  • The bike is 99% done now. I am going to order a new crimping tool and go over all of the wires again to make sure they're done properly. I need to find a few more bits but It's just so close now.

    Im a postie from australia. So I spend everyday riding a bike very similar to the one your restoring. We used to ride a honda ct110. A few years ago they upgraded us to a honda super cub. Fuel injection and a few other fancy bits a pieces. Good on ya elliot. I hope this bike brings u heaps of happiness

    The cost of those oem parts you should invest in some locktite/permabond use blue for parts that require servicing and red on parts that aren't going to ever be removed. The bike is looking beautiful.

    Old style flasher relays depend on the resistance of the globe to work properly. If you can't get the original globes, compare the resistance of the old and the new, and put a resistor either in series or in parallel with the globe, to increase or decrease resistance as appropriate.
    Otherwise, newer LED flasher relays are a bit more advanced, and have a little timer circuit inside them. They'll probably handle the current draw of the incandescent globes, but they won't come in the same package. If you went that route, you might have to gut one of the broken relays, and use its housing for the contents of an LED flasher relay.

    Elliot, I had the those exact leg shields for my build and they are shockingly bad, unusable in my opinion. I can see just by looking at your bike you are going to have the same problems I had with them. Honda ones are not available so I have started to refurbish the originals. Like you I have sought out many NOS parts and it does make a difference. Well done in getting her to this stage, look forward to seeing the progress

    Those are almost certainly not Philips screws but rather JIS (Japan Industry Standard).
    Using a Philips Screwdriver tends to mangle them, where as using a JIS screwdriver will feel massively better.
    Anyone working on old Japanese bikes will be familiar with the mangled mess that Philips screwdrivers leave JIS screws!

Great job Elliot ! I have never seen someone so passionate about an indicator relay or a brake light wire in my life, great to see ! Hi Elliot, your issue with the indicators reminded me of an issue I encountered with my mate's Yamaha Beluga CV80. The bike runs a 6V system instead of a 12V system and would do the exact same thing yours did when a new 12V bulb was installed with the light just staying on solidly. He'd bought 12v bulbs to replace the old 6V ones in preventative maintenance but we had to put the old ones back in to get it blinking. Check the printed text on the glass of the old and new bulbs and check they are the exact same. Hopefully it's a simple fix like that.

    36:05 The reason why these Batteries need a breathing tube is because there is a chemical reaction happening on the inside causing a gas to form which needs to get out. This gas is also really bad to breath in

    • @Sun-ut9gr
      @Sun-ut9gr 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The gas is hydrogen, and it's vented to prevent it from building up and causing a fire. And yeah it's not good to breathe in lol

    If you are having issues with the crimping tool try the basics. Get a klein crimper that will look like a plier. It's simple yet effective. And I've used mine for years. It does take some time to build up the skill but it's the best stripper, cutter, and crimper that you will ever need for wiring. Hope this helps for any future endeavours.

    • @NoobixCube
      @NoobixCube 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I couldn't tell if the crimp kept turning in the jaws because it was a cheap crimping tool or if Elliot was doing something wrong. I'm not the handiest person alive, but I've usually had better results than that with a ratcheting crimping tool. Took a few goes to not just squash it, but once I had the knack they came out fine.

    Two more Seiko's in the collection, I finally put together my Bell & Ross "homage" to the radio compass with the crazy full dial width hands, built upon a NH34 but I didn't put the GMT hand on, in a solid high grade stainless steel square case, sapphire on top and hardlex on the back... man it looks astonishing and such a nice wear too and the case is rated 200m water resistance too. Also in a job lot that came with my Seiko Orbit I got a tidy 7S26-0060 from 2000, needed just a hair regulating and is now keeping perfect time. The modded Seiko 4R35 tuna is still going well, loving the fishbone hands and today going to lume paint the trident second hand on the prongs and the ornate arrow pointer. Just waiting now for a heavy engineers bracelet for the radio compass and I chucked a 4R35 rotor on the movement although I could have chucked on a 6R rotor but thought I was pushing me luck hehehehehe

You do it so well, and to see you LITERALLY only buying OEM parts is so amazing, honestly just watching you use those couple 'wrong' bolts was messing with me, But i know you will find them at some point and put them on. you are taking 0 easy way outs.
