I was watching this when it first aired and I was all giddy watching and thinking they have no idea what’s about to happen. There were cut scenes where some of them were talking like “what will the metal singer do?” In regards to the first week focusing on Henk the classical singer. I’m at home yelling at my tv “She’s going to smash it!” Then she did smash it. Even impressing me and I was expecting it. Then she went on to smash every single show week after week and I found a new appreciation for her talent. Even thou I thought she was the greatest before she ever went on this show.
Floor makes every one of them cry when she sings "I Don't Know Anything About Love" to Ruben Annik, and then Emma makes Floor cry with her version of Floor's song "Strong" both must sees. :)
To be fair, most of them could make Ruben cry. 😉 But that was a tough day for him with Emma softening him up with Wie je was and then Floor really killing him with I don't know anything about love.

That's mainly because it's not about competition but about enjoying music together and getting to know the songs of your fellow singers. I wish there were more shows like this for other countries

It was a favorite of Henk's father, and his mother would often sing it, which is why it has such meaning for him.

The performances here are from opposite ends of the series - Floor actually sang Vilja Lied as the opening song of the first episode, and it is from the operetta "The Merry Widow" by Franz Lehár, which debuted in 1905, so right in Henk's wheelhouse (as well as being a massive shock and wake-up call to the others - that was the last thing they expected of a singer from any genre of rock!). The song by Henk and Emma was from the final episode, which is devoted entirely to duets - during the preceding episodes and the time they spend together between them, each singer gets to choose one of the others to do a duet with, in the final episode. Floor both started and finished the series, as her duet with Henk of "The Phantom Of The Opera" was the last of the final episode. @@deeteenw I watched the whole series in chronological order, as some of the discussions refer back to previous performances or incidents, so unless you watch in order, it is hard to untangle them. I came away with huge respect for all of the singers, even if I'm not a huge fan of their genre. They all showed great versatility and respect for each other, and I only wish we had the same show in English. Non-competitive and enjoyable all round, with all of them expanding their repertoire and learning from each other. I think Henk sums it up best: "Good music is good music".
I think this is the same format than Finnish Vain Elämää which was one of the reality TVs I liked most when I still lived with a TV. This kind of cooperative and friendly format wins hands down over cutthroat competition of American shows. Which might explain why these are popular in the Europe but not seen in the US; different cultures, different focuses.
This Beste Zangers (Best Singers!) show indeed invites the best singers from the Dutch music scene to participate and sing either songs ofone another or songs that are important for them. Seeing her professional peers being blown away by her (just like you :-) ) is such a treat. This show format really is the best. Great reaction.

"Vilja Lied" (Vilja Song), as mentioned, is from "Die Lustige Witwe", "The Merry Widow", a rather famous operetta :). Floor opened the series with this song, immediately setting the bar at a rather high level, completely surprising the others, whoi hadn't really heard her singing in real life yet :). I started by watching Floor's perfomances, but have ended up watching all the episodes, several times, and will continue to do so. A massive thanks to the lady who translated the show, and put up the subtitles, opening it up to a larger audience.

Again a very nice reaction, Thomas. The Netherlands has crazy good talents. Shows like Beste Zangers shows them on their best. Another Dutch Operasinger Maria Fiselier even raps to 'Lose yourself' from Eminem. Masterfull with her breathcontrol and clear diction and flow. You must see that.
In other seasons there are more gems to be found. Maria Fisilier (operasinger) with ‘lose yourself’ and Tommie Christiaan and Tania Kross with ‘Barcelona’ are good examples. The guy that has the greatest reactions is Rolf Sanchez. He also sings with Emma. And he does a very good Hotel California. All very nice to check out.
Great duet and thx for your great reaction. The 2021 season is now on in my country. There's a great line up again. Among them is Anneke van Giersbergen.She inspired Floor and the rest is history.

by the way, this was the first time they heard floor sing.Only Tim knew her from after forever. Denise hofs and jenniezelf have subtitled some episodes,both differrent episodes
Floor's performance being the first of the whole season really set the bar high for the rest. But they all delivered. Afterwards she also sings in spanish and dutch, and of course english. The show did put her in the map in her country, and the band joined her in her solo tour in Netherlands, just before the pandemic striked worldwide (unfortunately one show that was going to be filmed is still pending).
a few months ago i binged this entire season in one sitting and i have no regrets. so glad you enjoyed vivo per lei, i love floor but i prefer that particular duet, rather than phantom, which i believe youve seen. i highly recommend watching the whole show because honestly the group of people they selected for this season could not have had better chemistry, and there were a lot of tear-jerkers. as for vilja lied, others have said it, but that was the very first performance of the season, so many of the other singers on the couch had no idea how good floor is, and were in for quite the surprise, as you can see LOL. i highly recommend watching floor perform winner for tim akkerman and about love i dont know a thing for ruben annink, as well as emma heesters performing strong for floor. all three of those were some of my favourite and i definitely got choked up in all of them. hope to see more beste zangers 2019 reacts coming from your channel, i really think you'll love it! been a pleasure watching, as usual, have a good day!

You need to see Strong from this show!!! Emma sings this song written by Floor, especially for Floor. That song and the song Winner by Floor, and this one Vivo per lei are my favorites!!!
First of all, love your reaction. Beste zangers is like you already said a non-competetive singer show. Every other week one of the artists sits in the central spot on the couch and every other singer sings a song for him or her. That can be a song that they're related to in some way, or even a song they wrote themselves. For that matter you should check out 'Winner' performed by Floor. Tim Akkerman, former leadsinger of the Dutch rockband Di-rect wrote that song for his brother, who is living his life in a wheelchair. That performance will really hit you in the chest! Most of all, check his reaction while sitting on that couch! If you haven't guessed already I'm also Dutch and I know Floor for a really long time now, and I'm so proud that maybe the best female singer on the globe, is coming from around here... (She used to live in my zipcode). And seeing her becoming the leadsinger of Nightwish, my favourite band since I discovered them around 2002 is making me feel so, I don't know how to say it, but like really proud in some way... She's awesome and they're a perfect match in every way.... So sad about Marko though......

At the time Tim was the only one who knew who she was. The others literally had to Google her to find out who she was and what she did. After this eberyone knew her although it blew up after the Phantom performance

You say they are humble and its due to their Dutch upbringing. You grow up and learn not to be arrogant. People just woun't accept that, arrogant beople will be judged for it. "Be normal, thats good enough" is what we Dutchies say. It's comming from our Calvinistic past. "a haughty spirit before a fall." Although not that many people still are religious, the act-normal-spirit stayed with us. They all can be proud, they all are great singers and have worked hard to get where they are now.

I agree: it was an unexpected and beautiful combination initiated by Henk. He was also impressed by what Emma was doing on YT with her covers. If you like to see/hear something further complete unbelivable, unique and new in cover world that Emma is doing since last year is the producing of covers on YT in English of Hindi/Punjabi/Urdu (in short the Indian subcontinent) super songs. Now she is in healthy concurrence with another beautiful cover singer from India called AiSh. They produce more or less the same covers, Aish in Hindi and Emma in English. They have much in common. I have heard several versions of this song sung by Andrea Bocelli and a female, but I enjoyed this as much as any.

I'd love to recommend another video from Beste Zangers: Samantha Steenwijk - Ik ben altijd dicht bij jou. It's a Dutch cover from the Nightwish song 'Our Decades in the Sun', she sang it for Floor. Samantha has the deepest and most powerful voice! I'm sure you'll love it!

Floor's performance being the first of the whole season really set the bar high for the rest. But they all delivered.
Afterwards she also sings in spanish and dutch, and of course english.
The show did put her in the map in her country, and the band joined her in her solo tour in Netherlands, just before the pandemic striked worldwide (unfortunately one show that was going to be filmed is still pending).

a few months ago i binged this entire season in one sitting and i have no regrets. so glad you enjoyed vivo per lei, i love floor but i prefer that particular duet, rather than phantom, which i believe youve seen. i highly recommend watching the whole show because honestly the group of people they selected for this season could not have had better chemistry, and there were a lot of tear-jerkers. as for vilja lied, others have said it, but that was the very first performance of the season, so many of the other singers on the couch had no idea how good floor is, and were in for quite the surprise, as you can see LOL. i highly recommend watching floor perform winner for tim akkerman and about love i dont know a thing for ruben annink, as well as emma heesters performing strong for floor. all three of those were some of my favourite and i definitely got choked up in all of them.

You need to see Strong from this show!!! Emma sings this song written by Floor, especially for Floor. That song and the song Winner by Floor, and this one Vivo per lei are my favorites!!!
First of all, love your reaction. Beste zangers is like you already said a non-competetive singer show. Every other week one of the artists sits in the central spot on the couch and every other singer sings a song for him or her. That can be a song that they're related to in some way, or even a song they wrote themselves. For that matter you should check out 'Winner' performed by Floor. Tim Akkerman, former leadsinger of the Dutch rockband Di-rect wrote that song for his brother, who is living his life in a wheelchair. That performance will really hit you in the chest! Most of all, check his reaction while sitting on that couch! If you haven't guessed already I'm also Dutch and I know Floor for a really long time now, and I'm so proud that maybe the best female singer on the globe, is coming from around here... (She used to live in my zipcode). And seeing her becoming the leadsinger of Nightwish, my favourite band since I discovered them around 2002 is making me feel so, I don't know how to say it, but like really proud in some way... She's awesome and they're a perfect match in every way....

You say they are humble and its due to their Dutch upbringing. You grow up and learn not to be arrogant. People just woun't accept that, arrogant beople will be judged for it. "Be normal, thats good enough" is what we Dutchies say. It's comming from our Calvinistic past. "a haughty spirit before a fall."

I agree: it was an unexpected and beautiful combination initiated by Henk. He was also impressed by what Emma was doing on YT with her covers. If you like to see/hear something further complete unbelivable, unique and new in cover world that Emma is doing since last year is the producing of covers on YT in English of Hindi/Punjabi/Urdu (in short the Indian subcontinent) super songs. So far she did already 11 covers. It begun with Sayad, see th-cam.com/video/xtpIfc8xtOo/w-d-xo.html in March 2020. Now she is in healthy concurrence with another beautiful cover singer from India called AiSh. They produce more or less the same covers, Aish in Hindi and Emma in English. They have much in common. The Subcontinent is enjoying this whole thing very much.
