    ASW is going full politician on us. They've been saying for years they're trying to reduce overall damage and every single time they do damage gets higher.
    As far as May changes specifically, I love the Split distance control in neutral and oki, now just revert every single other change. I hate what the 5H damage buff has done to May's gameplan. Everything else got toned down and then 5H CH is dealing 70% meterless nearly corner to corner. They wanted to solidify her as a power character and then nerfed all her rps and round start options. Why is May just not allowed to air stall while someone like Bed is doing quintuple overhead mix?

    I like this patch, and sure there are a lot of things they need to work on, but it seems like more fun than the last patch. Hopefully this also gets them into a cycle of regularly updating the game.

    I want axl to have a vacuum on hit for rain water. I'd like a vacuum back in general (meaning on block to). Then make him +2 instead of 3/4 in your face.
    Regardless, he lost a lot when they got rid of vacuum on hit. 40% of Axls combos and sauce are gone. Replaced with more rock, paper, scissor stuff in the form of the rensen buffs.
    They made 6p universal, which helped him out a lot in some of his season 3 matcchups. Millia, and then the elephelt rekka. Though he over all looses harder to chip, elephelt, ram now.

    7:06- Sols cool shit was always locked away behind skill. Kara revolver and Kara HVV, Tk revolver and Tk HVV along with the RC shenanigans, the different directional inputs, the different cancel options for RC -Cancels (fast RC) for example cancelling into jh as opposed to into a special like j 236k after HVV, all allowed for some truly phenomenal stuff.
    Don't take my word for it. Look up Benado, Odawara, Troxus, Combo movie or 2c Quiche to see how insane sol was. The problem wasn't the lack of skill expression, the problem was the NEED or INCENTIVE to do the cool shit. If you consistently doing 60% damage for the least amount of execution why would you aim for that extra 15% that you can drop in a match?
    That was the issue, they refused to incentivize players to learn high level techniques because the reward was not clear for doing so- like in older classic GG games especially for Sol. And season 4 they erased the high level shit, and said hey we are making it EVEN EASIER. Invalidating the work those who learnt the engine over the past 3 seasons put into Sol.

    I hate how they're cherry picking their favourite characters
    Goldlewis gets fucking enormous buffs, and then Millia gets nerfed when it should've been completely opposite
    Or when Ky (my main) gets a couple of mega specific buffs (I'm looking at you, buffed j.S and stun edge on shock state) while they entirely kill FA and funny 6H > 2K loops in the corner
    I would've been fine with that since FA corner carry was pretty busted. However, why the fuck then you give Ram even more oppressive corner carry that can be executed out of 2K
    The funniest part is that my character is almost fine after the patch. Look at Millia and Axl players. Looking at them I feel like I don't have any right to complain lmao

      I wouldn't mind FA loops going away if they did same to all other chars. lets be real here ky needed it to have a chance against top tiers. Another issue is that not only did they kill FA loops they Killed FA overall and nerfed 6H to the ground(DE CH pick up is felt as well). So now already weak pressure is weaker and we have less tools to play neutral. So that means we have to win more interactions which are now harder to win.
      I agree that it was busted but you can't just take it away and leave us with bread crumbs. Another things is that ky just way less player expressive and more boring to play.

      How the fuck am I supposed to "excel in neutral" with SS stun edge? That's probably one of the weakest projectiles in the game being beaten by litteraly everything in the game
      HVT isn't even a neutral tool at all but got buffed
      In which fucking universe Ky got better neutral by getting these "buffs"? I cannot threaten FA loops, I cannot safely fish using 6H. How's that a better neutral???

      i actually like the ky changes. yeah he feels weaker and foudre arc sucks but shock state cse being +5000 is funny. honestly i would be fine with this patch as a whole if ram changes and maybe goldlewis and nago changes didnt exist.

      @fnndhshsbxnf I played like 30h this patch, and I've got SS CSE like 5 times at most. It surely is funny, but it's pretty hard to set up
      Also I hate how they buffed HVT so you can use it more in combos, and yet in some situations I STILL cannot use it mid combo because:
      A) SS was applied way too long ago (3 seconds ago) and it goes away just when I hit 623H input
      B) Gravity doesn't allow me to use HVT that much in combos. It's genuinely pretty hard to set up a combo with 2 SS HVTs, and sometimes when opponent gets hit by second HVT he lands when I'm still mid-air! It's not even like it would deal gazillions of damage, Ky already has shit like c.S > 6H > 214S > 6H > 623H > 5K > 6H > 623H (medium sized minimum near the wall) that deal 260+ damage meterless, why the fuck can't I have sauce in my combos?

    Fighting games have SO MUCH POTENTIAL for silly, whacky gamemodes! I swear I remember playing a sort of boardgame where you'd get into fights with ridiculous modifiers, can't remember if it was a Smash game, if it was a Soul Calibur game, it's just a distant memory I have.
    Imagine if you could fight in a mode where stain state would randomly apply, or ice field, or Ky starts in Dragon Install, characters get constant positive bonus, constant afro mode... There is so much you could do. I understand that Xrd had some fun modes like that. Why can't we get something now? And it would be so much fun in a multiplayer mode with proper rollback, even including team fights with the new multi-player teams.

    The main two points of criticism for me are:
    1.) how disproportionate the changes are- this is what makes it feel like they rushed to slap together a balance patch to ship out with Dizzy. The strong characters ate well while the weaker/fine characters got nothing or nerfed. Like Jack-O losing her best setups from 2D in favor for a pretty niche dash cancel on Servant Shoot. What ever you get from Servant Shoot dashing, you do better by literally just not doing it since you become unactionable and locked into the run animation; minion is gonna get smacked and you're gonna run straight into a poke.
    Kingafrica has been trashing Jack-O too because of the changes. He seems pretty done with her until something changes with her.
    2.) the discrepancy in damage makes no sense when they claim to be reducing damage. The damage diff is just bigger because May, Nago, Pot, and Goldlewis do a bajillion damage while everyone else who doesn't do much damage are just even weaker in comparison which sucks since those characters tend to be low health, low damage, and/or put more vastly more effort in for damage.
    Also hard agree with Cricket at 35:12.

    To me, the patch really did shake things up. The problem is that a lot of changes feel heavy-handed without a lot of thought put into them. Some characters should've been prioritised more in terms of changes (I.e. testaments gameplan should be more built on while goldlewis should've been having a couple of small changes at most)
    I think the patch should've had more time to cook, and this current patch should've been focused on making the game not as explosive while having the other changes being in the oven for a month more at least.

    I agree with your take on sin i just think its mostly a playstyle preferences with him in this current patch. While he is more rewarding you have to be strategic because a lot of his routes is very expensive. If you're fundamentally solid playing around risk reward varying your offense and defense accordingly he's still good if not slightly better than he was last patch. But please make eat a real move just let sin actually be a resource character idc if you make it to where we get one stam bar back or give faster regen after eat but please do something arc sys

    the thing with jack o nerf is that they wanted to dull a bit her combo with the shoot and 2D increasing blowback range, though in reality they nerfed then her set ups mid screen, the oki mid screen which you are going after is very more blatant because you have to dash a bit, also buff instead her 2h damage in exchange of that feels like she is loosing much more than winning at the patch note, and the dash cancel they added just feels weird, you are supposed to dash toward an enemy you just shoot without a servant in front of you to secure your way, I kinda don't understand
    Also since she has less possible combos now at least mid screen it looks like the only route for her is corner carry into wall break, no diversity allowed or not much at least and that's not just jack o problem it is more a strive problem (sorry for long comment)

    As an asuka player I kind of agree with most of the changes. I think the mana drain on bookmark full order is a bit too much and 5 bit metron getting gutted is pretty bad but not the end of the world. Test case 2 is actually really good and I play test case 3 + 2 in most matchups and its gives the character so much more skill expression. He struggles a lot more to manage resources now which is annoying but with a bit of patience it is still ok.
    I was really hoping for that universal damage nerf/health buff and was excited when I saw the patchnotes but I don't feel it at all. The buff to super damage is ridiculous especially as asuka without mana. Tyrant barrel does 60 percent off of any hit when you are out of mana, calvados is absurd and characters like slayer and nago can still 2 shot you

    I understand your point on sin in theory but what it feels like Is I get hit from 2k and then I get combo'd into the wall and he uses a super so it's HKD and by the time I get to take my turn, he already has a stamina bar back and the combo to break the wall did 70% of my health bar. I think if the sin player isn't very good, it's way more punishing but if the sin player isn't floor 9 or 10 and actually knows how to play it's really oppressive with the constant guard crush, combo from any stray hit, insane risc building, and having a DP on top of everything. I don't think it was a nerf to sin in the slightest and was purely a buff

    I would’ve liked some heavy damage scaling on slayer. I’m still killing in the middle of my slayer routes, but the end of these routes are my favorite part.
    Can I get some damage nerfs so I can use my full routing? 🥺

    Honestly, I really enjoy the patch. So much changed that the amount to learn is huge. I like that sins stamina management matters, he's definitely cracked with full stamina, but easier to use it with Kara's changed back to original and elk hunt from normals being a new way to use it for more mix. Goated change. Rams new direction feels good. I think we need to wait before we cry for a nerf hammer like a bitch. Again it's excited so much to adapt to. Also pot is crazy good and easy everyone should have a pocket pot this patch.

      I disagree with the overall take, but one thing that sticks out to me that I want to talk about is "pot is crazy good and easy everyone should have a pocket pot this patch." and you say this is good? How do you think anyone who played pot feels about this, that their character is now a glorified sidearm that everybody can just pick up and use. To anyone that mained pot or is planning to main pot, this is a punch in the face and shows that the effort to learn the character was for nothing.

    So, I like playing Strive and I main Bridget, I started around the middle of the Slayer patch, I knew Bridget has to win more interactions than more of the cast because of her low damage I never really minded that, I mean she has the tools to maintain a good pressure and mixups, but since the latest patch I'm struggling to keep my eagerness to improve with her, as a relatively new player I feel more lost and sad when I win 2 or 3 interactions and fail one and just... die... the damage they buffed to most of the cast is insane, everyone feels like Slayer, sometimes you are winning and you got hit by a overdrive reversal or a 6p into combo... your hp goes to 30%, plus the fact that most of the cast has more hp, I have to win like 1 interaction more than before.
    I am not sad that Bridget doesn't do damage, I am sad because the damage scaling plays an important factor on this (the close hits, not the long range hits, those are just annoying and they don't deserve to do damage), I mean for example add the low scaling of 2k mixups and the number of hits you have to do, the last hits make like 1 damage per hit... I mean... dude... I know I have to improve but it's hard when you have to guess right like 5 times to win a game but you make 1 mistake and almost die. I know I am still bad at the game but, they are giving most of the characters easier ways to do LOTS of damage... maybe I am just whining for no reason but I don't know man...

    I´d say that summed up, there was too much mistakes with the implementations of Daisukes vision and a lack of supervision, Pot is a walking mistake, top tier buffs are wack and the compensation buffs+damage buffs+TOD just ... No, please No
    However i´m happy still because of how they handled Baiken, the defense buffs feel good when they matter (sometimes) and Dizzy i think is a solid addition overall
    And hopefully they make better changes next time, with the confirmation of the new characters we can expect more patches sooner than later

    The thing that strikes me the most is the disregard for how the characters have been developing all of a sudden. Especially the reductive alterations. Again why not just make karas easier to execute instead of removing them and trying to compensate?
    We already had weight "classes" established by how the wild assaults were distributed, if dizzy ice was an interaction balance risk they could have just made pot and other heavy ignore the slide, because you know they are heavy.
    That and the fact that there was so many major bugs with this update made me wonder if someone else ordered a rush job or has taken over for balance, because this reeks of ignorance.

    The worst thing is that I genuinely doubt that they will listen to the community at all. They simply don't care.
    The complaints regarding this game have been basically the same since season 1.
    "The damage is too high/tower sistem is bad/same characters being meta/specific character being bad"
    Why the f nago has been top 5 since launch? I like nago, I like Ram, I like Leo, but they are almost always relevant in the competitive scene....while millia has never been, faust has never been, testament has never been, axl has never been ect ect.
    There are 1 millions youtube videos talking about how bad zato has been and how they should totally buff him, and they f nerfed him.
    The whole community agreed that he needed buffs and they simply ignored it.
    They do not care. I have never seen a competitive game with such a moronic balance team

    I will have to disagree with the Faust golf being somewhat bad because it isn't plus. As much as I want Faust to get plus frames( I do main Faust but am not a high level player, so take this with less than a grain of salt plz), his character design getting easy plus frames while having a win con command grab, crazy neutral skips, item pressure, and crawl would be too much. Yes I understand other characters have it better, but that doesn't mean that the game would be fun if everyone was buffed to the strength of like slayer/nago. We probably don't need to see how people would think of strive when characters like faust/baiken/elphelt being top tier like how they were in older tittles of gg. In the end, Faust was buff, and the changes added depth to the character, unlike some changes to other characters; cough cough, pot. Some of the changes were good in idea, but I think the changes that should be done are reverting some of the changes and adding more depth; adding drift/holding to certain moves would be an interesting new idea; like reverting/ tweeking the bandit bringer nerfs, through allowing more characters to be strong by allowing for mind games by retaking or tweeking their gameplay so that it is both requires more skill to play as well as more interactive. Some other things could be like adding charge/delay to different moves, while making it negative normally would be interesting; i.e. like what if fafnir or ram sword was tweeked so that it guard crushes only if charged like Faust scapple pull? What if Leo pushing back them far only worked if he charged the move? This would allow for separate things to go for with different reward, but still used the old(or nerfed) move just as a way to call out mashing. Arc sys patches being weird is nothing new though, especially looking at xrd

      For pot, i think adding Kara back, but keeping the Garuda change while leaving now Kara Garuda would be good. Reverting pot buster would probably be good too. I personally think leaving Kara nago bite is still cool, but they should nerf bite range as well as revert the hs damage while keeping some of the changes. Nerfing damage would also be crazy cool,

    As a gio player i think the nerfs where good and the compensation buffs out side 100 meter dash are good with her convertions and oki being tuned down but not removed and promote her more intractive ofence. the compensation buffs are also nice but 100 meter dash is a bit stupid and putting all her power budget into one think witch i dont think is good
    other that i do i do think some shit is a bit too loney toons and you should also look at the good changes this patch
    like rope is one off the coolest things in the game and a fun thing to watch and play or how may got some nice changes dose not incude dmg faust is realy fun to play against now with how mutch dum shit that happens and jacko 2d nerfs
    rember dooming is ok but not looking at the good shit as well makes everything suck even more
    and fuck i love clone nerfs

    Nerf nagos h normals insane block damage and plus frames, elephelt shotgun hard knockdown, ram bug, ky infinte, goldlewis offense, remove wwa, may dolphin split,sin, slayer, and elphelts bulit in mostly safe mix, slayer 2hs, bedman install granting hard knockdown from lightning, even when not wall stuck, baiken parry in blockstun, and anjis spin going through yrc+ the fish

    testament is not scary...they need more, idk why anyone hates test, they're easy. only people carrying them are pros. The problem is favortism. which is fine, just give people fucking weaknesses. The reworks are fine, issue is the killing the party for the rest of the cast & backwards compatibility. of course ram, they refuse to listen...they refuse to just make her swords something you have to reclaim like xrd instead of auto comeback. Dizzy was excited but she feels boring af. very much testament vibes. also ummmm king africa bless his heart but jacko wasnt top 5 by a long shot in 3.5 at all...not gonna take up this comment explain cuz i think most agree no. But anyways yeah...

    I like most of the changes this patch.
    Goldlewis seems more fun to fight against and also has helicopter mode.
    Sin's combo routing seems a lot more fun.
    I have to think a bit more when fighting against elphelt.
    Aba and Slayer pressure is super braindead when landing 236K and 236P (respectively) on block.
    I only have 2 big gripes with the patch, those being that:
    Ramlethal is way too overtuned and buggy, to the point where I don't even want to attempt tournaments.
    Some of the health changes are way too much, specifically potemkin. Like at 30% health, pot is capable of living through 2 raw pilebunkers, and has to get looped almost 4 times in order to die. And if he has positive bonus he becomes unkillable.

    Y'know what i hate?! its been 4+ years and theres still NO INSTANT KILLS, i paid 120$ on my preorder with the expectation that that would be included(despite them not being advertised) cuz im thinking "oh they just keeping them a secret till before launch". then game comes out and its the most barebones release iv ever seen in a guilty gear game, but i said " as long as the instant kills are still there IDGAF ". Not only were they not in the game, hardly anyone gave a crap that they werent, it took the devs over a year and a half to even address their absence. Then they basically said how much time it would take to make them without making it seem like the game was unfinished(which it was). also thode developer backyards were terrible because they always chose to answer the softest ballest questions and asked questions that we gave the answer to months ago. Transperancy my A--.
    BUT YOU KNOW WHAT, in spite of:
    Sol being the only character still playing xrd at launch
    the stripped gatlings
    Happy chaos in general
    the IAD having startup
    THE FUKKIN WALL MECHANIC
    the scam season passes
    0 explanation of the wallmechanic
    If it had Instant killsI wouldnt have cared. i just wanted to combo into my flashy animation like the last game and thats it. instead all i can do is wall break. they took out a staple mechanic thats been in every other guilty gear...for wall break.

      Paying 120 dollars for a game that doesn't have what you specifically want doesn't sound like a very smart purchase to me. And you can still combo into sick animations? I'm not really sure what you meant by that. I guess you just want to see a victory screen at the end of every combo?

      @@thetoxicraptorz3482 true, i got scammed. but no, the "Sick animations" youre referring to are just supers, The Instant kill was a beautiful work of art paired with the sheer difficulty it took to land one in a combo made them a sight to behold when used in a high level. imagine it like this: specials are like a slices cake, supers are cheesburgers, and instant kills are Like a trip to your favorite restaurant and its all you can eat. supers don not compare.
      but youre right, i should not have made a purchase with the assumption i was getting something that wasnt explicitly advertised. Im just salty that very few people cared and went ignored for soo long.

    If they want to have even more "accessibility" they should stop making fighting games and release an action game next similar what they did to poor Blazblue (which they probably will, seeing how the most resources they pumped into the game after release is still the goofy 3v3 party mode)

    On the Gio changes I agree with the nerf to guard crush, but I don't like her losing most of her combo routes. A change I would like to see is that they give her back old 2s and fs into 2h conversions on counter hit, and I barely feel the changes on install they feel very situational since Gio needs to use meter constantly to have a threatening offense and then strive has some much damage that you are better off doing a super and killing the opponent on the next interaction then holding on to the meter and risk losing a neutral interaction.
    A change I wanna see is that they give her the install without meter, like Bullet's heat from blaze blue and every time you get a knock down Gio gets the glow buffs and you spend the buffs with chave specials, she wouldn't get any new combos from it, new players will barely notice the difference and with this changes The meter buffs will feel stop feeling like a gimmick and more like a core part of her gameplan.

    People gotta stop asking for less damage, strive is a high damage game it has been like that since launch and I don't think it would ever change, we should try to ask for supers not to have a hkd on wall break or nerf to positive bonus.
