I soooo hope you're going to host a Shakespeare read along!!! I would totally be in for that!

I’m so sad you are not feeling Grimm the show…I’m loving it! Also, if you are enjoying sci-fi right now, look into The Blighted Stars by Megan E. O’Keefe. ❤

It's a shocker to me, but here we are. I've added The Blighted Stars to my recommendations list. :)

The Island of Dr. Moreau comes off as campy today but it was more horror when he published it. At the time of publication, vivisections of animals was banned unless considered absolutely necessary due to a law in the 1870's but the law wasn't enforced and it was still a common practice for people practicing "science". The book was a way of giving animals a "human" voice to express their pain and torment that they experienced from these horrible experiments.

Thank you, yes I know. The science wasn't why it didn't sit well with me.

August was a disappointing reading month for me and I think I'm in a bit of a slump. But I hope it will turn around soon. If you haven't read Carmilla by Sheridan le Fanu and you are in the mood for a shorter classic with a gothic feel and vampyres, then I higly recomend you check it out. I read it last year and think I might re-read it this fall.

Boo, slump. It's been a bit since I read anything in the vampyre vein, but I do love gothic. I'm adding it to my recommendations list.
