Glad to see you back and full of enthusiasm! Your tutorials are always a treat to watch and a source of useful information. I'm looking forward to the next one. BTW I vote for stone work on the driveway.
Fantastic step by step! I've been building for years and you do things like an engineer! Very precise and I love it! Very informative!! I bought a proxon two years ago because of you! Now I know how to do more things with it! 😆thank you thank you!
Great series! Very encouraging! Your videos are a wonderful, informative, boost to the hobby. We look forward to your next video as soon as we watch your latest.
Carl this was fantastic! I’m so excited to watch this series. I love the detail and I can admit I’ve learned some new ideas. Thank you for starting this early! I think I may start working on my Halloween village along with your series. Love your work!
I learned so much from this. I did the bare minimum last year, I just wasn’t in to putting up my village. Seeing the basics and learning new and better ways of making the platforms has invigorated me. Thank you!
Love it, of course, I do really enjoy watching you create, who knows I might try it out yet. I can see a mimi pumpkin garden out back by garage nothing big just a few.
As others have commented, this is awesome instruction. My vote is to see you do stonework. I am going to be watching whatever you decide to do. Thank you.
Love this tutorial Carl. Very informative. Would love to see like a mailbox covered in ivy along in front next to the stairs. Great work. Looking forward to the rest of the series on this piece.
Thank you for this tutorial! I’ve watched all your previous videos but learned so much from this new one-mainly lowering the heat on the Proxon which gives more control on the cuts!
Great video Appreciate the work you put into this demo. Now, I may have to put away Christmas villages to start to think about my Halloween displays 😊 Stay inspired.
What awonderful tutorial! I am already using my proxxon. I love it, even though I am still getting the hang of it! I look forward to your next video. I have started using clay for some of my walkways. It's more work, but I like it. I want to try your grout method too.
Hey Carl! I'm looking forward to seeing this progress! I have a question Could you incorporate viniettes for small areas into your videos. Also for narrow spots. The more videos I watch the more ideas I get!! I just don't have room for more than one layout. I love love love your videos!!❤
This video was fantastic, and sooooooo helpful. I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate your time showing us all of this. I did try to answer you 3 times on your last video, but for some reason, it would not post my comment for some reason. Thank you again for such a helpful video. P.S. That Proxxon is a game changer for sure.
Love this! You are an inspiration. I am a huge Home Alone fan but I can't find a ceramic Home Alone house. Do you know if that exists? I've only seen Lego kits which I'm not loving.
I also wish someone would make a realistic replica. Last year, I wrote an email to Department 56 to ask them if they would consider producing a Home Alone subseries for Christmas in the City (CIC). It would be a natural fit for CIC because Home Alone takes place in Chicago and Home Alone 2 takes place in New York City. It would likely be a great seller as Home Alone and Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York are among the highest-grossing Christmas movies of all time. They wrote back saying they have no plans to do that currently. I was disappointed because I'm a big fan of the movies and Department 56 Villages. Maybe its a licensing issue, but they've produced subseries for other movies/franchises like Game of Thrones, Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, Harry Potter, The Grinch, Peanuts, and Rudolph. I hope they change their mind because they are missing an opportunity to breathe new life into CIC, appeal to a new generation of collectors, and make a nice profit.
The green project foam at Lowes is up to $9.00 each in upstate NY. Two years ago, when I last bought it, it was $6.00 each. Didn't seem to keep me from buying a couple today but gosh......!
I am BEYOND wxcited for this like so so so excited my theme this year is going to be haunted houses, so I’m way excited for this and I’ve been wanting to add this piece to my collection forever currently doing lemax, but this one’s got to get in there somehow
Seriously fascinating and helpful. Did you say you ordered the Proxon on Amazon? I’ve never tried to do this because I thought I would need some kind of saw or something. Thanks for going to all the trouble to do this for us!
This is an awesome video, it's also like a how to use your proxxon 101 for me. I wonder how to use it with big blocks now I know. Very well explained, even a newbie like me gets it. I just bought mine last year around 3rd week of October so its pretty new and I only know how to use it for a crypt based from your video how to make a crypt. Also Mr. Carl, where did you purchase the green styro you used for base and the road your using?
Hi Carl I so love your videos and working hard to have something similar. In general how far back do you cut out for steps. Mine don’t come out as nice as yours. I know each vignette is different so I have to take that into account. Thanks. Hope this makes sense
Everything looks great so far except where the car comes out of the garage. There's kinda of a big drop where the car meets the driveway. Are you going to maybe put in a small ramp so that you can just smoothly drive the car straight into the garage without the car having to go over that hump or have you got another idea in mind? Just wondering. Otherwise like I said, it looks great. I enjoyed your video very much.
This is awesome, thanks for showing your detailed tutorial! I've tried a hot wire tool on styrofoam that was so bad I threw the piece away. Are there any lingering odors when using the project board and XPF foam?
Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to educating new comers. Your videos are gold!
Glad you like them!
Glad you are back. We missed you! This is excellent showing the precise steps to village creations! 👏 Looking forward to your next tutorial.😊
Thank you so much!

Thanks for doing step by step instructions in real time.
You're welcome!
I'm glad you're back, Carl. So appreciate all that you do! Thanks.
I appreciate that! Thank you!
Great series! Very encouraging! Your videos are a wonderful, informative, boost to the hobby. We look forward to your next video as soon as we watch your latest.
Thanks so much!
This series is awesome! Thank you for doing this for us. 😊
You are so welcome!

Good deal! Happy to have helped out!!
Omg. We are starting early this year. This is awesome, wish I had this much extra time in the day. Thanks for showing us this
Thanks!
Even as a 2 year builder I got a bunch from this video so thank you
Awesome!!
Thanks Carl I will do that. I really enjoy watching the videos and have learned a lot. Appreciate all your help
Very welcome
Thank you have been watching since last year all your video's are very helpful but this is by far the best to watch step by step crafting
Thank you, I’m glad to help!!
Love the video, the driveway is awesome.
Thank you!
Yes!! A new series! 🧡
Glad you’re enjoying!!
Love it, of course, I do really enjoy watching you create, who knows I might try it out yet. I can see a mimi pumpkin garden out back by garage nothing big just a few.
Great idea!
Excellent Job! I learned so much. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
❤❤❤ thank you, Carl! You’ve been missed. I did driveways this year….your method is better😄
Appreciate the kind words! Glad to be back!
I love the stone work you do. Would tie in great I think.
Awesome…thank you!
Great suggestion! Just need a mailbox!
Build it with bricks!
Thank you, Carl. A very informative video. This was great!
Glad you liked it!
Welcome back!
Thanks brother!
Old stonework, I think, would go good with the color of the house.
Thanks for the suggestion!!
Thank you for this tutorial! I’ve watched all your previous videos but learned so much from this new one-mainly lowering the heat on the Proxon which gives more control on the cuts!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video
Appreciate the work you put into this demo. Now, I may have to put away Christmas villages to start to think about my Halloween displays 😊 Stay inspired.
Thank you! I will try!!

You are so welcome! The Proxxon makes everything better!!
Hey Carl! I'm looking forward to seeing this progress! I have a question
Could you incorporate viniettes for small areas into your videos. Also for narrow spots. The more videos I watch the more ideas I get!! I just don't have room for more than one layout. I love love love your videos!!❤
Thanks! The techniques are all the same regardless of the size you’re building. I typically only build what I’ll display in my setup.
This video was fantastic, and sooooooo helpful. I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate your time showing us all of this. Love this! You are an inspiration. I am a huge Home Alone fan but I can't find a ceramic Home Alone house. Do you know if that exists? I've only seen Lego kits which I'm not loving.
Thank you! The Lego one is the only one I’m aware of as well. Perhaps someday Dept 56 will make one-seems like a no brainer to me!
I also wish someone would make a realistic replica. Last year, I wrote an email to Department 56 to ask them if they would consider producing a Home Alone subseries for Christmas in the City (CIC). Haha-I know! Everything has gone up in price!
I am BEYOND wxcited for this like so so so excited my theme this year is going to be haunted houses, so I’m way excited for this and I’ve been wanting to add this piece to my collection forever currently doing lemax, but this one’s got to get in there somehow
Good deal-you can usually find Grimsley at a reasonable price on most of the second-hand sites. One of my all-time favorite houses!
Seriously fascinating and helpful. Did you say you ordered the Proxon on Amazon? I’ve never tried to do this because I thought I would need some kind of saw or something. Thanks for going to all the trouble to do this for us!
Yep, bought it from Amazon a few years ago!
Great video. I’m late to your channel. Was wondering why you chose to go up 2 ins from road level for your manor house
Cause I wanted it to sit on higher hill.
This is an awesome video, it's also like a how to use your proxxon 101 for me. I wonder how to use it with big blocks now I know. Very well explained, even a newbie like me gets it. Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the Proxxon. The green foam is from Lowe’s.
Hi Carl I so love your videos and working hard to have something similar. In general how far back do you cut out for steps. Mine don’t come out as nice as yours. I know each vignette is different so I have to take that into account. Thanks. Hope this makes sense
Hi there! I generally cut mine back ~2-3” depending on the height.
Everything looks great so far except where the car comes out of the garage. There's kinda of a big drop where the car meets the driveway. Nah…Grimsly is too old and cranky to drive much anymore, the car will more than likely never leave the garage 😉
I hear ya.
This is awesome, thanks for showing your detailed tutorial! I've tried a hot wire tool on styrofoam that was so bad I threw the piece away. Are there any lingering odors when using the project board and XPF foam?
Hi there! Thanks! I do most of my cutting outside to minimize the odors-there is no lingering odor on the foam afterwards.
