    I think people love you so much especially here in Florida because you bring back a working mans humbleness that translates into success. I hope TH-cam turns you into an actual television show where you belong. So we can all get back to those Saturday morning DIY shows we all miss and loved.

    Where in the heck were you 4 years ago!!!? I've never known how to do window sills, I thought there were special tricks and know how, turns out it's as simple as you showed.... Now if I could just find a trim shop instead of Home Depot/Lowes. I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoy watching your channel.

Thank you, I watch every video regardless if I'm doing work relating to the project you are doing or not ... because of how useful all your knowledge and tips are and can be applied in every aspect of carpentry , construction , tool use, and overall diy projects . You're a North American international treasure lol (I'm from New York) . Keep up the great work !

    I can't thank you enough for your videos. My husband and I have started to renovate our master bathroom where they laid down plain ole laminate wood flooring with no protection against water getting under everything. Under that is particle board on top of subflooring and it is completely moldy and nasty. Thankfully I remembered your videos about subflooring and mold so we are following that. I think we have said "Thats what Home Renovision does" 15 times so far Haha

    I love to watch your videos because I am remodeling an old house. I hired a contractor who was not the best and after he made a mess of the spackling on the new sheetrock and drove nails into the water lines, he and I parted ways with the kitchen not being finished. I found out today, I can not even try to trim out the windows, just not skilled. I wish there was a carpenter with you skills in Clarks Green, PA, USA that could do work like you do. I am scared to hire someone and am afraid the kitchen will never be finished. Thank you so much for the info, you share, I truly enjoy watching you.

    Love the videos man, I’ve learned a ton from this channel. I have done a lot of jamb extensions and trim outs lately and would recommend 2 things.I used 5 1/2” sill then ripped it, and notched it out around extension so it goes right up against against window. Also when I install moulding I try to put the nails in the creases of the trim so I can run a bead of caulk and it hides them perfectly

    I'm looking at your video and checking the sill on my bedroom bay window. I have the corner trims under the window sill...yay! The devil is in the detail...elaborate millwork really gives character to a house. Many may not even realize how small details like these are so important, but once you know, you cannot unsee it. It's kinda like when you understand cuts and folds of a tailor made suit, you just know what's what and you cannot unsee it.

    Instead of using shims to set the margins for the extension jambs set drywall screws into the framing. Make a jig to set the screws to the right depth from the window. I find it much easier than fumbling around with shims.

    First off - thank you for making so many excellent videos!! I've learned a ton already and am tackling renovation of my bathroom. I'm tiling a wall with a window that is placed off-centre to the left, with the sill at roughly waist height. Would you aim to have a row of full sized (4 x 8 beveled subway tile) tiles at sill level or would it be best to find the horizontal and vertical centre of the wall and layout from there? Well, I'm gonna comment. My second comments ever. You are a natural educatorr!!! dude. You get basic for a tradesman,, but don't make your viewers feel bad or stupid. I'm poor and have done my own repairs ect since I was 14. I always hated the gerks telling you how to do something and calling me an idiot.... Well I've never done it before, how the hell should I know, that's why I'm learning. You and your son are hilarious together, he seems like a good kid. You should put your wife in the renovation one day. I just bought my first house in june, it was built in 1919. Omg in one week I found knob and tube cut in and hidden, a bathtub leak and foundation $&#$@#. I find it comforting to watch your old farm house and know I'm not alone. Anyway thanks, if your ever in near Vancouver I'd love to have you over for a BBQ so we could compare old house nightmares.

    GRK trim head screws to fasten your jamb extension box together- more stable.
    Attach casing to frame.
    Shim rough opening with drywall screws screwed to framing every 12-16”, which allows you to get your frame perfect because they’re adjustable
    Install assembly as one piece. Much easier to keep everything consistent pre-building

    Trim below the sill makes for a very tight outlet cover space? Windows look awesome. Do you have videos showing how to install windows with removing the entire frame?

    I always build mine out complete and install them. Faster and easier to match reveal on the mitres on the window frame shins and pray foam beforehand using low expansion foam made for windows and doors easy to trim it right before putting the box in. Simple fast and same results.

    OMG.. my biggest headache was my porter cable gun running out of Brad nails. It sucks because it will still leave a mark on the trim as if it fired one. Thanks for the info on a RIGID. I'll look into it.

    Nice work! How do I drop my window sill to the level of my counter to have more space behind my faucet? The space behind the faucet is too small and then the raised sill behind is also too narrow.

    Looks great. Nice little shelf. Does it slope slightly in, out, or neither? Like for when there is a splash of water?

    I got really excited when I saw the word window only to realize that this was a video about the trim. You have not done any window replacement video that I have seen and would be really interested to know what your take on putting new windows into an old house is.

    I think you could do some great videos on how contractors deal with material issues that would stump homeowners. Like how do you use a pickup truck to transport some of these 16ft trim boards home? Little tips like prepainting trim are hidden in this video too but it’s a great idea.

      is it some antique cast iron tub that you can no longer find? If not, a new steel tub is $200 so refinishing a tub is usually not worth the cost

    • @dsmith199
      @dsmith199 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      apex Yes a new tub is inexpensive but there is a lot of work involved with removing it while trying not to disturb the tile around it.

    • @kirkbrooks9447
      @kirkbrooks9447 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did some research on that as I'm in a similar position on my bathroom reno. While it'll be a major PITA to get the tub out, it seems the longevity of a refinished tub isn't that great. I'd rather do a "One and done" on it than deal with the long term hassle.

    • @briang2981
      @briang2981 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      apex have you accounted for ripping out and replacing everything that surrounds the tub, which btw is likely mortared in place?
