It seems like the idea was derived from some of the old Tower Defense games that have come out on various video game systems, computers and android apps using very similar towers. Although I have to say this is intriguing because unlike like a game like Castle Panic this feels more involved and a bit more on the advanced side of things which is a definite welcome surprise. Intriguing without a doubt. the theme seems interchangeable but let's face it with Tower Defense games that's pretty much a no-brainer. my favorite tower defense game ever played was this little tiny port game called Dragon Defense where you would face off against different colored dragons that had various forms of magic they would use against you so you had to put together just the right combination of counter spell cards to destroy each dragon. Way way back on the PSP system. Can't wait to see the final product this looks great thanks for the run through.
As Richard mentions in the video, Defense Grid was originally a tower defense video game (with a sequel) which was then made into this board game. Both games are really really good, i highly recommend them.
I'm curious if I am missing something, is there a good reason to build things in preparation for future waves? What I mean is this, you built a cannon and a gun before the first monsters entered, then got caught a bit off guard when they slow played it, so you built a tesla in the exact position to catch them. Is there some reason not to hold off all your building to perfectly catch them in your fire? I guess resource caps if you want to discard cards? I'm excited for the extended play, didn't see it when I navigated here, so I was worried this was going to be the extent of the runthrough.
well, since you get to redraw your entire hand every round, spending a round not using cards is wasted opportunity. and you do want to go throught he deck as fast as possible to get to the more powerful cards more often...
If you have not already, you have to get the computer games - Defense Grid , all of the expansion packs, and Defense Grid 2. Spoiler Alert: You will freak out when you find out who Zacara actually is.
Hey Rahdo, really like how you're enthusiastic and keep it interesting,.. can you please consider using a tripod for your camera in future videos? All the camera movement made me feel a bit sick and I couldn't finish watching the video, which is a shame. Awesome video otherwise.
I do like Rahdo reviews a lot but damn... it's the 23rd minute I'm watching at the moment and it still didn't fire a single time! Getting sick of too much talking and no action here!
As a huge fan of the Defense Grid computer games, I feel that it is my duty to back this one. :)
