I don’t mean this in a negative light at all, so please don’t take it that way.
Would you ever consider getting maybe a part time job? I feel like it will distract you and keep your mind busy in a positive way and take off some of your focus on health issues and eating.

I think it's fair that Tammy wants to get answers about her health and underlying reasons for her behavioural patterns, however I hope that she doesn't start throwing around all these diagnoses as excuses for not putting in the work to better herself. They should be used to help her understand herself, not a new identity and a crutch that'll help her never leave her comfort zone. Time will tell if this is going to be the same situation as with Amberlynn and her lifelong struggle with OBCD and whatever else the quirky gorl has been diagnosed with.

I was on Ozempic for 5 months, and I lost 42 pounds. Unfortunately, I got diagnosed with pancreatitis, which was caused by the Ozempic. I had to stop the medication immediately. I was very sick for a few weeks. I'm not suggesting for people not to try Ozempic but just air on the side of caution with it and learn about the side effects of this medication before deciding to start taking it. The cravings and hunger unfortunately came back immediately for me, but it's been 3 weeks, and I haven't gained any of the weight back so far. I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide 😊

Is there any benefits that would come with getting the autism testing? Like, would it help you with getting a more specialized therapist or anything that'd improve your life other than knowing for sure?

Since you are not used to imperial measurements (pounds, inches etc) , you should describe your height and weight in kilos. You can always add the pounds in your editing. Many of your viewers are comfortable with kilograms, but more importantly YOU are used to imetric measurements.
The reality of hearing what you are used to is not the same as an equivalent translated.. sort of like hearing or using curse words or shocking language in a language other than your native language.

Tammy , I think it's awesome that you are taking the steps with the self care and yah sometimes It seems like forever or impossible almost to get to wellness. I personally feel like the steps we are taking to care for ourselves speaks volumes even if we aren't getting the care we need or it feels so far out of reach.

I'm using Ozempic and yes it helps with your hunger and you can loose weight ( i didn't loose anything ) but it doesn't fix the eating disorder. Even when I'm not hungry as soon as the ED hits it doesn't matter if I'm hungry or not, you are still gonna eat. Even though it's not easy to get meds like Ozempic here in NL I'm still having a hard time to get my meds because everywhere in the rest of the world it's so easy to get it that often times there is not enough of that medicine available which causes real stress. Because i use it for my diabetes and not for loosing weight. Regarding the choice between ED therapy or ASD diagnoses. I personally would go for ED therapy cuzz you don't need a ASD diagnoses to be mindful for yourself and surroundings. You can treat yourself as having ASD and adjust things/life where needed. Like you already do, for instance having your headphones with ya and your sunglasses ( i never go out without those 2 ). There is so much info out there about ASD. I think it's more beneficial to you to get the right therapy for your ED. In the end it's just my opinion, you have to decide for yourself. Goodluck with that !

God the whole situation with your psychologist was so upsetting :/ You handled it so well, if it was me I'd have a multiple week long mental breakdown about it. It sounds like he just developed some kind of prejudice against you and then acted on it in the worst way. It's horrible when people like him act that way because they're in a huge position of power over you, they should know this and act accordingly. They have the power to cut you off from resources and gatekeep access to further medical help, no one should be allowed to abuse that much power so easily. I'm so sorry that you were treated that way, especially when they were supposed to help you. I really think that they had some kind of prejudice against you.

She exhibited good functioning with all she's doing, accomplishing, shopping, improving. The psychologist has to judge that to NOT progressing. This has nothing to do with eating. The psychologist is funded by the welfare coverage system Tammy is on. The psychologist must decide whether he's being ethical and professional in charging the government for services Tammy has outgrown. The psychologist is correct in making his judgement call. There are those who need his professional resources because they cannot accomplish what Tammy is now accomplishing.

    • @taylorg2320
      @taylorg2320 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@mf-fb4bt It sounded very much like the psychologist was upset that Tammy pointed out his lack of professionalism during their session and immediately decided to end their future sessions. Psychologists are humans and can be prejudiced and shitty, medical professionals aren't gods who can do no wrong. Tammy herself has said that she still deeply struggles and the psychologist simply chose not to believe her. That's not okay in any capacitym

My labs are all within normal range now. However, I have BED and still occasionally get a little bingey. It scares me when this happens. I know I will have to take this medication forever or most likely will gain all the weight back. But, I feel so great. Hi Tammy, I've been watching your videos for a few months and I'm really proud of your progress and hope that you're doing fine. I'm not one to comment often but I knew that I have to say something the minute I saw Nutella. He/ she seems like a really nice hamster but please, if it's not too much, try to educate his/ her owners about proper hamster care. From what I've seen, his enclosure is way too little and can be potentially dangerous (hamster's little feet may be caught between metal bars; I've witnessed it happen before - it often leads to death or amputation). Also, there is no way that a safe (big enough) wheel would fit into that enclosure. I'm not trying to be condescending or preachy, please understand that I genuinely care for these little creatures (I have one beautiful hamster baby myself) and I know that you care for animals too. A good place to start would be youtube (Victoria Raechel is one channel I would recommend, she has a lot of solid info). You can also find a lot of information on websites run by ethical (!) hamster breeders and by different organizations that help small animals in need. Anyway, wish you all the best, take care Tammy!

Why can't you get help for your eating disorder and tested for autism at the same time . I watch another channel and this girl is practically dying if anorexia and getting help is almost impossible. There seems to be a lot lacking in the health care there or maybe I'm hit understanding something. I'm from the US and we go to the doctors and have 5 things wrong they test and treat it all. We don't have to choose one thing or the other were going to do first. The doctor just sets up appointments dir whatever we need and if we need a specialized doctor he gives us a referral or makes the appointments and the office cakks to tell us all that and we go. I feel bad that you have to choose. They are both important.

I honestly think you could get the same results as Ozempic by eating fewer pieces of bread (1-2, never 3) and eating lots more FIBER and vegetables. If you try to not cook down your veggies so much, the fiber will be more intact. And high-fiber foods are more filling and better for our gut-health. So try to only lightly cook them or eat a nice fresh salad? Personally, I would never gamble with a drug like Ozempic for weight loss. The risk is too high. After I quit eating lots of sugar and reduced the starches (breads) I was used to eating, I lost the weight - And I no longer have the cravings I used to have. Now (I noticed too!) that I just get hungry in the days leading up to my period. So I eat more, and make sure I’m eating good things for periods like spinach (for iron), bananas (potassium), and pumpkin seeds. And so, by figuring out the code and feeding my body with good things it might actually be craving (chocolate = iron = spinach) I don’t have the terrible cramps I used to have, either! Tammy, I think you are very smart and strong enough to do what you want to do without Ozempic. So I am super happy you see it’s flaws as not helping any underlying problems! Go Tammy!! 💛🍋

    Hei Tammy! 🤍
In 2021/2022 my BED was out of control and in 9 months time I gained 60kgs. I started going to ED therapy and I also started seeing a nutritionist at the hospital. The hospital also considered offering me weightloss surgery, but decided against it due to my ED. They did however offer me Saxenda.
In Norway the requirements for getting Saxenda was having a BMI over 50, when I started my weightloss journey in July 2022 my BMI ws 54. I lost 7kgs on my own from July-December and the 21st of December I started on Saxenda.
Since starting this medication my intrusive binge eating thoughts have almost completely gone away. I rarely have cravings and if I ever think of food at all I forget about it almost as soon as I remembered. Im full from smaller portions and I generally dont really want food anymore. I feel like I have a lot more «peace of mind» around food. Ive only had one «binge» since December too, and I say «binge» because I personally felt like I ate too much. The truth was it was a regular day «off plan», where I had an iced coffee and a pastry with a friend and then a larger meal at home later in the evening.
Ive been watching your videos for quite a long time now because I always felt like you and I have similar issues and a lot in common. Theres been plenty of times where Ive wanted to suggest Saxenda as an option for you. I know it doesnt work for everyone, and I know its expensive (at least in Norway), but its been an amazing tool in helping me cope with my BED, and the weightloss has been a huge plus. I am down 20kgs and I feel a lot lighter and better in my body which also causes me to want to move more and be more active.
I dont know if youll ever read this, but I figured for once it might be worth sharing my insight. Wishing you all the best, Tammy. ♥️
    Hugs from Norway. ❤️🇳🇴🤍🇳🇴💙

I have autism but diagnosis didn't really affect anything. Going on medication (SSRI and antipsychotic) helped my anxiety (OCD) the most. Diagnosis took about 2 years and a lot of different assessments, IQ test etc. It can be very expensive. I also have sleep apnea and use a CPAP. My sleep specialist said going to bed at the same time and getting up at the same time, avoiding naps, will have far more impact than using the CPAP. He said the CPAP wouldn't help my constant fatigue much and he was right, I don't feel better, but I'm not good with the sleep schedule. That's the most important thing. Your sleep can never be good if you're irregular. My doctor was willing to put me on saxenda (ozempic not available) but I decided not to because it can worsen mental health conditions and causes thyroid cancer in animals. Data on humans not available.

When I gained a lot of weight, I could feel my body becoming more uncomfortable when sleeping. I had to change how I slept to get to sleep. And then I had these weird symptoms waking up suddenly in the middle of the night. I think it probably was sleep apnea. Thankfully, my doctor helped me start losing weight right away. And whatever that was, stopped. I think I am getting much better sleep now. Plus, I tinted all my computer and tv screens warm-color to prevent blue-light disrupting our sleep patterns. I think it helped! Those little Himalayan salt lamps have nice warm light, too.

Omg, I have been tested for sleep apnea as well. I dream non stop, I remember my dreams, I snore (a LOT). I wasn't suffering from sleep apnea, so I am doing what I can to not snore. THC is legal here as well, so I bought some of the gel caps, they help me sleep but I get a hangover!

I think Ozempic and Saxenda are different things, semaglutide vs liraglutide. I have an ED and use Ozempic and tbh, it has actually helped me to understand my ED urges more and I have actually been able to sit with the psychological discomfort without having a binge. A year after starting it, I'm down 50 pounds, but the weight loss has stopped, even though I have at least 25 more to go, and it's not as effective as it used to be anymore. However, 50 pounds is 50 pounds and it gave me a chance to analyze myself before going straight to the binge and relieving my cravings. I understand the stimuli and motivation behind my issues more.

      @AzaleaBee ปีที่แล้ว +1

"... it's not as effective as it used to be anymore." Are you sure about that?
I'm certainly not an advocate of ozempic but you've lost and MAINTAINED a 50 lb weight loss without rebounding (yo-yoing). After a significant amount of body fat loss, it is normal for our bodies to adjust and resist further weight loss. The weight loss itself is not the goal. The maintenance is. Celebrate the maintenance of body fat lost over the long term.

Stop making excuses for the fact that you must eat the correct amount of food for a human being to be of a healthy weight.
Autism - that label will mean higher travel insurance costs when you travel.
Other health issues must be dealt with. Getting your weight down will help.
Ozempic - if you put in the work to eat less and exercise more it will be a bonus.
Your overall caloric intake, including binges, has to be the right level for your activity level to KEEP YOU SAFE.
How about instead if binging you do a live and have a rant?

@Barta sparta Hadn't noticed the lack of response. I hope she reads and stops making excuses for eating too much. She is very high functioning if she believes she is autistic, in fact too high functioning - she successfully lives alone and is making a living. The label would create many future problems.
One Amber is enough and we are either waiting for something to click and she starts losing, or her demise. I don't wish the same of Tammy.

I had been suffering from ED for almoust 40 years. I am beginning to think that abnormal urge for eating is hormonal, hence overeating. There is disconnect with the satiety signal and the brain.
More often then not, autistic people suffer from ED. I wouldn't be surprised if research proves this one day. I have never meet any extrovert, socially well adjusted, no anxiety, calm and composed person, with ED. Of course, not all Autistic people have ED, but I think, I could be wrong, that all ED people are Autistic.
I just wonder why so little is know on this topic and why prevention and cure hasn't been found yet when there are billions of sufferers?!?!

Hi Tammy! I can speak to Wegovy (ozempic). I have also struggled for decades🤦‍♀️ with BED. I have tried everything short of surgery. Doctor discussed Wegovy with me. I started it and have lost 20 pounds so far! That’s not the best part. The best part is the food “noise” is gone. I used to think about food and what I would eat all day. I still enjoy food but I don’t obsess and I have not binged in 3 months and have no desire to do so. I am eating well, working out 5 times a week and focus on maintains good mental health. I am aware I may need to be on this for life. Saxenda is a similiar medication. This has been a god send for BED. Good luck in your journey! I am a therapist and work with folks with autism. Therapy and interventions are specific for autism so pursuing an evaluation can open doors to appropriate treatment. Check out the website socialthinking.com and Michelle Garcia Winner. Her work is fantastic. It’s one part of intervention if so desired.
