Tai running up and beating up red is why this is one of my favorites. It really shows the differance between the two franchisees on how they treat there mon
I agree with this too much. In Pokémon they have established fight rules, measures of safety, and if a real threat comes they can always run. I’m digimon every day in the digital world their lives were on the line. Running couldn’t get them away from 20-30 ft tall beasts. If push came to shove the digidestined are willing to put their own lives on the lines beside their partners. I’m not saying Pokémon trainers don’t have a deep connection with their pokemon but it’s just a totally different level for the digidestined who spent a part of their childhood fighting for their lives trying to survive in a foreign landscape.
It's a funny moment, but it's very telling about the difference between Red's relationship with his Charizard and the relationship between Tai and Agumon. You'd never see a Pokemon trainer deck someone because their pet/slave was getting their ass handed to them.
I like how this fight started because Red tried to steal Agumon, then not appologizing to Tai for trying to steal his pokemon, starting a fight and in mid fight tried to take Greymon and he wondered why Tai ran up and kicked his ass mid fight.
Moral of the story is: if you’re a Poke-trainer, don’t try to steal a Digimon because it might belong to someone, and if ya do, apologise for it. Trust me, ya don’t wanna know what that Digimon might do!
It's even more hilarious that Red has no idea how to fight, and was confused onto why someone would kick his ass for attacking their friend out of the blue.

I actually thought of a rational explanation for the radical differences between Pokémon and Digimon evolution. Pokémon, existing in the real world, evolve either similar to how one person evolves growing up, or like one species evolves into another: slowly and by increments. Digimon, being a digital form of life, evolve exponentially like computers do. Just think about how big a difference there is between computers now and just when Digimon was premiering.
Are the differences really that radical for Digimon? Baby Dino becomes adult Dino (with helmet) that then receives cyborg parts. The only big difference is the leap from ultimate to mega really. The explanation for that being twofold. One being that megas weren’t originally a form digimon could achieve in the early stages of the toys, so they had to make them stand out from the rest of their lines. They decided to do that by giving them human characteristics, which is somewhat of a trope in Japanese media.
@@VideoGuy232 No they really are radically different, sure augumon to greymon to metalgreymon is them just getting bigger really but then you look at Gatomon. Starts as a feline blob, turns into a puppy, then a into a cat, then an angel and ends up as a Fish. Also Mega digimon were a introduced in 1998, 1 year before the original anime and 1 year after the original toy.
@@Kepper2605 The first three of gatomons line look like each other, they share the same eyes and color palette, as well as the gold rings. Gatomon to angewoman is a big leap, but after that the other two final evolutions are either ophanimon, which highly resembles an armored angewoman, or magnadramon which somewhat resembles gatomon (similar eyes, quadruped, beastial). Dunno where you got fish from lol. And yes, a little over one year after the original pet was released they introduced megas, which is what I said. Not sure what your point is there. Wargreymon’s popularity likely set a precedent for armored humanoid megas
@@VideoGuy232 Marineangemon is one of Angewomon's mega paths, thats where the fish comes from. While Salamon is white (more cream really) with blue eyes like Gatomon it doesn't change that it swaps spieces for a dog to a cat, which is a pretty radical change. Magnadramon is a Dragon with blue eyes but thats also a massivly radical change from an angel wearing a mask. Also Nyaromon, Punimon and Putimon do not share colour schemes with Salamon though Nyaromon does have purple stripes on its tail, which Gatomon shares. As for the time part I must have misread what you typed as to me it seemed you where impying they added Mega's much later. Oddly enough though, out of the original megas there was only 1 armoured humanoid, that being WarGreymon.

Dewott (an otter) to Samurott (a sea lion). Trapinch (an antlion) to Vibrava (a dragonfly), exeggcute (eggs) to exeggutor (coconut tree), magikarp (fish) to gyarados (dragon). And so on. Are Pokémon evolutions more consistent design-wise? Of course they are. Are Digimon evolutions radically different? Debatable. They usually follow a theme, and share traits/colors of their previous evolutions. Not always, but usually. There are also just more of them given the number of split evos and extra stages, so it’s bound to happen occasionally And you are incorrect, the second phase of virtual pets included multiple humanoids: wargreymon, boltmon, metaletamon, venommyotismon, Piedmon and puppetmon. Don't screw with a Digi Destined's partner. Their shared fate is allies for life. Not just a companion. Tai and Augumon are like Yin&Yang, they balance eachother out and are perfect opposites yet they build off eachother. The Digi Destined can and will fight with/for their Digimon if need be. Oh yeah, and they actually age like Humans do as well. XD

Gosh~ to me the most memorable and nostalgic scene was when Agumon digivolving into Gremon. The background music the process of digivolving. It was so beautiful! Thank you death battle for doing such an amazing job in that scene! That is absolutely my favorite part.
There is no reason to rage from Pokémon fans, I love both franchises and honestly, there was NO REASON to make such an obvious video. Digimons have REAL WEAPONS, they have swords, shields, magic, energy, etc. Pokemons are like animals, and Digimons are more like aliens. As Pokemon are unable to think for themselves outside a rampaging stupor. Digimon are capable of a battling on their own and have shown to be able to do so. Look at season 2 when Veemon went up against Starmon. It was Veemon that directed his partner to transform him into Flamedramon as he was the better fighter than his Raidramon form.

You know, even after all these years, I have only just now watched the Digimon Adventure short film that preceded the anime series (as in, as its own thing and not part of "Digimon: The Movie") Kinda weird going through it and seeing a bit of a different overall tone than the dub. Not to say I didn't expect that, but now I got to see it. Even the end felt a bit more depressing by comparison. Also I didn't know Greymon ripped off one of Parrotmon's wings. Looks like Charizard's not the only one, haha.

No. Maybe the garbage way Death Battle described him since they literally did not list a feat for Charizard better than melting boulders, but Red's Charizard is able to beat Tyranitars who are literally stated on a gamely basis to be able to destroy mountains. He's also stronger than the Charizard on Team A.C.T in the Mystery Dungeon games, who can also melt mountains. Red can even stomp most Gigaliths in the Pokemon World Tournament, meanwhile even wild ones' laser can also blow away mountains. Death Battle did horrible research on Red and it shows in every category.
Yes, it's why they skipped him and specifically mentioned his nuke power in the post-battle analysis (which further illustrated how much stronger WarGreymon was).

That and they did fight the year 2000 virus which despite being a rumor was kinda real. Turned out it only broke the date of certain older programs; that's about it. But in digimon it pretty much tried to nuke japan, america and colorado. Something Red will never dare to challenge.

When a digimon looses it turns into data and reforms into an egg; so it doesn't suffer pain exaustion or death, just rebirth. That and digimon can have more than 1 line; meaning if they wanted to, they could cut out digimon to make the numbers easier; Pokemon can't do that without cutting the whole line. I bet they wish they thought of this years ago now! :D That and digimon aren't trapped in a ball. Even when they're in a device, they can get in and out at will and even talk there.

My main issue with these is that the battles are too easy to guess the winner sometimes. Little hints like the first person to power up usually loses or the last person to power up wins. Or the setting or the dialogue

Wargreymon can't destroy planets lol. In fact it's blatant in the anime that no Adventure Mega can at least until Apocalymon or higher. In fact Deoxys can destroy planets too, and Red won against Deoxys even without Mega.
Legendarydigitize Every use of the move is 1 pp regardless of level in Pokemon, the exception is only if the opponent has Pressure ability which makes the usage 2. Mega Punch has 20 PP and a max of 32. The actual joke is how they depict Fire Blast, the accuracy of this move is a terrible 85%. Yes that means it should hit more often than not, but in Pokemon games you'll be surprised how often anything under 100% misses. In other words, RNGesus deserves a death battle with Missing No.

It really isn't all that great. You, like I, probably watched it s a child, and as we all know kids have lower standards and just having monsters having flashy fights is so cool to a child. But when you grew up and rewatched it, like I did, you notice how many flaws it has: the plot is simplistic, most of the characrers are one-dimensional and unnecessary, the voice acting is horrible (at least in the dub)... the only reason I'd ever sit through it is nostalgia. That's why you should never watch nostalgic childhood stuff, it usually is a lot worse than you remembered XD

As a pokemon fan, I 100% agree with the outcome of the battle ( brutal as it was ) from what I understand Metalgreymon would have taken Zard X aswell. Heck some of the feats in the digimon anime ( I've seen ) give DBZ and DBS ( so far ) a run for its money, how can pokemon compete with that?!, even with its crazy pokedex lore?. Personally I feel embarrassed and surprised by the number of dislikes on this vid any true pokemon fan knows ( maybe reluctantly ) Digimon are more powerful...PERIOD, then again a good chunk of the pokemon fanbase are kids who've had their childhood "literally" burnt to ashes.

You know, I was thinking what if there was a fight between Brain (Pinky and the Brain) and Mad Rat (Mad Rat Dead), but I think that would be unfair since it's not too hard to see that Mad Rat is severely disadvantaged. With prep time, Brain automatically wins by virtue of not having a day left to live like Mad Rat. Without prep time, Mad Rat is ultimately too slow to fight unless he moves to a rythym. That said, Mad Rat could potentially take the win without Prep Time since he has murdered a bunch of rats before, albeit while hallucinating that said rats were insane.

Huh. Reading old comments, I could've sworn Sean lost his mind like 7 years ago, but it was closer to 5. Though, it seems he's always been a bit on the nutty side, though those comments could've been seen as innocent despite being a bit worried. Some of those comments aged _really_ poorly. It seems like he _really_ started to have a problem when people were pointing out the issues with SwSh. A terrible remake and a terrible new entry later... _I told you_ Pokémon was going in a really bad direction. I saw that happening as far back as ORAS and SM convinced me that Pokémon was gonna get worse and worse. Now, I've jumped ship, made Legends my one exception, have started collecting the older games, and have been checking out other franchises and now I'm a much happier gamer.

I've only bought two mainline games since Moon, being Legends and the cheapest copy of Sword I could find just to make a save file to unlock Shaymin in Legends. I agree with this too much. In Pokémon they have established fight rules, measures of safety, and if a real threat comes they can always run. I’m digimon every day in the digital world their lives were on the line. Running couldn’t get them away from 20-30 ft tall beasts. If push came to shove the digidestined are willing to put their own lives on the lines beside their partners. I’m not saying Pokémon trainers don’t have a deep connection with their pokemon but it’s just a totally different level for the digidestined who spent a part of their childhood fighting for their lives trying to survive in a foreign landscape.

It's a funny moment, but it's very telling about the difference between Red's relationship with his Charizard and the relationship between Tai and Agumon. You'd never see a Pokemon trainer deck someone because their pet/slave was getting their ass handed to them.
I like how this fight started because Red tried to steal Agumon, then not appologizing to Tai for trying to steal his pokemon, starting a fight and in mid fight tried to take Greymon and he wondered why Tai ran up and kicked his ass mid fight.

I actually thought of a rational explanation for the radical differences between Pokémon and Digimon evolution. Pokémon, existing in the real world, evolve either similar to how one person evolves growing up, or like one species evolves into another: slowly and by increments. Digimon, being a digital form of life, evolve exponentially like computers do. Just think about how big a difference there is between computers now and just when Digimon was premiering.
Are the differences really that radical for Digimon? Baby Dino becomes adult Dino (with helmet) that then receives cyborg parts. The only big difference is the leap from ultimate to mega really. The explanation for that being twofold. One being that megas weren’t originally a form digimon could achieve in the early stages of the toys, so they had to make them stand out from the rest of their lines. They decided to do that by giving them human characteristics, which is somewhat of a trope in Japanese media.
@@VideoGuy232 No they really are radically different, sure augumon to greymon to metalgreymon is them just getting bigger really but then you look at Gatomon. Starts as a feline blob, turns into a puppy, then a into a cat, then an angel and ends up as a Fish. Also Mega digimon were a introduced in 1998, 1 year before the original anime and 1 year after the original toy.
@@Kepper2605 The first three of gatomons line look like each other, they share the same eyes and color palette, as well as the gold rings. Gatomon to angewoman is a big leap, but after that the other two final evolutions are either ophanimon, which highly resembles an armored angewoman, or magnadramon which somewhat resembles gatomon (similar eyes, quadruped, beastial). Dunno where you got fish from lol.
And yes, a little over one year after the original pet was released they introduced megas, which is what I said. Not sure what your point is there. Wargreymon’s popularity likely set a precedent for armored humanoid megas
@@VideoGuy232 Marineangemon is one of Angewomon's mega paths, thats where the fish comes from. While Salamon is white (more cream really) with blue eyes like Gatomon it doesn't change that it swaps spieces for a dog to a cat, which is a pretty radical change. Magnadramon is a Dragon with blue eyes but thats also a massivly radical change from an angel wearing a mask. Also Nyaromon, Punimon and Putimon do not share colour schemes with Salamon though Nyaromon does have purple stripes on its tail, which Gatomon shares.
As for the time part I must have misread what you typed as to me it seemed you where impying they added Mega's much later. Oddly enough though, out of the original megas there was only 1 armoured humanoid, that being WarGreymon.

If you want to split hairs about the uncommon case where two different creatures don’t look alike, we can apply that to Pokémon evolution as well. Remoraid (a fish) to octillery (octopus). Dewott (an otter) to Samurott (a sea lion). Trapinch (an antlion) to Vibrava (a dragonfly), exeggcute (eggs) to exeggutor (coconut tree), magikarp (fish) to gyarados (dragon). And so on.
Are Pokémon evolutions more consistent design-wise? Of course they are. Are Digimon evolutions radically different? Debatable. They usually follow a theme, and share traits/colors of their previous evolutions. Not always, but usually. There are also just more of them given the number of split evos and extra stages, so it’s bound to happen occasionally
And you are incorrect, the second phase of virtual pets included multiple humanoids: wargreymon, boltmon, metaletamon, venommyotismon, Piedmon and puppetmon.

As Pokemon are unable to think for themselves outside a rampaging stupor. Digimon are capable of a battling on their own and have shown to be able to do so. Look at season 2 when Veemon went up against Starmon. It was Veemon that directed his partner to transform him into Flamedramon as he was the better fighter than his Raidramon form.
Everyone in the comments is talking about the battle when the real focus should be the Marshmallow that was unfortunately killed. RIP to that poor Marshmallow.

You know, even after all these years, I have only just now watched the Digimon Adventure short film that preceded the anime series (as in, as its own thing and not part of "Digimon: The Movie")

Yeah, which is likely why they skipped him, since there was no feasible way for Mega Charizard to make MetalGreymon go up a stage.

No. Maybe the garbage way Death Battle described him since they literally did not list a feat for Charizard better than melting boulders, but Red's Charizard is able to beat Tyranitars who are literally stated on a gamely basis to be able to destroy mountains. He's also stronger than the Charizard on Team A.C.T in the Mystery Dungeon games, who can also melt mountains. Red can even stomp most Gigaliths in the Pokemon World Tournament, meanwhile even wild ones' laser can also blow away mountains. Death Battle did horrible research on Red and it shows in every category.

That and they did fight the year 2000 virus which despite being a rumor was kinda real. Turned out it only broke the date of certain older programs; that's about it.
But in digimon it pretty much tried to nuke japan, america and colorado. Something Red will never dare to challenge.

When a pokemon looses it faints. When a digimon looses it turns into data and reforms into an egg; so it doesn't suffer pain exaustion or death, just rebirth.
That and digimon can have more than 1 line; meaning if they wanted to, they could cut out digimon to make the numbers easier; Pokemon can't do that without cutting the whole line. I bet they wish they thought of this years ago now! :D
That and digimon aren't trapped in a ball. Even when they're in a device, they can get in and out at will and even talk there.

Every use of the move is 1 pp regardless of level in Pokemon, the exception is only if the opponent has Pressure ability which makes the usage 2. Mega Punch has 20 PP and a max of 32.
The actual joke is how they depict Fire Blast, the accuracy of this move is a terrible 85%. Yes that means it should hit more often than not, but in Pokemon games you'll be surprised how often anything under 100% misses.
In other words, RNGesus deserves a death battle with Missing No.

It really isn't all that great. You, like I, probably watched it s a child, and as we all know kids have lower standards and just having monsters having flashy fights is so cool to a child.
But when you grew up and rewatched it, like I did, you notice how many flaws it has: the plot is simplistic, most of the characrers are one-dimensional and unnecessary, the voice acting is horrible (at least in the dub)... the only reason I'd ever sit through it is nostalgia. That's why you should never watch nostalgic childhood stuff, it usually is a lot worse than you remembered XD

As a pokemon fan, I 100% agree with the outcome of the battle ( brutal as it was ) from what I understand Metalgreymon would have taken Zard X aswell. Heck some of the feats in the digimon anime ( I've seen ) give DBZ and DBS ( so far ) a run for its money, how can pokemon compete with that?!, even with its crazy pokedex lore?. Personally I feel embarrassed and surprised by the number of dislikes on this vid any true pokemon fan knows ( maybe reluctantly ) Digimon are more powerful...PERIOD, then again a good chunk of the pokemon fanbase are kids who've had their childhood "literally" burnt to ashes.

You know, I was thinking what if there was a fight between Brain (Pinky and the Brain) and Mad Rat (Mad Rat Dead), but I think that would be unfair since it's not too hard to see that Mad Rat is severely disadvantaged.
With prep time, Brain automatically wins by virtue of not having a day left to live like Mad Rat.
Without prep time, Mad Rat is ultimately too slow to fight unless he moves to a rythym. That said, Mad Rat could potentially take the win without Prep Time since he has murdered a bunch of rats before, albeit while hallucinating that said rats were insane.

Huh. Reading old comments, I could've sworn Sean lost his mind like 7 years ago, but it was closer to 5. Though, it seems he's always been a bit on the nutty side, though those comments could've been seen as innocent despite being a bit worried. Some of those comments aged _really_ poorly.
It seems like he _really_ started to have a problem when people were pointing out the issues with SwSh. A terrible remake and a terrible new entry later... _I told you_ Pokémon was going in a really bad direction. I saw that happening as far back as ORAS and SM convinced me that Pokémon was gonna get worse and worse. Now, I've jumped ship, made Legends my one exception, have started collecting the older games, and have been checking out other franchises and now I'm a much happier gamer.
