To think when I was 15 years old (1957) I won a dance competition to the music of Earl Bostic. Those were great times with great people.

When I was 16/17 in 1963/64 my brother who was 2 years older than me used to dance like this until we dropped, when we started dancing everybody else just moved to the outskirts of the floor and clapped their hands until we had to take a breather. This brings back all those great memories.
They all make it look so easy! Love to watch this kind of talent.

All are swingin' it but man alive my eyes are on the best one, the guy in the blue vest (tie) and blue pants front line , he has that IT factor. Wonderful to see so many talented dancers in great physical shape..

There may or may not be “young Americans” among them. The festival was in Germany and the video was recorded in Germany.
I’ve noticed a greater interest in early 1900s-1950s American music and dancing in Eastern European countries than there is here in the USA. Most of the videos of festivals and competitions are from Eastern European countries. I’m thankful for their interest because my small grandchildren love to watch them; we’ve been watching these kind of dance videos together since they could sit on my lap and focus on a television screen.
Some of us in the USA are lucky and blessed, living the good life, but very many are not, and the numbers of those who are not, as well as the new groups making up those who are not (the elderly, those who were middle class, disenfranchised youth, people with college degrees), continues to grow into numbers most of us could not imagine in the 1950s-1980s.
