It seems Domicius had two terrible defects: one was the ability to keep the empire united, peaceful and carrying out its main administrative and military activities; the other was dedication to the public cause. He stood out neither for Nero's excesses of personal display, nor for Caligula's cruelty, nor for Julius Caesar's ambition of immortalization through military conquests. In a world where noble and proud young men yearned for great things or for great inhuman exaggerations that would compel them to act, Domicius was an emperor who made the Roman elite bored. And as we know, the Romans were terrible enemies when they were angry and in a position to avenge an offense, but they were secretive and virulent friends when they died of boredom.

For all of his amazing contributions to Roman society. Domitian was rated harshly by historians. It's hard to judge his reign due to the fact that the senate at that time was so corrupt and thought of Domitian as the ":weak" one of his family. His assassination was definitely set up by the senate who wasted no time in promoting their own to emperor even before Domitian's death was fully announced throughout Rome.

He was a very good, very underrated Emperor. He balanced the budget, stopped inflation, had the support of the troupes, and won many battles. He played a vital role in setting things up for close to 100 years of prosperity. And by the way, as for being a tyrant, the beloved Claudius had more people executed than Domitian did.

He was truly a great emperor he saw the senate for what they were a useless conclave of rich men who only cared about power/person gain. So once he died they were still around and they absolutely hated him so thats why they wrote so much bad about him. But he doesn't deserve the hate he reminds of cladius he was very good also the only good emperor after agustus. The only good emperor in the Julio claduian dynasty i meant. Tiberius was good at first also but ya lol. And the other 2 were just mad

I love how the Roman "wall" against my distant ancestors was basically a long garden fence to keep cattle thieves and opportunists out 😂 Somehow, this looks more like some kind of border immigration control than actual military fortification.
To be fair, the Chinese Wall did not really work as intended, so maybe the Romans were just more realistic about it 😏
