Well that explains why you asked about the bolts causing the equalizer seeming to be "hanging up." Glad you figured it out. 👍 Hey thanks for the shout-out. ❤ And here I was thinking the frame looked not too rusty. Great video David. Glad to hear you had some help, it's always nice to have another pair of hands. Job well done.
That was a lot of work, im glad to see it held up on the next trip. We noticed you have a lot of magnets on your fridge. We like to collect magnets on the road too 😁.
In my research the only difference in the axles between spring rates 5.2K to 8K is the arc of the axle. Unless your wheels are splaying/leaning, your' axles themselves (not including springs) are sized properly. A bit of advice; pump grease through your wet bolts prior to install. Some of mine were not fully drilled!
Well, when I pumped grease into each wet bolt, only one of them required about 6 pumps before I saw grease come through. The others took 3 pumps and I saw some coming out of the sides.
I see you upgraded to the dexter flex equalizer, is it the one for 8000 lb. Axles? what is your axle distance? 33” or 35”. The reason I ask is I have 7000 lb. Axles as well but my axles are 33” and my equalizer is 6” spacing not the 7+ on the flex equalizer. So the dexter won’t work for me, at least that is what dexter says. The flex 6000 lb flex would work but it is too light duty.
Which is why I didn't do this to hold more. It was to help me have more peace of mind. I think the RV manufacturers under-engineer these RVs, so I just want to strengthen it up a bit
I have a pull trailer and I see stories of the trailer tongue bending I was thinking of finding an upgrade to the trailer tongue my self as well thank you for your support.@@rvfamilylife
@@Joe-fj9kw5bg1v I know what you mean, those A-frames on the front always look a little weak to me. I would go 2 inches thicker and a few gauges bigger on the metal. The manufacturers are so focused on selling a 1/2 ton towable, light RV, and some of the worst decisions are made based on that.
@@rvfamilylife Here's what I recommend for you. Do not use your torque wrench because you can over-torque the wet bolts and possibly damage them. To seat them, remove the zerk fitting and then use a large hammer to drive them all the way into the hanger. Once they are flush, reinstall the zerk fitting. Another way is to put a small 1/2" drive socket on an extension. Place the socket over the zerk fitting and drive the bolt flush. Once the bolt is flush, then retorque the wet bolt nuts. BTW, when I'm installing these on customer rigs, I use a ball joint tool to seat the bolts. It makes it so much easier. Great video by the way.
Your Grease fitting should have been on the inside, my instructions says that and it made sense to me, cause you don't want them getting hit by rocks or full of dirt... nice job, I just welded one brace in the back axle. I hope you give a update on how well they are working for you.
Everything I was reading about the location of the grease Xerxes was that it was my prerogative. I decided I want to take my tires off more often for inspection so I opted to face them out.
@@rvfamilylife cool, I drove trucks all my life, and they have them facing out, so not sure if it's makes any difference, mine our inside, which for is me is easy to get to. Great video by the way.
Ah etrailer . We've purchased from them many times. They're in MO. This looks like quite the job. I'm not a fan of work 😆 Um I'm not even sure what to say about the moves toward the end. I just..... yeah.... um..... ok..... uh.....
Love to share them but can’t figure out how to post them. Next trailer I’ll definitely be adding MORryde straight from the beginning. 2013 and 2019 trailers both had frame failure at the hangers.

Thanks Sean, hopefully you get some more views.
Technical, wow, great DIY and good for you! Hi Daisy. Till next time, cheesebag.
You make me smile, Alan.

Magnets is a Tania thing. I like collecting stickers.

Snapshot said, he's real proud of you. Good Job!! GoKu has nothing on you😃. Nice video.
That makes me happy 😁. Thanks y'all.
As far as the rust issue you can purchase some rust converter spray and then repaint.
Sounds like a good plan, thanks for the idea.
Looking good boss
Thank you. I hope it holds up as good as it looks

what about gross vehicle weight on your sticker I don't think what ever upgrade you put on police will only go by what is on the VIN sticker correct?

Your wet bolts are not fully seated against the frame hanger. You run a real risk of the wet bolt loosening up and coming out.
I was afraid of that. I've been keeping an eye on them. I'll take out the torque wrench and tighten them some more

@@ZonaJim awesome tips, thank you
Need a close up of the magnets on the fridge.
Oh really? Maybe that should be a picture in a post.
Looks like your wet bolt on the rear hanger is not seated all the way
I felt that way too. I've been monitoring them on travel days, not seeing any issues

LOL, hey, thanks for sticking to the end to see my...dancing? LOL. What a coincidence we both have videos this week about axles.
I only saved about $100 by putting my own cross bars in. Welded it myself. The amount of time involved wasn’t worth the $100 savings
Interesting, I'd love to see photos.

Wow, way too much for me.
It was like a big workout. But I'm thankful it's done.
