"Megitsune" is a total classic and one of their most loved songs (also one of my top favorites of all time).
The girls commented about the choreo that it was way harder than what they did on previous songs. They also suggested to incorporate some movements like the "electric fan" or windmill headbanging that they saw on the "Headbanger" music video :)
And yes, Nemophila did an excellent job. It's a difficult song to sing, with a wide range. Even Su initially struggled with the lower notes. But she ended up dominating the song to the point she uses it to check her voice before live performances.

In my mind this is classic BABYMETAL.
No one writes Electronicore-Festival-Kawaii-Enka Metal songs like that anymore. : )
The hype for this one is unreal at their live shows.
It incorporates a lot of festival shouts, like "Sore, sore, sore, sore!" ("Go! Go! Go! Go!")
It's no surprise that it often tops fan polls for favorite BABYMETAL song.
They've performed this one more often than any other song.
One of Su's favorites, even if it is difficult to sing this one live.
The lyrics are really interesting, and the music video for this song is a masterpiece.
Still my favorite BABYMETAL song, video and choreography.
As you noticed, this one slays live, and always hypes up the audience.
Su-metal likes to think of this song as expressing the Japanese character of facing adversity with resilience.
A person might feel sad or overwhelmed, but they put on a brave face and carry on.
She has talked about how adult women are so cool as they never show suffering, by acting quite as usual even in a hard time, and she hopes to be like that as well.
Great reaction. The Nemophila cover is very good, but this is possibly BABYMETAL's signature tune and nobody can bring the same energy or sing it like Su-metal - she even uses it for sound checks and to warm up her voice before shows.
'Megitsune' regularly tops fan polls for favourite song - they have played it live more than any of their songs.
It reflects a lot of the Japanese culture starting with the traditional instruments in the intro and the lyrics about women being compared to foxes (kitsune - which also explains why Su had the fox mask during the breakdown) which in Japanese mythology are able to shape shift and take human form in order to deceive. It is also a bit of a push back against the traditional female role in Japanese society I think - or maybe it is - whilst also praising and celebrating the women who have played that role over the years for their strength.
They are saying that women wearing their make up and hiding their true feelings ("crying at heart, smiling at face") are not trying to deceive anybody, they are simply trying to please everybody - so they are not kitsune (foxes), they are megitsune (female foxes or vixens) - and they are strong.
The breakdown with the pig squeals uses the exact melody of an old and very well known Japanese folk song called 'Sakura Sakura' (Cherry Blossoms).
When Su spoke a few words and did a high kick she said "Otome wa ... nametara ikan zeyo." (Maidens ... shouldn't be underestimated). The last part of this is a famous quote from a Japanese gangster movie said by the daughter of a gang boss.

Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。This is a compilation from 6 shows in 2017 through 2021 and audio is from at Makuhari in Jan. 2020 and one of the 10 BABYMETAL Budokan concerts in 2021. I witnessed Megitsune performance in 2020 and 2021 and every time I got excited ヽ(^o^)丿
In an interview Su-Metal said (1) This song is mixture of various elements ; very fast but smooth, hard but beautiful etc. (2) The tune and choreo have Japonesque flavor which may attract overseas fans. (3) This is her tuning song because it includes necessary factors for singing in a well-balanced manner. So she always sings Megitsune in rehearsal to confirm her vocal condition. Su actually said "in a sense, it is a song of criterion for me". (source : Tokion Vol.7 2020-12-24)

You pick a decent live compilation, fortunately, not all of them are good enough to reflect BabyMetal greatness, not even mentioning covers, which is flattering nonetheless.
This Megitsune with the Extended Intro version is usually played at live performance, like
this one which contains footage from "Legend S - The Sun Always Rise" (that's why SuMetal said _"Makuhari"_ in reference to Makuhari Messe the place they were performing; and "Legend M: Beyond The Moon" 2019 (MoaMetal's 20th birthday) this one got another midley with SuMetal wishing happy birthday to MoaMetal, you can watch this version at Babymetal Reactor Resource channel, watch Future Plans and follow instructions to get those clips.
Megitsune is a female empowerment song with many Japanese elements, and is one of the most challenging song for SuMetal in terms of vocals.
You got also the official MV with the girls looking super young and kawaii. The SuMetal kick you saw here when she said "Maidens, shouldn't be underestimated" is different in the MV.
