What city and state is your practice out of and have you had any luck with medicare and or medicade covering the neurofeedback sessions you provide. If so what codes do you submit to these innsurance companies? Thanks
Hi Joanne, thanks for your question. Yes, you can meditate while hooked up to NeurOptimal. I recommend doing a mindfulness of sound meditation where you focus your attention gently on the sound of the music and when your mind drifts off into thought to label it "thinking" then return to resting your attention on the sound. Or you can do a mindfulness of breath practicer and the music just becomes something that is there in your awareness but not a focus. If you'd like to learn more, please join the webinar I'm hosting on NeurOptimal and Peak Meditation Experience with the creator of NeurOptimal, Dr. Val Brown. These systems and or courses of sessions are still prohibitively expensive. Brainwave entrainment systems that do not require a subscription are affordable options.
You make a valid point! I understand your concerns about the cost of neurofeedback systems like the one offered by Neurofeedback Training Co., especially when compared to more affordable brainwave entrainment devices. It's important to clarify that brainwave entrainment devices and the NeurOptimal neurofeedback system serve different purposes and are built on distinct technologies. Brainwave entrainment devices are designed to induce immediate changes in your state by encouraging your brain to synchronize its wave patterns to the frequencies provided by the device-think of it as temporarily tuning a radio to a specific station. These devices are indeed more affordable and can be effective for short-term state changes, making them a great support if that’s your goal. On the other hand, the NeurOptimal neurofeedback system operates more like a highly sophisticated educational tool for your brain. It doesn’t simply induce a state change; rather, it provides your brain with information about its own activity, allowing it to self-adjust and optimize its functioning over time. This process is akin to teaching someone how to ride a bike as opposed to just giving them a push scooter. While riding a bike requires more skill and practice (and potentially more investment in a quality bike), the long-term benefits-increased balance, flexibility, and endurance-surpass what you can achieve with a scooter, which is simpler to use but offers limited capabilities. While the initial cost of a system like NeurOptimal may seem high, it's a reflection of its advanced technology and the long-term benefits it offers. It's an investment in comprehensive, enduring brain health and performance enhancement, rather than just a temporary aid. We appreciate that the cost can be a barrier, and we strive to make our systems as accessible as possible, including offering payment plans and session packages.
@@atelier27 Thank you for your insightful follow-up! It's great to hear that you have experience with different neurofeedback technologies like the LENS system, which indeed varies from other forms of neurofeedback in its approach and effects. You make a valid point about the potential benefits of entrainment systems acting as "training wheels," helping users become accustomed to certain brain states, which could potentially facilitate easier access to these states over time. This can certainly be beneficial and serve as a stepping stone towards more sophisticated cognitive training tools. Regarding accessibility, you're absolutely right, and it's an important issue we continuously strive to address. We understand that the higher cost of advanced neurofeedback systems can be a significant barrier. This is why we are committed to exploring various options to increase accessibility, such as offering rental options, financing plans, and working with insurance providers where possible. Our goal is to make these powerful tools as accessible as possible to those who could benefit from them. We also support and appreciate the community of users who explore various methods to improve brain function, including more affordable options. It's all about finding what works best for you at your current point in life and what aligns with your needs and financial situation. Thank you again for engaging in this conversation and for your thoughtful perspective!
Thank you! This was very informative. I am excited about learning more about neurofeedback.
