Many many years ago in Connecticut I found a dead possum in the road went over to remove it from the middle f 5e road and found it was a momma with 4-5 babies in her pouch. I was on vacation and spent 2 days trying to find someone to help me. Finally found a vet tech that took them. What a scary weekend with all those babies, the tech had had one as a pet as a child. Lucky possums because the wildlife people couldn’t care less because they were considered pests. That was before internet, had to use a phone book.
I JUST. Found this little girl possum who was near her then dead mom. I looked everywhere and couldn’t find the babies besides the one. “Sadly looked in momma too” so I decided to take her and see what comes of it. Do you got any tips or ideas on how to raise this type of animal or if I should give her to an animal rescue facility.
Hello, I’m sorry to bother you but I have a question. I have a possum whom I’ve raised from a baby (needed milk and everything) He is disabled and cannot use his back legs and his spine was crushed I think, so I cannot release him. Do you have any tips on how to get his musk smell out of his blankets? It’s so potent it leaks into our other laundry and it takes days to get the smell out of the machine and even the clean blankets still smell like his musk. Is there anything I can do or do I just need to hand wash his blankets and toys separately?
I will say, I have professional training in oral gavage in Rat, mice, pigs, canines, rabbits and hamsters, been doing it for three years, and possums are scarier than all of them to gavage. The jaw shape is so weird, there isnt enough skin to scruff, and they have teeth. I’ve rehabed baby chipmunks and bushy tailed packrats which I thought were advanced, but possums take the cake on trying to keep them hydrated. Great video, I miss Sonoma. 🫶🏼

Idk how old she could be. I’m guessing a few weeks maybe? She’s around the size of a chicken finger 😭🙏🏼 so she’s obv past bottle fed age

Have you tried Poof? Walmart sell it & they say you can spray it directly on a skinny dog or husband lol. Good luck
