      This is likely why a lot of our grandmother's aged so beautifully. My nanny used this for years and years. She's in her 80s now and looks 20 years younger than her age. She always has. And was a smoker on and off for years. She used to use this and noxema on me when I was a little girl. I stopped using cold cream when I discovered make up wipes, probably in my teens. I never should have done that, I'm 32 now. I've recently gone back to the ponds. I feel like my skin is going to thank me for it later.

    Ponds Cold Cream Cleanser brings back childhood memories of Halloween. My mom would have me take off my Halloween makeup with the cream and I used it as my makeup remover as I got older and started wearing makeup as a teen. I double cleansed before I knew what double cleansing was. But then around 2014 I was introduced to makeup wipes from my friend and did that, and then around 2017 I was doing micellar water. I’m now going back to double cleansing with ponds because it was so much better and sometimes you have to stray from your holy grail to truly know how good it is.
    Edit: I’m 26 years old, so in my case this was my mother’s cold cream 😉

In the morning before make up I do a light cleanse with Noxzema(Old school cleansing cream but not suitable around eyes), Moisturize with old-school oil of olay in the pink jar. I learned the skin care regime from my grandmother and it truly has been the best I’ve ever followed.

    I know this might be a dumb question but I was wondering how you wash it?? I'd be worried about putting it in the washing machine with all the cold cream on it. Do you think its safe to wash it by hand in the sink? or would it clog the drain?

I have combination skin but since I've been using ponds to remove my make up and "pre-cleanse" my skin has seemed to not break out as much...too early to tell if it's a real connection yet but I'm definitely sticking with it for now.

    I have a rare genetic skin disorder called ichthyosis, where the skin is perpetually dry due to missing the part of the skin that retains moisture, and the skin doesn't shed normally but makes scales that have to be scrubbed and soaked off. Yet my face was oily because I developed PCOS, then severe tunneling cystic acne because the scales block the pores and the oil can't flow out. I never got the care I should have as a child, so I never knew how to take care of myself, I didn't know why I was so different until a few years ago - I finally found a doctor who knew what I had. But I was past middle age, far too late to try to fix deep pitted scars and craters that have to be filled with professional makeup putty to have a smooth even surface. I look at videos like yours, and I wish I could have been pretty once in my life like you, but Mother Nature threw the book at me before I was born.

      Oh Darling, I am sure you are DIVINE and BEAUTIFUL in own way. Everyone are beautiful in their own way. I understand all you have been through, and I so wish for you that you learn how to love and appreciate yourself.
      Find little things that makes you feel beautiful, take a day in the week for a mini spa at home.
      Like putting a hair mask on your hair, or look what kind of facials, lotions, oils and creams your skin accept better, so you can do it all at home. Do your nails(there are hypoallergenic polishes on the market) and voila, you are going to feel better.
      Take care of you and find little things that will make you feel better about yourself, little by little you are going to feel better.

    as a european it's relatively harder to find products labelled as cold cream so when i first got interested in historical beauty products i when to a specialised store/ pharmacy and got myself some avene cold cream soap cleanser it cleared my acne on day one (i also turned 18 and entered university at that time so it might also be some hormone/ life change type of stuff) after awhile life got in the way but i decided to start my routine again earlier this year. the products i loved have changed a bt and i didn't have quite the right routine, i looked more tired and more red than i used to and my moisturizer always seemed to lay on top of my face. I've been down with the biggest bronchitis of my life these last two week and in my days long spent in bed on youtube, i wanted to look at vintage cold cream videos as a soothing pass time and i remembered that the blue tin nivea cream (created around 1904, 1907 or 1911 i believe?) was considered a cold cream by some people and since the infection made its way into my eyes and i wasn't willing to use my hard soap i figured it was as good a time as any to try the nivea "cold cream" as a cleanser. At first it felt like i was shoving mineral oil into my pores but on the second day i used a lot more and i massaged like a cleanser before swiping it off and after a few days, one wash where i used my avene soap and one where i used retinol mixed in a nivea moisturizer (all of those were products i used in a similar way in the past few months wiht my skin looking well taken care of if a bit red and tired) and now, i my skin looks the best it has looked since i was 12 i understand now what those edwardian and victorian people said when they were mentioning "complextion" it's like my skin color turned right....NOW, i still suspect it doesn't do much to my skin in terms of hydration and my pores might still be clogged as fuck SO i am still going to use my other products in conjunction to this one and for the swiping i might either saw myself some linen wipes or take the fabric handkerchiefs i have at home, i still have to know i i'd rather use the cold cream at night and the soap in the morning or vice versa.
    TL;DR: if you want to try cold cream and you live in western europe where you can't find pond or anything at drugstore price, the basic nivea cream in a blue tin works wonders for me so far

      The Nivea in blue tins made in Germany is actually really sought after from us in the states because it is thicker and has less ingredients! It's a great cold cream. My sister gave me some cucumber melon cold cream from a company in the states and I'm guessing it's similar to ponds. Love the smell of the cucumber! But the ponds smells nice too.

    Im new to cleansing balms, i loved the granny smell and i chose it for the sake of trying vintage brands 😂. My skin is soo dry and dehydrated and wow, it feels like butter on the skin. You do feel the residue of it, even after you wash your face with another cleanser. I kind of like it for that reason since my skin always feel dry after washing. But im not sure if serums can penetrate the skin after using it. You probably dont even need a moisturizer at the end of your routine because it leaves that well moisturized feeling on your face. It's really decent at taking off your makeup, but since it leaves that layer of residue on the skin, it can feel like your face is still dirty lol.

    • @MissMonMon
      @MissMonMon 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find that depending on what type of cleanser I use after the cold cream, sometimes I do still feel a residue and sometimes I don't. My skin is super dry so I always still add a hydrating toner, serum and then moisturiser after cleansing. Or else my skin is basically a desert :/

    Actually I've made my own cold cream, based on a vintage 1911 recipe (I have no problem using beeswax), they're quite easy to make.
    I have started using it for the past couple of weeks, and I'm happy with it so far, some of the patches of pimples I have are clearing up 😁. I've used the oil cleansing method for many years, so I knew makeup removal would be a breeze.
    I don't like the idea of using mineral oil on my skin, but I do feel my recipe could do with some finessing, and I might try Pond's cold cream just to see the difference.

    • @MissMonMon
      @MissMonMon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, never drag a wash cloth over your face with force, it's so bad for your skin. I honestly found that I don't have to use any force to wipe off the cold cream. If I gently rub it all over my skin in circular motions for a minute or so, that's enough to break down the makeup and the cloth just gently wipes the cream away. There's not need to scrub back and forth! Hope this helps!

      I suppose everyone has a different skin type and of course makeup products. I have been testing cold cream for close to a year now and find it does remove everything if I take my time with it. Sometimes if I don't focus on an area there is still some makeup left. In saying that, I always double cleanse and use a normal cleanser after but I've been double cleansing for over 5 years and it's just a habit. You can always give it a go and see what happens.

      make sure you are double cleansing after, as this is mainly a makeup remover. also, follow LABeautyologist 60 second rule! game changing :)

      Hi darling! I'm not quite sure what you're asking; for my face I use Pond's cold cream and then either Laneige or Cosrx to follow. As for my body soap, I just use good old Dove.
