Both Ace and Peter were important to the band but sadly like many other bands ego's got in the way. Styx, Journey, The Eagles and many more never reached what they could have had they put aside their egos and just played.
One of the most underrated (or controversial, even hated) bands of the seventies....many grown-ups didn't realize how much theatre and satire there was about it. Great show!

Whatever it was Ace had we all knew it it.Talent and charisma. He wasnt a classical guitarist and he will be the first to tell you. But he was cool and played tasty licks. Ace was and is the man.
Been following Kiss since i was 14 l’m nearly 60 now those guys were the best ever saw them do their last show in Glasgow last year they will be sadly missed thanks Kiss for all the great shows over 50 years no one can touch yous one word brilliant. 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍

The final 4 shows were all in Tokyo on the 1st, 2nd & 4th of April. They played 2 shows on the 2nd and both the afternoon and evening shows were recorded.

I like Kiss, and love the song Parasite, but never really got them like most fans... Until seeing this video. They put on an awesome show here, and the crowd was totally into it. I was expecting a Japanese crowd to be more reserved. Boy was I wrong! Other people may have played in Kiss, and maybe they had more talent(then again, maybe not), but no lineup showed more passion than the original group did!
I think "Alive!" was really a milestone for Kiss. It seems strange to hear the oldest songs from the first albums in the same show as the "Destroyer" and "RARO" songs. Post "Alive!" Kiss changed a lot.
Eddie Kramer should have been Kiss' George Martin. Kramer knew how to produce them and Rock N Roll Over is the best produced studio Kiss album, Love Gun a close second. They never should have moved away from him. His connection with Ace, Ace loved and respected him, may have gone against Paul and Gene's micro managing the music. Everyone knows: Ace wrote the best Kiss songs and so did Eddie Kramer. Ace's solo album will always be the best and Kramer had a hand in that one too.

Kiss was at their apex in 1977 I was at the forum show in Los Angeles for the recording of alive 2 and it was magical when I saw them in 1979 they were sluggish and the magic was gone😔

Are we sure this is 1977? The stage and costumes are clearly from destroyer? Also the drum set is not the love gun kiss alive 2 drum set that was used on that tour that began in 77. And there are no songs from love gun which is what came out in 77 🤘🏻🍻
This is definitely April 77...the end of the Rock and Roll Over Tour. The 77 Japan shows are the only shows of their kind for several reasons. 1.) They were premiering the new stage that would be used on the Love Gun tour beginning later in the year, although they still kept the Destroyer/Rock & Roll Over logo here, and there were elements to the Love Gun stage that obviously weren't added yet. So the stage is really a hybrid...this combination used only in Japan 77. 2.) Japan 77 is also the only time we see Kiss wearing the Destroyer costumes on this particular stage. It was a unique visual overlap of three different albums. In other words, they're on the Rock and Roll Over tour, wearing the Destroyer costumes and they're using 3/4 of the brand new Love Gun stage (though Love Gun wouldn't even be recorded for another month or two). They were turning out so many albums at such a fast pace between 74-77, that the albums and tours often overlapped.
Further proving my long held belief that 'Rock and Roll Over' is the greatest post-ALIVE studio album of the halcyon days. It's beyond obvious that the material was meant to be played live and unlike 'Destroyer', not one song loses it's impact in transition to the stage.
Their last shows would have really benefited from Ace and Peter. Mar the show Paul said, he's the last to talk he's not even a small percentage of what he was.

I believe it’s the enthusiasm that all four kiss members put out to their OWN audiences. It’s like their first three albums. They were okay good songs not great, but when the came out with Alive it showed how their music and their stage shows how much better a Live band they were. I just happened to get the KISS bug after that album can out. Hard edgier, Better sounding as they went on. I seen them in 77 at Madison Square garden. Their 1st night home in NY. The crowd and the band were explosive that night. They are a show Rock Band! Get your monies worth if you ever seen them. Seen Led Zeppelin few months later. Favorite band. But a totally different kind of show. So many shows I’ve seen with bands and their concerts and audience’s reactions all differ. It’s one’s flavor for whom they like. Take Queen in Wembley Stadium for live Aid . That band Erupted for their 4-5 song show. They captivated and audience with a day of so many great acts playing. That was showmanship and talent highest level IMO. Rock on Brother! Enjoy ain’t too much around anymore but these old videos. Bless
What is stunning to me is that 45 years later, with a few exceptions, the set list is nearly the same. My God I wish they would have changed it a little bit. Although I will say I am damn happy that Take Me wasn't included in the show. The music is okay but the lyrics and chorus are nasty. Oh my god was Peter high. You tell me. Sure seemed that way.

All kiss drummers were great. Peter just had more of an uptempo jazz flavor to his drumming which I think gave him his “sound”

Nobody considers them R&B but so much of their music was rooted in it.
