I think its her best album second only slightly to along with Good Girl... and a long was ahead of any other (Talk That Talk being #3 but not in the same league) but I dont understand how it defined the future of pop. Nothing on it jumps out at me as being trailblazing and influential when looking back. I think most of the song are strong with only a few weak tracks but don't get the "ahead of its time" thing. The Fame was a bigger influencer on the direction of pop music with electro and retro synthy dance sounds becoming big in pop in the years after.
This is more than 6 years old, FML, time passes waaaay too fast.

True but what hits from last decade of heres would that not be true for? Her songs arent hugely indicative of the era they are from. Some music is telling by how its produced, or just the style, of the era its from. Rihannas songs are produced in a way that doest give away those sort of tells that obviously. I honestly cant think of any song of hers that would sound odd if released today.
