It’s for off-road purposes, it’s quite amazing actually, you can climb very steep hills at low RPM. The best part is actually going down hill , you can put the gearbox in 1st - 2nd gear & roll down without having to touch your brake pedal whatsoever.

Is it any good. I’ve never tried it on my 2005 ml350
It has a lot more torque than usual, but the top speed is capped around 50 mph according to forums. Very fun to use though.
