It’s unbelievable to think about how your rights and freedoms could be stripped away in a moment without you being the one that committed the crime not to mention the junk science etc that still is admissible today in court…

Your music is fantastic. A lot of people are unaware of The Innocence Project, thank you for bringing attention to it. I use the Innocence Project to help illustrate to the younger and newer officers I serve with the importance of being thorough and not jumping to conclusions. I also try to use it to illustrate the far reaching effects of an officer being corrupt and abusing his/her power.
I am an officer who believes our criminal justice system needs reformed, thank you for using your music to help make positive changes to our society.

I grew up on KRS-1 and Tribe, PE, and believe it or not heavy metal(70’s-95’) and had same/similar messages on social inequalities, government and elites abuse of power…. It’s hard to hear/digest sometimes but if the musicians aren’t putting out a message I don’t want it in my ear!
Hell, messages from KRS and sense of humanity from parents are the reason I was the only white boy driving downtown and volunteering at the soup kitchen after practice in HS and every yr since 1994. Collecting blankets and clothes and walking around finding the homeless and give them warmth and an ear, minus a couple yrs when on deployment. Metal and HipHop with a message helped to make the man I am today! You men (Bryson and a couple others too) are starting to bring back music I’ll gladly play for my twins and maybe my boys will dawn a big heart and sense of community and duty to chance a Purple Heart like their daddies. Honestly I can raise my boys like me to walk a path of morals and ethics laid out in The Bible but I’ve lived a good life and worked hard so my boys can too. Music like this touches souls and can help my boys understand something I can’t purvey as poignantly! 🙏🏽🇺🇸💜
My brother spent most of his life in prison cause he wouldn't snitch. He was stabbed in prison, collapsed a lung, but survived. When he finally got out, he was institutionalized and didn't know how to live in society. He died, 3 years later, under a bridge in Knoxville, TN in a sleeping bag. No ID on him or wallet, nothing! Of course no investigation bc he was "homeless". I know he was killed... the streets are sometimes just as bad as prison....damn...I miss him.

The administration of justice program I was part of in 2003 highlighted how easy it is to get a confession simply by wearing down someone's will during interrogation. Unfortunately, for far too many who are tasked to uphold the law, innocence or guilt isn't a factor, only the conviction matters, even if it sends a person to prison who hadn't committed the crime.
Part of the problem is incentivizing convictions over complete investigations. The focus should always be on following the evidence wherever it leads and let the facts speak. If there is nothing there, there will always be a new case.
Again, Police take the heat but it’s a criminal justice problem… not the police!

They pull the same shit for minor offenses too, happened to my wife...She plead guilty to accusations she did NOT do and was easily proven she couldn't do just to avoid the court system from traumatizing our young son by having to testify in court against his own mother, ended up in jail for 7 days...The justice system is broken, and they do not care who they hurt.

This hits on a very personal level for me. My best friend from my childhood all the way to when I was 35 was taken because they couldn't figure out who did a homicide. He was the closest person they could find who could've done the crime. He hadn't. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison but only served 2 before he took his own life. Wife left him, took his kids and everything he owned the second he was convicted. Best man I've ever known, far better than myself. I lost the only person from my childhood because someone didn't want to put the extra effort to put away the right person. Thank you, Topher, for spreading awareness to things like this and using your platform for it. I will never be able to express my gratitude

More than anything, I wanted to join the innocence project. I looked into UVA Law School and they offer a program to repay student loans through public service upon graduation.
