    The service staff at 5-star hotels in India is amazing. They are well-trained and so polite, they often go above and beyond their job duties to help tourists visiting their hotel. I have almost never experienced that level of hospitality at American 5-star hotels. I had stayed one night at the Leela in India, but I prefer the suites at the Taj Mahal Hotel and also JW Marriott whenever I visit India. I love Indian food, and I have never gotten sick from eating in India, because I only eat at clean, renowned restaurants, never on the streets.

    • @ashishtiwari1912
      @ashishtiwari1912 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Even on the streets you won't get sick that easily. It is a myth. If you eat something that is freshly prepared which most often is the case in India, then your chances of getting sick is pretty rare. Common sense goes a long way.

    • @monicamccarthy3932
      @monicamccarthy3932 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ashishtiwari1912 I think watching street food being prepared makes people a bit nervous and they're afraid they might get sick. In India, I have often seen street food being prepared on a busy street, lots of vehicle exhaust, dust, flies, standing water, etc. But, I understand if the food is hot and fresh, it is mostly safe to eat. Personally, I prefer eating at regular dine-in restaurants when traveling.

    • @kavaljeetkaur246
      @kavaljeetkaur246 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@monicamccarthy3932thing is, you'd rather avoid the actual street food if you aren't from India, the locals eat it but are immune the the water, we never ate street food which had water in it, it's so much better just to eat at restaurants, that's where the quality of food and resources are higher

    • @kavaljeetkaur246

      @@monicamccarthy3932love how respectful you were about it, cause alot of people call it dirty and say they would never travel to India, clearly being ignorant as if they travel, they won't be going to the slums but a nice hotel instead

    • @monicamccarthy3932
      @monicamccarthy3932 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kavaljeetkaur246 Thanks. It is important to be respectful to all. I have traveled to many different countries. India, especially Mumbai, is still one of my favorite places because of its uniqueness of culture, diversity and food. I prefer a clean and comfortable dine-in restaurant where I can enjoy a meal, instead of eating on the street, holding a paper plate in hand. That's just my personal preference.

    You shouldn't consume dairy if you have upset stomach. You had mango yogurt plus haldi milk... These things are good if you have constipation or feel heartburn... In this situation you should have had lemon water, avoid bread ...kichri works great but I don't think that was an option. Liquids that are light on stomach such as soups (clear ones) might have worked better

      This might sound funny to many but according to new researchers bottled water is not as good option compared to water from a Well. Indian food is spicy and some food new to stomach will always create problems. Food shud be fresh. Too much spice is hard to handle for a western stomach not used to it.

    Go to a nearby local grocery store, ask for Ajwain (ground carom seeds) and have some of that, try chewing it for a minute before swallowing.
    Try that, and then take some curd (white curd, not sweet yogurt) mix a tablespoon of salt to it and some haldi (turmeric) powder and drink. And have nothing spicy for a day or two, and rest well. You will come off like a butterfly.
    Disclaimer: if these don't work still, consult a local doctor. Ask the hotel staff to help you with a consultation or you can consult online using apps like Practo, pharmeasy, etc.

    Actually one shouldn't consume citrus juices and have milk. It tends to cause bloating. Also, initially you may have mismatched foods. Omlettes are considered warm to cause a runny stomach. It could be water from taps outside the hotel. You should carry some antibiotics for food poisoning. Sometimes mushrooms and other foods cause those issues like extra spicy food. Since you may have gotten used to by now, hygiene levels should be seen and maintained. You could have those digestives like fennel seeds with sugar if you have a runny stomach

    Don't drink the tap water, only bottled/treated/boiled/or filtered water...
    Yoghurt/curd and plain food while you recover.

    It wasn't mint chutney. It was probably coconut chutney. That's what is commonly served with a dosa

    If you are experiencing such a condition, I would suggest you not eat anything for the entire day except water. Drink sround 4 litres of water. You will be fine and hungry by the evening.
