does Helen let you buy so many 😂
How do you join such a large convoy? I thought it requires a console?
You are my favorite TH-camr
7:25 is so funny
You should been here when promods first came to truckersmp. That was ALOT of traffic
Oh god brings me memories from playing american truck simulator multiplayer in 2016 when my truck always got destroyed by stupid kids
Nick and keep up the good work and I love the video 😂😂😂😂good very funnycry 😂
Take the turns wide and your trailer won't get stuck, country roads with guardrails need wide turns.
As a Utah resident, nobody knows Vernal
Just got this insane game. Wondering how you got the Home Depot and Canada mods?
✨
8:30 lessgooo
I be on the good Nick stuff
Wait this game has vernal Utah? I need to check it out and see if it’s accurate to the real thing
noo ive forgot about that convoy 😭
I just bought the game and have the steering wheel and petals and it’s pretty immersive especially after some edibles
Also drinking lol
yoooo!! Vernal is my hometown!
80 thousand, and manuals help get traction in a snowy yard
In denmark trucks can weigh up to 60.000 metric tons and thats around 120.000 pounds
They didn't honk back, they blipped, which in this context is practically the same.
remind me to not be on the road if this guys ever driving in the us
oo american truck sim very funny yes very
Do you not have an airhorn? (or did you forget that the button for it is N and not H?) H is for the city horn.
Pretty sure most trucks in Europe are automatic it's just Americans that prefer manual since they're trucking industry is like a solid 40 years behind. They don't have most electronics European trucks do, so they prefer manual mainly because their automatics suck.
4000 plus on EURO truck simulator mp . alot more popular then ATS. but i like ats
80k loaded 36k ish empty
I want more truck simulator videos
Vernal is my favorite town
With the ats mp we’re the best place to start from with the most players cos everytime I go on it I don’t see anyone for hours or even for the whole time I pay it
Is it Vernal or Vanarial because I've been to that one and it's not pretty...
"8-speed manuals?" I thought 18 speed and such were more common or 10 speed, 13 speed, etc.
@AR12Gaming theres tons of reasons drivers prefer manuals
But they seem to be preferences only. Europe barely has any manual trucks left. There is no use for them if automatics beat them in economy and comfort.

Day 12 of asking for fh3 dev build video also this was chaotic
I got a forza ad going into this vid
you drove through my town and it only has 4000 people i am surprised it is in the game delta utah
People who sang a specific song at 1:12 😂
👇
Do you know how to use the engine brake?
“Soon, Nick arrived with a glovebox full of strong pornography, and egg on his vest”
Semis can even be 80 or 100,000 pounds.(or more, even without being oversized)
Please more off this game or ets
I always have high ping. I have a decade old computer and mobile data phone hotspot as internet on my computer, which is almost as slow as dial up.
As a truck driver i always prefer automatic
Btw n is the airhorn
