    Excellent all round review mate! A good honest point of view from someone who BOUGHT, owns and operates this bike. I also appreciated your real world comparison between the KTM platform 350. I do consider buying the TM EN 300 as my next dirt bike. Your English is perfect too. Thanks 👍🏻

    The bigest plus on the Gasgas and husky for me was when riding in the sand how easy it was to maneuver between ruts even in corners it was more like: Hey, I don’t like this one let’s move over to that one. And the bike just let me do it.
    Taking these points together both bikes ride rather differently and wanted to be ridden different. On all my former bikes except the 2018 Husqy 350 weirdly enough I was terrible at riding the inside line in a corners. I always opted for the long way around. The TM helped me out a lot and somehow when I take the Gasgas out for a spin right now I’m way more confident to ride the inside line in a corners. That being said the TM is my preferred choice for the more MX type off riding.
    The rider triangle of both bikes are about the same. But the TM has more ground clearance which also means the bar, seat and pegs are a bit higher up. The TM feels a bit shorter and more nimble even though the measurements are about the same. The Brembo brake and clutch on the TM work better that the Braktec stuff on the Gasgas. The TM has a 9mm brake and clutch purse which are very light to use which results in less fatigue and less arm pump. The frame being stiffer does fatigue you a bit more.
    Suspension wise both these bikes a rather the same in this case. I’m running the KYB cartridges in the WP forks of the Gasgas. The stock WP shock has been resprung and valved to work with the KYB cartridges. The TM comes stock with the KYB SSS forks and a TM shock which is very close to a öhlins shock. With some KYB influences according to my suspension tuner who also revalved my TM’s suspension. The stock suspension setting on the TM is way better that what the Gasgas comes stock with. I was comfortable enough to run the stock TM suspension in our national enduro series. Which I would have never done on the stock WP Xplor stuff.
    Having both bikes resprung and revalved by the same guy for my weight and skill level which isn’t that good I must say. I can run the TM a bit softer setting wise to counter act the stiffer frame. Which gives back a part of the loss in comfort. Also the stock triple clamps off the TM are way better that the Gasgas clamps. I Run the x trigs on the Gasgas because the stock cast clamps kept getting tweaked at every little tip over. TM gives you the option between a solid upper clamp with bar mounts and a clamp with rubber bushes to dampen the vibrations like the Japanese bikes. I took the second one which gives you the opportunity to turn the bar mounts around so you have 2 different bar positions. The downfall is the bar gets tweaked from time to time after a crash. I do find it easier to ride with a tweaked bar that tweaked clamps because in that case the suspension isn’t working properly.
    For the do it yourself people out there maintenance is not unimportant I like to do all the work on my bikes myself except the suspension. Being a mechanical engineer by trade I’m always a curious how something I put together. I do like the fact TM makes 90% off the part in house. But how is it working on the bike itself.
    Both bikes are really easy to work on. The bolts and nuts are easy to reach disconnecting the electric is easy. On the chassis you’ll need to counter hold some of the nuts on the TM. The engines are well put together and easy to take apart. Unfortunately enough a suffered what could be a catastrophic engine failure on both bikes. The Gasgas lost all of its compression at 90H and I had to rebuild the whole engine. I must say I was racing in very very dusty conditions and somehow it sucked the dust right through the filter. Not around the sides but right through the middle.
    On the TM it’s a different case after 30 hours off riding I felt the bike started to dive after releasing the throttle and it seemed to lose power. So I rode back to the van and discovered everything was covered in oil from the engine ventilation tube back. Next day I took the engine apart. But the piston was almost split in half. Luckily the cylinder is still good, but I do have to replaced the piston. I find this a little weird because all off the maintenance so far has been done on time. I’m currently talking with the dealer how this could happen and how in how far TM or them are willing to help out as in warranties. I don’t expect to much but if they do it would be very nice. I do think that the piston wasn’t forged properly or something like that. I don’t think the bike is to blame. I honestly feel like it’s a failure that could have happened to any bike I’ve had something similar to a beta rr 350 once. And I know people that have had the same on their ktm’s but still it’s very unfortunate.
    The electrics seems decent so far and I haven’t had any other issues. The normal stuff like chancing oil is very easy and every body can do it. The air filter on the TM is a little bit finnicky I do not recommend trying to do this mid race. Put a extra cover on it which you can take off when needed. It’s very easy to get some dirt in the suction tube. Because off the placement off the filter right above the throttle body, like a Yamaha where the gas cap would normally be.
    So the conclusion so far even though “KTM” might be “ready to race” a TM is more ready to race in stock form I like the TM better. Power wise The gasgas might have a bit of a edge over the TM on top but the TM has more grunt down low. Where the gasgas start to bark and later on drives you forward. The TM will be more direct and starts taking of immediately with all the ease in the world. (I have to be honest the gasgas is running a GET ECU and a full HGS exhaust system and has been remapped on the dyno)
    The gasgas is overall a bit more comfortable and will suit any rider at anytime. The TM however is a bit more off a race bike. It wants to be pushed and when you do it’s very easy to ride. If you want to cruise around you will feel the stiffness. I really do like the way the tm looks and the parts that are used. The stock exhaust is made by HGS and the twin mufflers are a nice touch the sound is also really nice in person even though on camera it sounds a bit slow somehow. The Brembo front brake and nisin rear brake are working great I personally like the suspension a lot more that the WP xplor.
    The Gasgas is a bit more fuel efficient but both bike’s will do 100km on a tank of fuel in normal riding conditions racing is a different story. But in the French hills doing single and dubble tracks both bikes are fine.

      Thanks mate, i've seen some of your videos when i was still gathering some info before buying this bike. I'm starting to have a love and hate relationship aswell with the tm. From time to time its excellent (mostly in the fast stuff back home in the Netherlands) and some times a feel like why is this trail (when im in France) so damn hard or harsh on this bike. And after working on some ktm's lately i must say the wrench a lot easier 😅

      @11hug011 yeah, I ride a lot of slower technical trails here in the mountains and the stock suspension was brutal. My shoulders took a beating. Had the suspension revolved and sprung for my weight, and now it's awesome. My biggest gripe is that TM doesn't seem to care much about the US market. My main bearing failed at 50 hrs and they didn't warranty it. That was a big let down.

    • @HTAracing558
      @HTAracing558  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dtr_downtoride that's quite a let down. I had a broken piston at 30h and i got everything under warranty. Gaskets piston pin the rings. But because i took it apart myself in had to put it back myself aswell. I don't know if the factory did the warranty or my dealership took it upon them.

      @11hug011 my main wire harness failed at 17 hours, it was covered under warranty. Maybe they have a 1 warranty claim only policy 😆

    Die zuiger van de TM lijkt mij meer een fabrieksfout, of is daar al een reactie op? Ik zelf zou niet zo snel meer een 4takt kiezen maar de video was duidelijk en leerzaam!

    • @HTAracing558
      @HTAracing558  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ik ga ook uit van een fabrieksfout heb hem nog is goed onderzocht er zit een platte kant aan precies waar de scheur begon. Hij is denk ik na het draaien een x gevallen voordat ie de cilinder in ging. De dealer gaat het netjes regelen met de fabriek als het goed is. Zet hem volgende week weer in elkaar en dan gaan we weer gas geven.

      Update: piston probably fell somewhere between getting machined and put in the engine. There is a flat spot where the crack started (like it got hit with something the lines produced by the machining process circular are still there but dented) piston is produced by vertex so no blame on tm. Got all parts needed for the rebuilt for free. Bike is running great again!

    You should get a Sherco 300 and do a comparison with the TM.

    • @HTAracing558
      @HTAracing558  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well i can already tell that i dont like the sherco that much. I've ridin it before. power down low is good. But it doesn't have enough power on top for my liking. The TM is quite a bit faster. The rider triangle is very cramped i don't know how they fit Cody webb on it. (2 stroke in that case). I dont really like working on the sherco either you have to counter holt all the bolts same as on the tm or beta. The quality of the sherco is good to i rode my ser 250 2 stroke (2019 model) for 200h without any issues besides normal maintenance. I just don't like the chassis to much. Handles great but it fatiques me more because of it being cramped.

    Heb je later nog problemen gehad met het onderhoud? Ben wel benieuwd of daar nog een verschil in zit ten opzichte van een ander merk 350cc. Daarnaast nog wel naar je tweede zuiger, gemakkelijk meerdere uren op de tweede zuiger gereden? Mooi dat je ook een TM probeert, daar vind je weinig informatie over.

      Staat nu op zo'n 54 uur verders geen problemen meer gehad naast routine onderhoud. Blok voelt nogsteeds erg gretig en pittig loopt goed en gebruikt geen olie. Uren schieten alleen niet erg op aangezien ik me sleutelbeen gebroken tijdens de enduro sprint in Westerbork.
      Heb me mening ten opzichte van het ktm 350 platform wel iets aangepast. Vindt de 350 in het buitenland met meer extreme achtige enduro veel makkelijker rijden. Maar de tm maakt korte metten met de 350 op de crossbaan. Dus het is meer waar je interesse ligt.

      Waardoor vind je de 350 gemakkelijker op zwaar enduro terrein dan de 300 TM? Heeft dat met vermogen te maken?

      @@nickpoland8432 dankje, de 350 smoort iets makkelijker tegen een obstakel meer als een 2t. En de tm is zo explosief die wilt meteen naar de maan... doordat de 350 meer flex heeft is het minder vermoeiend over wortels losse taken en stenen. De tm is erg stijf en daarom minder comfortabel. Ik vroeg me af of je tijdens de lange enduro ritten genoeg benzine mee hebt met de TM. Soms zie je weleens op andere merken dat ze er (grotere) tanks op zetten. Weet niet of dat kan/nodig is bij de 300
