I stopped attaching any importance to the grammy about a decade ago. It was already clear then that the awarding is based much more on how popular the song/album/artist got rather than how good it is. Proof: "Call Me Maybe" was nominated for two grammies!

Michael always was black and always proudly spoke up for the black community and black artists.
MJ is also the reason black artists got Aired on MTV as Mikes music plus videos was too good and mega not to air eg billie jean beat it THRILLER , he broke down barriers in music for black artists and many love and appreciate him for it.
It's ashame and sad if you went off of Michael Jackson just because his skin changed colour because of a skin disease. Look up the FACTS and you will see vitiligo.
