Thank you so much for explaining this slowly and clearly. And you also explained what a short row is. Often simple "given" information is not explained assuming we already know this. But for newer knitters, assuming nothing is known is extremely helpful! Thank you! Now I can go jump in to my project with more confidence. :)
Thanks for this short and to the point video. I always learn the most from KnitPurlhunter videos. Some people talk too much about nothing, before actually showing you the stitch technique, but you're right to the point.
I spent hours last night searching thru videos for this technique, and found yours, totally awesome. I agree with Gmd199 (comment below), yours is by far the best! Very explanatory, and your ability to convey the message makes it so easy to understand. Thank you. I look forward to watching many more of your vids.. thank you again. :)
THANK YOU for your clear and precise video, Ihave just completed making the right angle corner on a leaf braid border that will surround a finish off a large tree of life afghan that I am making. Mary-Ellen
Thank you, thank you , thank you! So clear and now I know exactly where each stitch/piece of yarn belongs! So simple yet how many others just kinda say follow me ..... see wasn't that easy! No it's not!
I love your videos, they are cler and concise, especially for new sock knitters! I hve been doing the short row garter heel for about 12 pairs now and love it. Have recommended it to everyone in my knitting group. I especially like the new revisions..no adding stitches when beginning the heel. Some of the group was wonderig if you would create a new video using the wrap and turn method for a regular looking heel,(knit and purl)? Would you add any stitches to the start of the decrease?
hi! I'm doing two socks on magic loop - cuff down (UP?) I have read patterns/videos that suggest you do ONE heel completely, then the next one. On magic loop I assume I do just knit stitches? If you have this on a pattern on ravelry let me know and I'll snag it. Have you tried the Sweet Tomato Heel? Thanks...love your videos! Dr Karen
Thanks- you saved me! I used your 4 videos and it got me through my first taat sock! (for others: watch the 2 part short row heel, the taat heel and this for the stitch) I was a bit confused bc I was using more stitiches than you were on my pattern (someone else on here wrote and said I could NOT change a sock pattern or I had to work the stitches / heel as the pattern had written!...funny didn't think that was the case) SO I did my math (I had 56/28 stitches so I did a 9-10 -9 short row! Worked perfectly). For others: I watched the short row video through -I took notes first. Then with my needles in hand I turned the video on and off and had you walk me through each row (mine were longer- lots of pausing) .This worked like a charm. I know this is an older video but with 176K hits you are helping a LOT of sock knitters! I know I'm gushing- I'm a shrink, I believe people don't here THANK YOU and YOU WERE GREAT nearly enough...so THANK YOU YOU WERE GREAT!!! (Oh the TAAT heel helping me understand what to do -some people take a heel off (I manage to mess up the stitches...don't ask). Also, thanks for doing 2 colors in the TAAT sock- wish I had done that- hmm maybe I should make 2 pairs at a time, one yarn on each needle! I'm working the foot now...take care and keep it up.I've had a lot of knitting teachers, and you are fabulous!
the pattern I am knitting has the wrap and turn, I have done the first row so I am on my next row do I purl 71 from my left needle before I do my next wrap and turn or do I count the stitches on my right needle as part of the 71 I need to purl xx
Since the pattern does not specify a type of decrease, you can use a kfb or M1. Work the row as *k1, kfb; repeat from * or *k1, M1; repeat from *. 15 sts are increased.
My video does not show the Yarn Over method for short rows. You could easily substitute the "usual" short row heel. Check out my 2 part video to learn how.
@Gmd199 I have over 60 videos available on my website and TH-cam. Check out my website for the Knit Along sponsored by Skacel, distributor of addi needles.

Extremely helpful! Thanks a lot!!!
What brand/size of circulars are you using? They're beautiful! 💜
Soo helpful! Thanks!!
hi ,I'm having trouble understanding this:s1,p11,p2tog,turn. what do you do with the stitches left on needle? I'm trying to knit some slippers. Tgabjs
Sounds like a short row pattern. Just leave the remaining stitch unworked.
nc row (RS) :(K1,Inc 1) to end (15 sets ) how do you knitt this?
Since the pattern does not specify a type of decrease, you can use a kfb or M1. Work the row as *k1, kfb; repeat from * or *k1, M1; repeat from *. 15 sts are increased.
Do you happen to have any videos for lefties? :)
@tonksloopy Not at this time. Sorry!
Thank you so much!
Interesting, thanks.
