Captain Raja Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed (Complete) - Nishan-e-Haider - Pakistan Army

In 1947, he volunteered to take part in the battalion organised by the Pakistani Army with the purpose of retaking the Kashmir. His regiment managed to outflank the disorganised Indian troops and forced them to retreat out of the regions which are now known as the Northern Areas in one of the battles of the First Kashmir War. During the Kashmir Operations, as Company Commander[citation needed] of the 2nd Battalion of the Punjab Regiment, Captain Sarwar launched an attack causing heavy casualties against a strongly fortified enemy position located in the Uri Sector. His battalion was subject to under heavy machine gun, grenade, and mortar fire. On 27 July 1948, as he moved forward with six of his men to cut their way through a barbed wire barrier, he died when he was shot in the chest with heavy machine gun fire.
In recognition for his valor, Sarwar was posthumously awarded the Nishan-E-Haider, Pakistan's highest military decoration.

Your officer was indeed brave. He deserved Nishan-e-Haidar. It's a matter of pride that he passed out from Indian Military Academy. They rightly say that IMA me Loha Taiyar hota hai.
The war of 1948 was different from any other wars between India and Pakistan. In this war the participating soldiers and officers were the ones who trained together, ate together and lived together. And after that bloody partition they fought together as well. Politicians slept in their comfortable homes but these soldiers slept forever in the battlefield.

I am Indian and I am proud to say historically my family served Indian Army right from grand father , father and my uncle. My father was major in 243-artilary regiment and died in Kashmir when I was 9. I ranked air-57 in NDA but was medically rejected....that broke my heart :(.
Regardless, sometimes I watch my unfulfilled dream of PoPs on youtube...I find POP from IMA and PMA so eeringly similar....almost same SSB(ISSB)....needless to say the army officers from both India and pakistan have same mental fortitude...except that Pakistani Army is more politically entrenched and Indian army has never been associated to any political ambitions ...it is just an institution tasked to serve the nation and defend it against any aggression.
