As a guy who does side jobs as my main job, they are pretty much always going to pay better because you determine the price. But they require more finesse and skill. it's up to you to get them..which means marketing. Basically what you're paying these apps to do when they take 50% of the money charged to the customer is marketing. However some of those app runs can be good. Especially when it's not a lot of physical work, risk or skill...just driving. Dolly definitely seems to be the worst of all worlds, paying lower rates than catering food when you're what you're doing is physical work requiring risk, skill and van/driving/vehicle expenses.
Side jobs are definitely better!! Using the apps to build clientele.

You can get scammed by the apps just did a food delivery for Senpex. 10 miles deadhead 32+ loaded miles for $43. - $11 for fuel $33 = $16 a hour. Took two hours with traffic excluding return back fuel or time. Minimum wage I believe is higher in California.

Which apps would you recommend if you live in larger cities?
Side jobs are better. I made 500 from a direct client from dolly and I doubt I'd ever make that on dolly

Jerome are you trying to find the MOST profitable gig/app? Or what’s your long term goal with this van? Always wondered if you could bring in net $1k a week w the van after alll expenses but not sure
Depends on your area and your expenses. My expenses are not going to be the same as yours, so where I might clear $100]/week, you might have a large van pronk I'm just trying as many things as possible, until I find that ONE! My goal is to get out the van and put someone else in it in my place.
Why not do load boards or local contracts and not the gig apps ? Honest question, I been thinking about doing this but I need to stay local so looking for contracts , but I need to make over 1k a week if I’m going to be working for my self.

@@carsandcribs don’t get me wrong I respect your work I really do it just that in my opinion companies make people work double or triple in order to earn a few dollars I did tree work for 3 years very very hard and Dangerous job but $9.50 to $15.00 at the most for 10 12 14 hour a day so that’s why my comment nothing personal 👍
