Wow this was well done I'll have to watch a few times. It's mainly because of the layers in maya I haven't used it much. I'll practice with my Lisa ianimate rig from 2017. I'm not sure if ianimate updated it but anyway thanks again. I'll have to practice using layers in maya. I've used motionbuilder for years and love the layers in it. It's probably a bit similar my guess idk. A future video maybe maya time editor w a mocap clip or a random Handkey clip. I'm guessing Time editor is a combination of Trax editor but better? When you use it or add it to your workflow.
Need help: If you have an idle animation cycling in the "base animation" layer. Can I add an attack animation on a new "additive layer" and have it go back to idle animation after the attack is done or is this not a common workflow to have the idle animation included in all the animation scene files?
Wow glad I subscribe to you quite a while ago. Didn't quite understand on using animation layers until now. Before you start polishing the animation, did you merge all the layers or just add a new layer on top? Also, what's your pc spec? My Maya having a hard time loading when trying to add the whole rig control into one layer.
It kind of depends on the situation and when I merge layers. I always merge all my layers when I'm done with the shot, especially if another animator ever needs to open it up, having a clean scene is always helpful. Especially since I rarely name my layers, it can be a big headache for anyone else opening it up. I would say when I'm more in the polishing stages of an animation, that's when I don't do much merging, I can end up with dozens and dozens of layers as I work. Big changes that I make to a shot I'll usually merge those once I'm happy with it, and know I won't ever need to go back to the original animation. What version of Maya are you using? I know some versions are a little sluggish when working with animation layers. My PC specs are 48gb of ram, i7 6700K, and a GTX 1070
@@MarkMastersAnim Wow thanks for to info! I'm using 2019 mostly using Ryzen 7 3700x and GTX 1080. I guess the problem is probably either the maya version or the project rig is not very optimized.
Hey Mark, this is a nice explanation. You may want to add on how you collapse those anim layers in a existing file or a new file.
great one Mark!!!! keep up
Thanks a lot for the video!
awesome
thanks for information

This is the iAnimate Lisa Rig. To gain access to it you'll need to enroll in an iAnimate workshop.
