Andrew, I love your honest approach to reviews pointing out the good, bad and irritating areas. I appreciate it is your own personal opinion but that is worth far more than listening to a 'sales pitch' from a biased worker. Hope you have the chance to do a lot more reviews of caravans and equipment. Your honesty is refreshing.

At the moment Simon, it appears that manufacturers are not lending out their products because demand is outstripping supply. So they need to get product on the forecourts and it's not available to the likes of me. Trust me, I've tried! And I would always rather 'live-in' for a real world proper review, rather than hands-off on a forecourt. Thanks for watching!

Thanks Andrew, as someone looking to purchase my first van this type of review is invaluable, even if I don't purchase an Adria it gives great markers to look out for on any make/model re the table/ shower etc. Your honesty does you credit, others who had been lent a van might feel obliged to "be nice".

A really good review Andrew! I can just fill in two things regarding the annoying things you brought up.
First the shower. I know many people have opinions about that the showers in Adria are not fully lined. I have had an Adria with this type of shower since 2012 and it has not been any problem with it. The seal around the base is soft and allow movement but of course you need to check the condition of it once a year or so. I think the great advantage of Adrias type of shower is that when you leave our caravan for inspection once a year, they can check the back corner of the caravan for water damages. That would not be possible if the shower was fully lined. If you have a fully lined shower and get a water ingress behind the panels you won't notice it until the damage is very big.
Second the different types of catches. I think Adria has been smart and put different types of catches on all the doors and lockers. They have mounted the type of catch that is appropriate to in what way you open the locker or drawer. If you think about how you open the over head lockers its the most natural way to just drag the handle. If there was the same type of catch for the over head lockers as the drawers it would not feel right to manoeuvre it. Adria has mounted the right type of catch depending on which door or drawer it is mounted to. If it is a locker that is going to hold heavier items they have mounted a more robust type of lock.
The positive catches on the over head lockers in the kitchen is something that Adria added 2016 after customers complaining. From the beginning the kitchen cabinets had the push lock as well but they were not strong enough to hold the doors closed when the cabinets were fully loded.
The push locks is a really great way to camouflage the doors so you not see that it is a door first. It really adds to the smart design, I think.
Thanks for the detailed reply. What I would say is that these details are presented not as faults, but as something to be aware of for purchasers. I would argue though that any service centre should be thoroughly checking for water ingress/damp all over the vehicle regardless of the shower cubicle type. All the best.

You touched on a number of good & bad points with this trailer, you are correct in your comments with regard to personal preference. With so much competition in the marketplace, different floor plans, manufacturers to select from, the question really, ' why should anyone settle for a unit that done love?
Most new units are nice, but Airstream always rises to the top of the travel trailer market, period!
Is that a new blanket that Dougal has, very nice!

That was a well done unbiased review, thanks Andrew. My wife thought that the sink and hob should have been moved about a dinner plate width to the left, that way one would have room on both sides to put plates when doing the dishes.
Also we agree with your comments on the table, that would be an easy fix for Adria to implement. And your calling out the problem with all of the different latches was a good one, that would certainly drive us crazy. Otherwise it looks like a well built van with some great design elements.
We have never yet seen an RV where we haven't said why did they do that!

Thanks Andrew, that's a good honest review. Relevant as we're thinking of getting one (single beds one though). For us, the lack of a front chest works because it gives you a bigger double bed when the kids are in the back. As for washing up, that was the issue for me too. It should be dirty pots - sink - clean pots! Other owners seem to like the shower - I'll have to see one for myself. Anyway thanks again and keep up the good work!
Cheers Ian! That's the main point of my style - not to say what is 'right' and 'wrong' but let folks decide if it will work for them! As long as you remain vigilant about the mastic the shower will be fine. And like I said at the beginning - it's a terrific van I wouldn't stop anyone from buying! I'm loathe to give mine back.
Great review Andrew. We've got the 'Thames' layout (the same but with a longitudinal bed) and I think this is what the body is really designed for. In the Thames, the headboard is against the bathroom wall, so there is no 'window instead of a headboard'. Also, in the Thames there is a really useful sideboard under the walkway window, and the mains outlet you could not understand being 'in mid air' is perfectly placed for the top of this sideboard - ideal for charging your phone or plugging in your hair dryer.
Totally agree with you about the flip-up table, not only is it too shallow to be of real use, it is also a bit flimsy - lean on it too much and the hinges bend - ask us how we know! We've also taken to using an absorbent tea-towel for drying stuff!
The Alde heating controller is brilliant, and we really like the 'ambiance' in the Adria, and that makes up for the niggles in our judgement.
Thanks for your comment - glad to know I'm on the right track from an established user! I have to say, I think I would have got on better with the Rhine layout, where the side dinette negates the lounge criticism. But I'd want it in Alpina styling... ;@) And yes, overall it's a terrific van.

Very good, honest feedback for Adria - particularly the front lounge (personally, I've never been a big fan of u-shaped lounges, but if you have to have one, I think I would prefer the version in the continental models). Well done Andrew. It's a lovely 'van. I do like Adria interiors.
Great, really good video, the best transitions! Thats some exited dougal.. My opinion is that for the table, make it a slideout, and make the seat underneath it slideout, (if thats what its called) so you can sit back and relax on your laptop 😃 But the space that it would take up would be pretty huge, but other than that, Great Video!

JamezFlamezz// Peeshooter5 ROBLOX I thought the same about the table. They could place a retractable 2 fold long length table that when folded up, have it retract back underneath that one cushion seat.

Your shower option is undoubtedly the best option. Excellent review. What was they thinking when they designed that 'little' table at the front?

It was fine on the Shuttle... and I still managed to open the door! But if folks walked past (only two did) they'd brush against it so you'd hope they'd be careful with zips etc.

What a very good and informative video review. We looked at purchasing an Adria. Like yourself the un-lined shower area was a red flag. We looked at the other Adria;s (Altea Trent) but the bathroom was too small and not much use really. Also we found a lack electrical points also a let down. We are going to the Show next month to purchase a Caravan. Just like you explained Our choice has been made up by many Factors, Weight, Bathroom, Beds and Price. You and Dan's videos have really helped, so a big big Thanks to you and Dan from us.

Thanks for the review Andrew. I just would prefer two burners to free up the space by the sink. Then the drainer could be perpendicular to the outer wall. Plus I never use more than two burners at once . One piece shower cubical would be nice. Inevitable water damage otherwise occurs. Dougal is just one cool cucumber. Happy trails.

TH-cam "threw this up". Interesting to go back nearly 4 years. I think Adria has been listening, I believe they have added USB points. The shower is the same as in my Action. It's a worry, we used it every day for a month when we had a bathroom refit. No problems it worked surprisingly well, I'm a big bloke, my head touches the roof in the Action if I'm wearing walking boots. The fold-up sink is a clever feature, I've seen it previously on trains. Although the cold water supply leaked from a junction under the toilet. It was fixed with heavy-duty fittings & all done under warranty.
Your comments were well received here, as they were germane and appropriate. I look at skylights differently, however, as in full sun at near 100 degrees outside, they would allow in way more heat than the air conditioner could overcome (English units of measurement, not those in Great Britain). And why a second take; did Dougal smile?
Did you have to freeze frame to see Dougal smile? You're right, it can get really hot with the sun beating through the skylight...but not much of a problem in Scotland!!! ;@)
Enjoyed the review and your honesty. It also makes me appreciate our Brightstar even though it is quite elderly the layout is just what suits us. The site where you are staying in the film looks very pretty, can you tell me where it is? Thanks

Was considering one of these for my next van but that table arrangement and only half-a-hob has totally put me off. Couldn't live with the window behind the bed either. Apart from that I thought it was a great van - just shows how you need to do your research.
I absolutely agree with your view on the better way of ensuring no leaks between shower tray and the shower wall. Same applies for domestic showers. Last thing anyone (who regularly uses the caravan shower as they tend to be "off grid" on a DA weekend or a
THS) wants is for water to be escaping behind or below the shower tray, storing up future damage.
Good review, it would be useful to show how easy it is to get past the bed when it's fully extended.

Great video buddy I think a good review on security on all makes of caravans would be a good topic I think it's pretty poor on the locker compartments especially we're the leisure battery is kept I had mine broken in to and didn't know to a few days later

I think they was after the leisure battery I am trying to come up with an idea to alarm a sensor on the locker doors like something similar to a parking sensor that beeps if you try to approach the caravan lockers thanks for your reply

I can't say either of your deal-breakers would bother me. The lack of socket/USB would annoy me. Just seeing the hob bugs me. It needs to shift to the left a little (maybe that's just me and my OCD)! lol Apart from that I think it's really nice caravan.
That's why I stress these are just my opinion and how things might or might not work for people with different needs and priorities. I agree about moving the sink/hob unit to the left... but I guess then it impinges on work space and a place to put the kettle? For every action there is always a reaction... And yes, it's a REALLY NICE caravan that I don't want to give back ;) Cheers.

In some ways yes, in some ways no... it's a very different beast.
Why do you need all those usb points in a caravan I don't have them at home so I just use the charges what comes with them
For when you are not on an EHU. And to free up mains sockets when you are charging devices. Not a necessity but good to have in the 21st century.
USB sockets .. at least three! If it's a family caravan.

I think you are being over critical with your comments, especially with washing dishes (which we would normally do at the block) but you forgot to mention there is a socket to the left to plug a kettle in, therefore alleviating the kettle problem when doing the dishes. everyone will use electric hook up before gas as electric is already paid for and gas we have to pay for. not very helpful at all.

Thinking it should be mandatory for all other reviewers to look at this review before they themselves do another caravan review. Most reviews would have you believe that every caravan is perfect and we all know that isn't the case. Such reviews are a complete waste of time apart from showing you round but as an objective review they needn't bother. Agree would be good to hear your views on the bed arrangement.
