I love how you said at the end "you can go back". That's very realistic cuz a lot of these natural hair TH-camrs talk about going natural like you're just going to fall in love with it right away. And it takes time to love your curls especially when you've been wearing straight hair for a long time. I started transitioning but I'm getting silk presses until I'm able to master certain styles.
Thanks so much for sharing. People don't understand how hard it is to have to do your hair all the time. My hair was heat damaged because I enjoyed going to the salon and paying someone else to do it.
Just just awesome! The patience you had to achieve you hair goals. Your hair😍. I'm 6 months completely natural. No heat, no hair vitamins, no comb. I was natural for 8 years but I used heat
Your hair has always been beautiful, long, and gorgeous!! Even before you started your hair journey!!! Loved the video and thanks for sharing it with us!!! 😊
girl this is off the subject of your beautiful hair & warm spirit...do you have grey lenses on? or was it the lighting in the pictures making your eyes darker? either way.. they are gorgeous.. so glad I subscribed!
Great video. Love all the pictures.I did the same as you. I didn't big chop either. First I just stop relaxing then just got my hair press then i stopped pressing my hair and just wore it in a bun or pin up in a roll then I started to see my curls come back slowly.(I didn't know what a big chop 💇♀️was until I started watching U-Tube in 2012-2013)thanks for sharing.BTW your hair is beautiful 😍
Wait so you still have the relaxed ends?? Or you just slowly trimmed them off over time? Sorry if you've explained that and I just missed it. I made it about 18 months before I had to chop off the relaxed ends all in one go. One day I was trying to detangle my hair and that whole "line of demarcation" was driving me nuts so I went in with the scissors. And the rest is history!
Omg... You did an amazing job.. Towards the end of the video, I was totally crushing on your hair and all the different styles you did. And your makeup skills were poppin'... Keep up the great work. Thank you for sharing!
Yes, yes, yes. I am sticking to my regimen and it works. You have to give yourself time. I wear crochet braids, get my hair trimmed once every four months Februray, June and October. I want to wear my hair out so bad, but I can't do it for long periods of time. I have to keep my hands out of my hair and hidden/tucked away.
thanks for sharing your hair video, even though I am probably seeing this late. it goes to show that if black women can really learn there hair type, how to work with it, embrace it and let it be what it is, then you'll reap the reward.
Wow, you're an inspiration. I'm so used to seeing girls big chopping to go natural. It's refreshing to see someone with long hair who didn't big chop. Oh, you look very young& pretty. Love your hair. God bless. ❤👍
I agree with MRSKINKY1 my hair was never the length it is now I was getting my hair pressed professional since the age of 6 along with my mom. when I turned 21 I decided to perm it I also wore hair color since the age of 16 I am now 50 and I decided to go natural 4 years ago and my hair is the longest it ever been. my mom was shocked. like the youtubers are saying moisturize moisturize moisturize and leaving that heat along and you will see major hair growth..
Thank you so so much for sharing this! I'm about a year into my hair journey now. Not gonna lie, got a little overwhelmed when I saw what your hair looks like now (I saw your most recent videos before this one). It's very nice and refreshing to know that you didn't just get your hair that way overnight...a lot of other vloggers make it seem like they've always had hair like that with little to no effort. It gives me a little more hope and optimism that I can one day have your length too :) Also, I love your twists and curls....they look stunning on you!
Thanks so much for the nice comments and hopefully I can be motivation for you. Regarding growth oils, I've never tried them before, but I wouldn't be opposed to it.
First ❤ I enjoyed your natural hair journey to waist length. Your hair is so beautiful. Was there one thing that you could remember that was a game changer that contributed to retaining all that length? Did you ever get discouraged? Please share 🤗
Thanks for watching! I think the game changer was no heat! If you noticed in the video, my hair grew a lot in those nine months. Also being consistent with my hair helped as well.
DSFAVORS Hi! When you say "being consistent with my hair" what exactly does that mean?? What exactly did you do? My hair always seems so dry no matter what I do! Plus super itchy scalp
OMG!! I needed that inspiration. I'm about to start my journey.. my problem is that I recently had a hair cut so now my hair is about ear length and I have no idea how to style it..
My hair is mid back and i straigten 98% of the tie. but I yearn for my hair to be tail bone length. i Know the heat is a factor. Your hair journey is an inspiration!
Your hair is beautiful. One question tho, when you started your journey did you have a perm to deal with or was your hair never processed rather just straightened on a scheduled basis?
I did get relaxers but not on a regular basis. Only if i thought my roots were getting out of hand. Then I just started to get my hair straightened all the time and I thought it looked healthy, but once I stopped with the heat I could tell that it wasnt! lol
Hi. I have had a relaxer in my hair for the past 19 years. I woke up one day a month ago and decided I was tired of it and so I have decided to go natural. Do you think I will have to big chop out my relaxed hair? or trim it as I go along? or leave it be? Also do you take any hair vitamins? I haven't seen you talk about them in the videos I've watched so far. Oh and I love your videos, you're so real.
I think you should do what's best for you. My ends were damaged from heat, but I didn't cut them off all at once, I just trimmed a little at a time and it worked for me. Now let me say this.....sometimes my hair looked crazy cuz the curl pattern wasn't right so I focused on wearing it in twists or something. No I don't take hair vitamins, but I"m not against them. I had a past experience with some pills that I will probably post sometime in the future. Thanks for watching!
Relaxers permanently change your hair pattern. There isn't a product on the market today that can reverse permed strands. Big chop or gradual cutting relaxed strands is the only way to return your hair to its natural non chemical stage. No product on the market can change hair density. But taking supplements can help. Diet, exercise, medications, and genes are factors too. Keeping it 100.
How long was ur hair when you started your healthy hair journey in 2012? I think the video is a bit misleading. From reading the comments I got that you had already been natural for 7 years or so before you started your healthy hair journey in 2012. So in all actuality you have about 12 years of natural hair growth which got you to tailbone length...correct?? I'm just asking bcuz my OCD and the math didn't add up. I'm not trying to be shady so plz don't take it that way. I think you and your hair are absolutely gorgeous! But when you say it took 4 years to grow ur hair to waistlength I think it sends the message that you went from hvn no hair to waistlength hair in 4 years...Please clarify. Thanks.
The pictures speak for themselves, so I'm not sure what you're confused about. I had hair, so I didn't go from bald to waist length, I never did a big chop. I"m not sure where the 12 years came from in your calculation. If you look at it that way, then actually it was 31 years of growth because that's how I old I was 2013 and I've been having the same hair my whole life. I started my healthy hair journey in 2013. My hair grew tremendously and I posted pictures from 2013 to 2017 to show how much it grew in those FOUR years. The pictures for 2012 were just for background information for clarity. I"m not a shady TH-camr that's selling dreams, I'm actually trying to encourage people. Thank you
You chronicle from 2014 through 2016 exponential hair growth and density. You should bottle and sell your regime cuz I'm sure investors around the world would want in.
Nice video, as always! I tried to transition without cutting my hair, I just couldn't manage two vastly different hair types...😒 After experiencing a "Heat Miser" moment (my scarf fell off one night and when I woke up - my head LITERALLY LOOKED LIKE HEAT MISER!). I decided to just big chop 😫. #itwasamesssszzzz!
Your hair is twice as long when straightened. Shrinkage is something isn't it? While my hair is not as long but my shrinkage is about half my length, but I love my hair anyway!
I've been natural for 3 years and my hair is super curly everywhere except the front...its wavy. It's frustrating because it looks weird to me. Is there anyway to fix it? Or should i just wait on all my hair to get the same length and loosen up as it gets longer?
Temeka Young mine is the same way, You have a different texture in the front, I usually finger coil to get my front to blend with the rest of my hair lol.!
With this type of hair it’s easy to grow out and not having to cut it and it don’t often fall out. I have a few relatives with this type and yeah grows galore
Yes I've had relaxers but not on a regular basis. I was mainly doing salon flat irons on high heat. I thought it was better than relaxers but my hair was still damaged and I didn't even know it.

Hi D, Love the video! I'm a bit confused were you relaxed or were you just getting your natural hair flat ironed and/ or blow dryed?
The last time I had a relaxer was in 2005 and after that, I started getting my hair straightened every week. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Beautiful hair! Even your 2012 pictures I'd take that now honestly lol.
lol!! Thanks so much and hang in there. I promise it will get better!
Just just awesome! The patience you had to achieve you hair goals. Your hair😍. I'm 6 months completely natural. No heat, no hair vitamins, no comb. I was natural for 8 years but I used heat

Omg... You did an amazing job.. Towards the end of the video, I was totally crushing on your hair and all the different styles you did. And your makeup skills were poppin'... Keep up the great work. Thank you for sharing!
That was such a nice comment, thank you!
Ok why does it look like your getting younger, lol Benjamin Button you!!! Your hair is beautiful, thanks for sharing!
That's so sweet! Guess my moisturizer is working. lol

I believe most Hair growth is Education &Effort options more than Genetics! Do the work reap the results!
I agree
Thanks for sharing.
Gawwwwgeous hair! Just wanted to know your hair type, I think I may have the same curl pattern as you.
I think i have several curl patterns in my hair, but mostly 4.
❣️WOW❣️. Great journey! Transitioning was, definitely, a win.
Your twists are beautiful
thank you
I believe most of hair growth is mainly genetics
That could be true

keep watching youtube the're a lot of styles for your hair length.
You'll be fine. Trust me, I went through an awkward phase as well. Stay with it.
You got amazing results. Gorgeous hair.
You give me hope. Were u ever relaxed?
Yeah I was relaxed back in 2005 but I after I stopped getting relaxers I started getting my hair straightened every week. Thanks for watching!

How do you straighten your hair? A video detailing that process would be cool. Loving your vids btw. Subscribed today.
I have a video where I show how I straighten my hair. Thanks
Great video and good inspiration! I think I just got a cup of courage.
Thanks for watching and I'm glad I could help!

Best hair journey I have seen! Thank you!!
Awwww thank you so much.

Hi hun, great video! New subbie here...Just to be clear, did you ever have a relaxer?
Yeah i had relaxers on and off years before i went "natural". I had been getting my hair straightened A LOT for three years before i cut out the heat.
no big chop lol ya girl was like her hair grew that long in four years???? haha but that makes a lot more sense now. Still hair goals!
Thanks so much!
I love your hair it is so long and you can put in diffrent hairstyles 😉😉😙😙😘😘👍🏽
Your hair is twice as long when straightened. Shrinkage is something isn't it? While my hair is not as long but my shrinkage is about half my length, but I love my hair anyway!

YASSS GURL ! Hair crush
Congrats and good luck with your journey!
Your hair is so beautiful! Goals 😁
Thanks!
What was your regimen? And how did you keep your relaxed ends from breaking off?
I have a regimen video that explains everthing
She didn't have relaxed ends. She had heat trained/ heat damaged hair.
I think the curly hair makes you look younger.
Gorgeous! I twist my hair every night with the exception of the night prior to wash day.
It's a lot of work, but it's worth it!
I've been natural for 3 years and my hair is super curly everywhere except the front...its wavy. It's frustrating because it looks weird to me. Is there anyway to fix it? Or should i just wait on all my hair to get the same length and loosen up as it gets longer?

trillchickk I have that too but it doesn't matter what I do it still remains straight in the front and it's so annoying 😫
Kpop Is bae Lol I plan to cut mine into a bang then grow it back out, Yes it's annoying it limits our styles lol
How long would it take you to do your mini twists?
Girrrrrrrrrrrl......it seemed like it took forever because my arms were so tired. It's been so long but I think it took about six hours.
DSFAVORS yea that's definitely a long time lol
Beautiful!
thank you
With this type of hair it’s easy to grow out and not having to cut it and it don’t often fall out. I have a few relatives with this type and yeah grows galore
that's the debate I had with my co-workers. you transitioned... I had no patience for it. Well done lady.
can't wait till my hair gets this long!😊
Thank you

Very inspirational.
Thank you so much.
Yasssss I love it!

Gorgeous hair...beautiful woman. It's funny you seem to be aging in reverse...
Do you have tutorials on your twist styles?
I have a tutorial on a twist-out, but not the mini-twists.
This hair 😍😍😍
Wow gorgeous 👏👏👏👏
Thank you.

Another great video! I'm starting my journey (4mos. in) and plan on not big chopping... going for the long haul. Many thanks for your testimony 😊

Hello love your vids..but did u ever do THE BIG CHOP or did you just trim
Notification Gang...! Lol
Thanks!

Thanks!
So you never cut your hair in transitioning? I love your hair it’s beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
High Class it doesn’t look like she ever did a big cut, just stopped relaxing it. Her texture allowed her to do this without a big chop
@@droosyg252 she didn't have a relaxer...she straightened it every week.
wow nice hair
Thanks!
Nice journey....that music is no bueno lol

I have a question. Were you relaxed??
Yes I've had relaxers but not on a regular basis. I was mainly doing salon flat irons on high heat. I thought it was better than relaxers but my hair was still damaged and I didn't even know it.
Do you even bother to answer comments? Beautiful content btw.
