Elgar's Nimrod, an absolutely wonderful piece of music. Gets me every time.

'Nimrod', such a sad piece of music. We will remember them. Even more moving it being played on 'hallow' ground in Ypres.

That Scottish lament was magnificent, great playing on the flute

On the left of the screen, mixed with the public, there are two guys wearing British WWI uniforms: me and my dear friend Marco, both reenactors of the 12th Durham Light Infantry, both Italian. It's not the first time we go to Ypres to pay our respect to the fallen, but this time the ceremony had been very moving. Lest we forget.

First time I’ve ever heard Flowers of the Forest played like this - beautiful but I still like it on the pipes

I know I am stupid but every time hear Nimrod I start crying. The piece was never intended to be a piece about remembrance death and service. Like Barbers Adgio (Platoon) it as become to symbolise service and sadly death.

who is the Director of music ? what band did he come from before his appointment to the HD ? good work by the buglers by the way , I think its safe to say the bugle is an easy instrument to play but hard to play well, they played very well.

What was the tune just before the God save the Queen ? A scottish lament ? Very beautiful indeed.

The Flowers of the Forest. A Scottish lament about the battle of Flodden in 1513 I believe.

No thanks. The Scottish laments and tunes are DESIGNED to be played on the bagpipes, with drone and skirl....This doesn't do them justice, in my opinion....
