Tysm sir for clear my doubt now I'm understand the concept of NEER and REER. Sleepy Classes hard work is just Superb and all the faculties here is so kind and supportive in nature and motivate to us... Once again Tysm sir for your guidance that help me a lot❤🙏
Didnt get it. plzzzzzzz someone help. How is increase in neer appreaction of the currency. At 6:30 when Neer increases means CER increases which should mean deprecation.
Hi, Increase in NEER => APPRECIATION of rupee CER here is Rupee in terms of dollar. Unfortunately sir has got it wrong here. If you read from the RBI Bulletin, it talks about e/e1. Here e = value of rupee against SDR and e1 = value of foreign currency against SDR. So e/e1 will reflect appreciation of the rupee as compared to the foreign currency. Hope this helps. Otherwise just remember 3 things Increase in NEER and REER reflect currency appreciation. When REER goes up, rupee appreciates, export competitiveness reduces. REER goes up when home inflation is more than foreign inflation.
For Statement 2 - since the question is in reference to Indian economy, & India imports more than it's exports so won't an increase in REER is actually increasing our trade competitiveness?
I have a doubt sir .... Normally As REER increases Currency appreciates.... But, since in REER formula, inflation is also included, as inflation ratio (p/p*) increases REER should also increase and in a way currency appreciates..but generally inflation has depreciating tendency on currency..... aren't these both contradictory??
Please explain how NEER increases is the consequence of money appreciation. Link it with that first formula. Please do not say a simple statement that NEER increases and money appreciate. th-cam.com/video/oUMe_0hSV1M/w-d-xo.html for those who want better clarification...start the above video at 5:05

Hi,
Increase in NEER => APPRECIATION of rupee
CER here is Rupee in terms of dollar. Unfortunately sir has got it wrong here. If you read from the RBI Bulletin, it talks about e/e1.
Here e = value of rupee against SDR
and e1 = value of foreign currency against SDR.
So e/e1 will reflect appreciation of the rupee as compared to the foreign currency.

When REER goes up, rupee appreciates, export competitiveness reduces.
REER goes up when home inflation is more than foreign inflation.
