I have one of these installed and have seen the following. I get over 500 watts of charging when the the engine is running. It will shut down when it senses voltage under 12.5 volts which is where I have it set. It has worked great so far. I use it on a Pecron E3600 which has 3 different solar inputs. I run the Pecron 500 into one, and my 400 watt solar panel inot another and still have a input for another small panel. This is a great priced unit at less than half the price of the BLuetti version.
This is the way to go for sure. A backup solar panel or two for times when the vehicle doesn't get started very often but you'd rarely need them. Thanks for sharing, still putting my system together
Totally agree! A panel is always good to have not just for back up but as you're camping and have good sunlight why not charge it as you're "sitting idle". Appreciate you
It depends on your application. It's based on when you want it to start charging. You can leave it connected, when the vehicle is turned off it will shut itself off.
I'm not sure, here's the link for their user manual: User Manual: cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0509/5263/4556/files/PECRON_DC1242-500_-20231117_1.pdf?v=1709618500
It's adjustable for that reason, everyone's application is different. Your vehicle, alternator and power station. Set yours based on what is best for your set up. Check out their website to help guide you on what will work best for you.
curious - Bluetti was first to come out with this type of car charger interface unit - why didn't you get the Bluetti version as opposed to the Pecron?
That's a great question! I'm, not sure. I have two lithium batteries on my trailer but never have had to recharge them while camping. That would be a great question to ask Pecron, I don't know if that would cause a problem with the alternator since you can charge lithium batteries at or just over 100%
Yes the way to do it, is you'll have to buy a MPPT controller. The Pecron 500w acts like a solar panel giving you 40v+ so to convert that incoming power to charge your lifepo4 batteries you'll need an MPPT solar controller which you then hook up to your lifepo4 batteries. If you have a solar panel that is about 400-600watts, your controller can be used to charge your batteries from the pecron.
Pecron was more reasonably priced and it was compatible with my Bluetti. It works well, the ease of installation and the compact design is why I went with this Pecron.
I would be curious to see how it is affecting your alternator. I see some of these devices drop the voltage down to under 13V when it's charging the powerstation. Hopefully they have these in stock. I use the Bluetti AC180 for my Land Cruiser 80.
I was monitoring the voltage and it was good as I had it connected and charging. The device also has built in fans, you will hear them every so often while charging..
Hmmm… wonder if this setup would be more beneficial to me. I have a bluetti ac180 and a Go Power 1500 watt pure sine wave that I installed in the bed of my 2015 Toyota Tundra. I have a Retrax PowertraxPRO MX to keep everything dry. The inverter is also secured to my BEDSLIDE 1500. Easy to access it by pulling out the bedslide all the way out. What are your thoughts between your setup and the one I have? Thank you.
Sounds like you have a great set up! How do you charge your power station? Solar? This smart charger works awesome! I no longer need solar panels, anytime I camp I pull my Conqueror trailer and unhook my Jeep because we like to explore in the woods and take our kayaks to the nearby lakes and gather wood in the forest. So this set up works great for us because we just connect our power station to the pecron and charge it while we drive around. I hope this is helpful.
I don't believe so. However I did watch a video where someone was using it to charge a power station with a direct lithium battery. Ofcourse without the alternator it will eventually die, but an option
Thanks for sharing, I have one coming today. Just out of curiosity...what setting did you use to adjust the volts to? I realize it will be different depending on your battery and alternator, but it seems most are setting theirs to the 13 volt mark. Looks like a beautiful camping spot. Liked and subbed.👍 Be safe all 🙏
Pecron shipping is terrible! Been months since I ordered from Pecron and still hasn't been shipped! I've given up and just ordered a Bluetti charger 1 which is 580 watts and can charge any power stations

I totally agree! It's a fantastic smart charger. Sounds like you have power for days with your set up. That's awesome!

what adjustment did you make and what happens if you forget to turn it off?

What type of fuse is the inline fuse on the positive cable? Thanks

Great Video. Does it come with all the wiring harnesses?
Thank you and yes it does.
Bro forgot important thing. What adjustment did you do to make it to 400+ watts?
It's adjustable for that reason, everyone's application is different. Your vehicle, alternator and power station. Set yours based on what is best for your set up. Check out their website to help guide you on what will work best for you.
@ i have ac180 planning to buy this pecron charger what do you think is the best setting?
curious - Bluetti was first to come out with this type of car charger interface unit - why didn't you get the Bluetti version as opposed to the Pecron?
Bluetti now has a similar charger, not at the time I was searching for one. I would have still gone with Pecron because of it's design and price.
Hi, can I use that charger to charge lithium battery instead power station?
That's a great question! I'm, not sure. I have two lithium batteries on my trailer but never have had to recharge them while camping. correction - Eco Flow was first - you stated compatibility with all stations - just trying to avoid issues before I get out there

Time to get a high output alternator from DC Power or Mechman

Just subscribed. 👍🙂
Another thing I forgot to mention is the inverter and all accessories are running to my second battery.
415 watts is awesome. Especially coming from a small device.

Bluetti charger 1 works for all power stations
Nice! Didn't realize that, thank you for letting us know. Appreciate your feedback.
Can you charge your lituim battery using the pecron dc to dc?
I don't believe so. However I did watch a video where someone was using it to charge a power station with a direct lithium battery. Ofcourse without the alternator it will eventually die, but an option
Have tried using the portable battery while charging it to your pecron?
Thanks for sharing, I have one coming today.

Oh man sorry to hear. They must be on back order, when I ordered mine I received it two days later.
🔥
Thank you
Were you trying to produce a video WITHOUT SOUND…? If so, you almost succeeded.
lol, appreciate your feedback. I will do better next time. Thank you
this is the most expensive per watt electricity you will ever buy
You think so? What other options do you suggest?
Unwatchable if you don’t have a mic.
Thank you for your feedback. I was out camping in the woods, this video wasn't really planned. I'll make sure to consider that.
You lost me at 13 amp max output.
lol
