I discovered The Interrupters years ago when I bought tickets to see Rancid on tour. The show I saw in Seattle was their first big live show, and I could tell Aimee was so nervous..but she killed it. The whole band killed it. “Take Back the Power” did it for me. I’ve been a fan ever since.
Can relate on how I got into this band. I'm from a smaller city in Australia, flew to Melbourne to see Green Day on the 2017 Revolution Radio Tour. At this point Ive never really gone to many big concerts like this and didn't know bands had opening acts. These guys opened for Green Day and they blew me away. This song "take back the power", fell in love with it and the band, been a fan ever since 😁

As Adam said, and I am speaking only to the politics of the Libertarian Party in the United States and not to the band's personal views. In France you could probably explain their politics as laissez-faire. In the United States the Libertarian Party leans to a more strict and literal reading of the Constitution, specifically the first ten amendments known as the "Bill of Rights". With those ten the rights of the people Libertarians lean considerably left of center giving much power to the individual citizen and limiting the ways the government can interfere with the personal livelihood of the individual. Fiscally however, the rest of the Constitution lays out very specific at times and irritatingly vague at other rules to managing money spending and legal powers allowed to the federal government. This is where US Libertarians lean decidedly right of center and wish to leave social welfare and federal interference to a minimum, or almost nothing. Libertarians almost wholly believe that the individual should not be taxed or should be taxed at the minimum which goes against Left social financing. They also believe that financial institutions should be left alone and that goes against left leaning corporate tax (ironically it also goes against neo-conservative tax breaks for corporations). For this reason Libertarians in the United States often fall on the same right of center metric given to world politics but mostly because that metric is given to a scale or more government ----- less government. Things only get murky when the two extremes end up with dictators because a left --- right government scale always includes government. In the United States Libertarians are for LGBT+ individualism, they are anti-capitalist, and anti racism but they also leave freedom to be anti LGBT+, pro-capitalist, and racist as all people are allowed to have their own voice, even if it is a shitty one. Also, to note, I am not a Libertarian, I am a governmental scholar and do not believe that Libertarianism is a viable solution as it is too idealistic in its laissez-faire view of economics.
Libertarian is opposite on the social scale from authoritarian. Left is opposite on the scale from the right. A left Libertarian=Noam Chomsky. A right Libertarian= Ayn Rand. As far as racism is concerned; neither left, nor right and neither libertarian, nor authoritarian are without adherents who believe in its tenets.
