What I love about Komatsu is that the cabs are nearly identical regardless of the machine's size. If you run a small one, you can get into a big one and be productive and comfortable in short order.
Just pure pleasure watching this operator..he's a good un for certain. Love the machine too, just looks a lovely nimble dozer with plenty of power. Mesmerized!!
@Gratz1333 Packing another lift, we usually backfill in a couple places at once. While he's cutting in the first lift here, the packer can be on another part of the jobsite packing. They can just alternate areas to keep productivity up and everyone busy.
@specialks1953 He is padding himself in. Going back and forth a few times helps solidify the ground underneath you. In wet ground you might not have so much luck backing out. The first lift does usually not end up being the productive one, but it sets you up for the following lifts. A properly cut in first lift gives you a great base to work on.
vantagetes so like. First lift is to cover the pipe(hand work and hoes) 2nd lift is to Secure the pipes safety (hand work and hoes)then your productive lift are put in with a Blade? Ever Foot you either roll it or like you said solidify the ground?
I can't help but read the comments on all these types of videos. It reminds me why I don't bother posting any vids on here, lot of you haters either have no idea what he's doing or are the worlds greatest at everything and have most likely only seen one on a low loader as you pass it on the freeway. @vantagetes keep the videos coming, winter is here and I don't have a workshop anymore, guess it'll be a toss up between youtube & Netflix lol
You are so right. There are so many know it all smart arrogant ignorant dumasses out there. I get so tired of reading their bs trying to always down somebody when in reality 90 percent of them, on the jobsite could bring me the piece of equipment so I can put it to work. That's bout all moat can do id that
eems to have increased a lot. Don't know if that's software on the PC or on the camera but it makes it only slightly fuzzy when watching in full screen mode where it was almost unwatchable. Oh and that was not only your videos, actually your were the exception where I could watch some in full screen. No the videos across the board are viewable and apparently higher res'. take care. mrbluenun
Not a bad job however I like to go a bit heavier in this case so you're a bit higher up on the V shape for the first lift in the trench so you won't be cutting out the sidewall. Cutting out sidewalls has got to be one of the greatest causes of settlement because the packer can't pack horizontally unless you have it sloped at least a bit and that's where the V in the trench is helpful. Buddy there was cutting into the bank a little for extra dirt instead of pushing more in from up top.
What’s the current opinion Komatsu dozers vs cat and Deere? I have always had cat and some Deere. Had a Komatsu back in the 80s...had lots of issues such as soft uc metal, final drive, leaks and parts availability issues. But that was then. What about now? I may be looking at getting a small crawler in the d5g or d5k size range. I’d almost consider a d39 or 650 Deere. I’m in North Georgia. I’m not happy with deer dealer and parts although I like operating a 650. I am not buying new. I am an owner operator and it’s more than performance. It’s about being able to work on it, cheap parts, aftermarket choices, mechanic familiarity, parts availability, good dealer, toughness, and long term value. I can even stomach steering clutches if necessary. A good condition d4h? A front radiator model d39? Or just a d5g and go with it? Thanks!
We had a D65e Komatsu grapple when i worked logging. Only thing the boss didn't like was it was too fast in high gear. In fact he bolted it off so UT wouldn't go into high gear, to keep operators from running it and destroying it on rocks and everything. But if you tried you could get it into high gear. Course we would just put them in neutral when skidding logs downhill on those long runs. Ever out a dozer in neutral and fly downhill with thousands of pounds of trees shoving you downhill, especially on snow in the winter. Tell you what, it's crazier than any rollercoaster ride you ever had. Wanna see some crazy dozer operating go find dozer operators working steep ground logging in the mountains
Sweet driving, just enough revs on the engine to do the work and not waste fuel. Not related to the video but, does anyone know what happened to Justin (Minningpower)? all his videos have gone from his channel
Holy Jesus Christ, can he fuck around anymore? I agree what he's trying to accomplish is correct but damn. Somebody must have told him to make it last all day because thats all we got.
The company was called Acco, an Italian manufacturer. I don't know if it really qualifies as "retired" . You can't retire if you never worked to begin with. In size it was the biggest yet it never moved any dirt. Built for a large project in Lybia ,trade embargoes kept it from being delivered and doing any work at all. Not only did it never work, but the total production number is "1". The Acco Super Dozer was made with mostly Caterpillar parts. The dozer is in storage at the parent company Umberto Acco's property somewhere in northern Italy.
Looks like he starts off well but then spends too much time mucking about in the bottom of the ditch instead of pushing in the rest! Or have I missed something, you experts?
if im correct, and i will be corrected if i'm wrong, you don't want to crush the pipe by putting a heavy lift in. start with a small lift and work bigger.
ROAMinstuie420 The heavier the lift, the more it protects the pipe from a rock punching through to the pipe. First lift is recommended to go two feet then 1.5 feet thereafter.
What I love about Komatsu is that the cabs are nearly identical regardless of the machine's size. If you run a small one, you can get into a big one and be productive and comfortable in short order.
It is like that with different makes and other machines. It is cheaper and less parts this way.
The D85 is a solid dozer, hats off to a solid operator.
Just pure pleasure watching this operator..he's a good un for certain. Love the machine too, just looks a lovely nimble dozer with plenty of power. Mesmerized!!
This is in a ditch cut to install pipe, now they are pushing dirt back in and compacting it to backfill the trench.
@hammerdwn20 Normally there is a track loader involved too, however the track loader was broken and the operator is holding the camera...
anybody that knows anything about dozers can see this guy is good
Shiniest blade I have seen in a long time.
@farlinj Honestly, this guy is one of the best cat skinners I know for water and sewer.
5 meters is about 15 foot right. If your bench is 15 foot, how deep was your cut?
@Gratz1333 Packing another lift, we usually backfill in a couple places at once. While he's cutting in the first lift here, the packer can be on another part of the jobsite packing. They can just alternate areas to keep productivity up and everyone busy.
It's either you got it or you don't....This operator has it.
@mwcomplete You also never see a Cat sports car. He meant out of the current product line.
@specialks1953 He is padding himself in. Going back and forth a few times helps solidify the ground underneath you. In wet ground you might not have so much luck backing out. Plus they get paid by the hour. He's padding his pocket, you could say.
Its the first lift he is setting himself up to be productive for the entire backfill!
damn seems like u guys really took a liking to komatsu
Semi Universal Blade on a Komatsu, Awesome
Nice video, thank you my friend
@fox13z400 Not us, just the company Alex works for.
Hasbro nic park one tran Armani cash
@533nick They are putting in 15" plastic sanitary sewer.
@constructionfan Thanks for the reply and info..... Subscribed to his new channel.

Yeah, I guess a lot of people don't know about backfilling in lifts for proper compaction.
You are so right. There are so many know it all smart arrogant ignorant dumasses out there. I've been road building since 1976 don't see anything to special going on.
good operator.
@farlinj I am working on it, been kinda swamped on backfill and haven't had much time to get up to where the hoe's are working.
Them Komatsu Dozers are Wick

@vantagetes oo gotcha. i thought it was odd not to see a cat some where in this video.
Burnout can't you get some videos of the pipe work in action???? I'd love to watch how a big outfit lays pipe
Go rent a porno.

Now there's a driver!!
looks like you need to yell at the guy filling the machine with fuel.. unless you just have a bad leak
wow, a lot of excavators on the job. What exactly is the project?
Ooooh Nice machinepark ;)
Never has so much track gear been worn out for so little dirt
Shouldve push more down before spending the time to go around
Btw great dozer hand

Cat all the way for dozers but dealership support is key.

the first lift is importent for compaction he is leaving enough material to finish filling trench
@533nick Uhh try again, name one machine Caterpillar does not make themselves.
Does that go for the shit built in China ?
Sweet driving, just enough revs on the engine to do the work and not waste fuel.
Not related to the video but, does anyone know what happened to Justin (Minningpower)? all his videos have gone from his channel
@533nick What's that got to do with the price of bread?
Fast Dozer !!
i want to do this kind of shit instead of logging im getting sick of looking at trees all day
copperheadmarine?
so what is that you are filling
i dont understeand the point of cutting into the hill there?
the first cut provides the driver with an escape route if he gets stuck and cant back out of the trench
hey had all the dirt he needed he backed up and moved over then went right back where he started from?
Good
@533nick Sorry, name one "real" machine Caterpillar doesn't make themselves.
wheres the packer?
What an absolutely colossal waste of time, fuel, and energy. He would be sent home in 5 mins if he attacked a lift like this on any professional job.
@constructionfan What this guy said.
Super
I've never been a korematsu dozer before, not a big fan of they're excavators.
Holy Jesus Christ, can he fuck around anymore? I agree what he's trying to accomplish is correct but damn. Somebody must have told him to make it last all day because thats all we got.
+MrBiggreedy
Two things here, He must be paid by the hour, and he likes playing with the dirt in one smooth Dozer.
MrBiggreedy agreed ...run,n rnd with halfa blade full n generaly just pisn me off
that machine is capable of so much more, in the hands of an expert anyway.
Chow👍👍
good vid fellers but my question is you all use alota Komatsu equipment is it just because of the cost? diff between CAT Or wut?
Komatsu will outwork cat all day any day
don't feed the troll.
That's a good dozer driver! We have a komatsu D6 and it's useless
CAT makes the D6...
you must be new haha
ROOKIE
@dirt king Says the guy who is sittig at home not working.
Truth with modification
Says the the guy behind a camera, not operating.
i lika do the chacha!
want to move earth dig out the 575 the bigest in the world there was one bigger the ecco but thats retired now

Seems like that is high plastic clay. He is breaking it up by going back and forth. They will be able to get more uniform compaction .
ROAMinstuie420 The heavier the lift, the more it protects the pipe from a rock punching through to the pipe. First lift is recommended to go two feet then 1.5 feet thereafter.
breaking up lumps with track packing

TRUMP 2020 !!! thumbs up !!
I recon I would have done more productivity with a Suzuki DR400 in half the time.
this made me thoroughly lol
*me not making a stupid ass first comment.
nice tractor but only getting about 30% used on this job. Maybe it is the only one available.
Not a productive dozer operator at all
He ain't no tractor driver to much faffing about
May as well be working with sawdust. Little tougher in 2 foot minus.
Will need a new undercarriage in a week you guys keep letting this guy run dozer 🤦♂️
Quick on its feet that Dozer!!, quicker than CAT!! me thinks
Until it breaks and you need parts for it. Komatsu parts support is hit and miss
@vantagetes Rock drillers. You never see a cat rock driller.
They were built by Finning a licensed Caterpillar dealer. With Cat power.
Nope; I wouldn't spend 30 minutes gaining the first 100 feet of lift.
