Around 25% of Brits support the country being a republic, mostly made up of young people who change their mind as they get older. For the same reason that Liz Truss was able to be the Prime Minister, she like Starmer openly supported the UK becomming a republic when younger. Even if both of them still held this opinion there is no law banning them from holding any political or any other office. I suspect that the King and Starmer agree on many more things than the King did with Truss or Sunak.
Oath is to King and heirs. Yes many Lords are related to the King and some are potential heirs but should all have an automatic right to sit in the Lords? I'm not so sure.
