Thanks,,, I think all of the owners are very proud and happy with their trucks. The Mega Cab with the hauler body would certainly be something cool to see!!
But the Rams have power spot mirrors, so there. LOL We nearly went with a 4500 Cab & Chassis with full Kelderman and Utility Elite hauler. Our toy hauler put just under 4,800 lbs on the hitch, so we just went 3500 dually pickup this go-around. Might go Super C next, so it all works out in the end.
Thanks. I did see something I think on the Utility Bodywerks site about a bed that worked with a truck camper. You might want to check that out. I saw that not to long ago.
It would be nice to see General Motors come out with the straight axle option for the front end make the 3500 4550 500 a similar body style instead of like it is now where the 5500 is basically like a Ford F650 or 750 don’t get me wrong. I like the new models. I just hate climbing in the high trucks now I’m not 18 anymore.
We're a bit on the fence between F-450 pickup or F-550 RV hauler like these, but our insurance company won't insure any Class IV or V vehicles on our policy. They told us a commercial insurance would be perhaps double in cost per year ($2,500+). Curious what others have found and what insurance companies deal with these. Anybody do them on non-commercial basis? I know state of residence matters and we are in Michigan.
A lot of people have ran into that and I always recommend contacting Miller Insurance, they are based in Oregon but they do insurance all over the country so they could possibly help you. Miller is who we have gone through for many many years. For the record we are not associated to Miller in any way other than being a long time customer. The key is to have your RV and truck on the same policy but they can explain all of that to you. Please stop back in and let us know if this helps. Oh we also have friends with both the F450 and F550 and they love their trucks.
for these types of beds if they were to be put on a 350/3500 or 450/4500 would that truck need to be a cab & chassis or a pickup bed truck. I hope someday to have a setup like this. All three trucks are very nice.
I'm curious why no one opted for the 84" hauler bed. I've talked to both manufactures and it sounds like the trailer above the pin box will contact the cab of the truck/headache bar when turning sharp. So the 60" hauler bed definitely won't allow a turn anywhere close to 90 degrees. It seems like the 60" hauler bed defeats the purpose of having the 4500 & 5500 truck with a sharper turning radius. Thoughts?
I don't think not having the longer wheel base of the 84" defeats the purpose of having the wide track frontend at all. Even sitting directly lined up with the truck having the wide track front allows for quicker turning of the RV and better movement. And when using as a daily driver it comes in handy all the time. I've never HAD to put ourselves at 90 degree's jockeying into a site but I'm not so sure that we can't get to 90 degree's, Thats something I will need to test myself.
@@daveanddianethrowingcautio5707 Dave I believe that your truck will probably do 90 degrees. i have identical truck as black one in the video and the Tiara has more girth to it than yours.i would have opted for that if I had known it existed. The only thing stopping me from 90 is the lights but even that is to close for comfort. would like to see a test on yours as Im thinking of a custom slimmer back/canterleaver roof rack to house the spare tire.Great Video. love my Utility Bodywerks bed.
The only thing I don't like about these medium duty rigs is the derated 6.7. Has that been an issue while pulling heavy 5ers? I don't understand why the manufacturers do that. Maybe you have the answer to that.
I've been told that a lot of business buy this type of truck and it hampers the average employee from tearing things up so quickly but I'm not sure. To be honest with the gearing the truck drives great and I'm betting the average person jumping in and driving would not even thing about it.
great video. I of course like the dodges. I have a 17 2500 I have electric folding mirrors I am surprised that you and the outher ram don’t. So if you are a cord guy how you don’t have one just wondering. Thanks again for the video.
When doing my research between the Ford F550 and the Ram 5500 they were very close but it seemed the Rams Exhaust brake outperformed the Fords and we do a good amount of mountain driving and that was important. Then it's just very hard to turn your head away from the performance of a Cummins. .
With the 4.88 gears, what fuel mileage does the dodge get without a trailer at highway speed? 14-15 mpg at 80 mph?? Level ground on a 4 lane road with big camper? 9-10??
Running empty at 70 or so I plan for right at 15mpg, with our 5th wheel after our 7600 mile route (all with the 5th wheel hooked up) this last summer we got 8mpg.
Awesome trucks! I’d love to have one of those beds on my 2022 F450 Limited 😄 i’m curious to see how much those custom beds weigh compared to the stock bed. I would imagine they’re a bit heavier, and that would cut down on my useful payload.
Thanks, I know we all love our trucks. I wish I could remember what I was told about the weight when I asked but I just don't and I don't want to guess with a incorrect number, sorry. But I know a call would get you the answer. If you do let them know Dave sent you. Oh I get no kickbacks, just nice for them to know that customers are talking about their products.
Our Elite 56 for the Ford F-450 complete and installed weighs approximately 930 LBS (including all hardware, lights, wiring, light pylon, rear bumper, and steel sub-frame)
Perfect, thanks for chiming in on that. I think an 8' regular truck bed weighs around 550lbs or so, so by having a much better bed with a hauler bode it's really not that much difference weight wise.
@@daveanddianethrowingcautio5707 problem is we have a Limited F450, all the bells and whistles. Payload of only 4,697 to begin with so every pound counts. By adding the flat bet would severely lower useable weight. The best truck to use in this configurations would be the XLT or lower trim package. I like the comfort of bells and whistles so I must keep within my existing limits.
Why could put a self leveling air value on the fifth wheel so it could be hands free ? The builder should put that on .there is an air minimum for the bags. Adjust for your trailer one time and be done.
The ford owner should check if he would be part of the class action lawsuit against ford for reducing the A and B pillar and using cheaper steel so the top folds down in a roll over accident. All the super duties for 1999 to 2020 I think but not positive on the years.
That lawsuit applies to trucks made between 1999-2016. Dave and I both have towed all over the country across many mountain passes and on horrendous roads. We are both hauling a New Horizon fifth wheel which is quite heavy but each of our trucks has performed quite well in all different terrain including very steep mountain passes such as Wolf Creek. The beauty of these trucks is that they are decent daily drivers particularly with the wide track front end.
That's what makes the world go around. There is a truck seat that fits everyone differently. For us that wasn't even a consideration. Thanks for popping in.
Blind. U should be blind. Ray Charles can see the 550 is clearly the betr truck. Ram this Ram that. First off buy back ur shares and own ur own company then let’s talk. It’s not a Ram. It’s a Fiat.
I saw this Lux Truck and Lux camper this past Aug when we were camping there. Beautiful piece of work for both truck and trailer. Thanks for sharing
Yes, they spend a lot of time there. Great looking unit and very nice folks as well. Thanks for watching and the comment.
These dudes living the life!
Well we sure enjoy our trucks thats for sure. Thanks for stopping in.
bigger is better when towing a 5th wheel.... awesome video
There is a lot of truth to that statement.
Beautiful trucks. These 5500 trucks have that wider stance 👌 if they had the megacab option.. that would be a sight to see!
Thanks,,, I think all of the owners are very proud and happy with their trucks. The Mega Cab with the hauler body would certainly be something cool to see!!
Another PERFECT video. Great group of guys picking on each other for silly things.
Damn those are just gorgeous, happy for you all. Im working my way towards one now. Hopefully soon ill have mine fingers crossed.
Thanks!!! And I'm sure you will love yours once it arrives. Thanks for watching!!
😀 👍 these are the right vehicles for these 5th wheel RV towing
I think we agree 100%. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Awesome trucks, thanks guys.
THANKS!! Glad you enjoyed it.
Great video guys they are beautiful trucks have a great day be safe.
Hey thank you, glad you enjoyed it. And thanks for stopping in and watching. Have a great week.
Love the comparison but also love that park and last year we stayed in that exact same lot with friends.
It is a nice park and we love that it's privately owned and that the owner is so hands on. Thanks for stopping in!!
Super cool trucks!!!!! Loved the drone footage!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
I see that Dos Equis.
Beautiful trucks!

Daaang those trucks are nice!! Great drone footage!! Go Browns 😂
Thanks, I know all of these owners are very proud of their rigs. I wish the Browns would have beaten LA!! Go Chiefs!!
Florida for the win.
The Ford!!
My 2020 3500 Dually RAM has electric folding mirrors
Go ahead, rub it in LOL!!!
Nice video! Very informative.
Thanks Scott, glad you enjoyed it.

Is there rallies or clubs out there for this style of truck like an HDT type group?
Not that I'm aware of but it would be nice if there was.

none whatsoever
Hey Dave! Nice hauler trucks! But wayyy out of ‘my’ affordability though! Thanks for sharing! ~Jim~
Thanks!!! We sure like them but hated paying for them LOL!!
let's go KC!!!!!
Go Chiefs!!
Give me the Ford all day.
That's what makes the world go round I was a doed guy for many many years but there is no denying the Rams exhaust brake and the Cummins/ Aisin combo.
Now I can only imagine how much big money
Not inexpensive thats for sure.
Sir is the truck a 60 ca?
Yes it is.
Woah!
Oh yes!!
Power folding mirrors on the Ram as 2023

That 4.88 and 4.89 gears seem quite high for running down the road. Pull like a bear though.
No, not really. I did a video of our truck with 4.89 gears going down the freeway at different speeds. Check it out.
I would think 4:89 gears with the old six speed transmission, that engine will be screaming at 65 mph.

First of all. Anybody with the name Dave is cool with me! (just sayin'). That RAM 5500 made me soo... turned on! ;-)
