FPSO Leopold Sedar Senghor has arrived in Senegal in preparation for commencing development on the Sangomar (SNE) field in the deepwaters offshore Sengal. Sangomar was discovered by the SNE-1 well in 2014 on the border with The Gambia. This discovery was made 1 month after the FAN-1 discovery, a basin floor turbidite play. Both wells were discovered by a partnership led by Cairn Energy and FAR Energy. Woodside, having acquired ConocoPhillips stake, now operate Sangomar alongside partners PETROSEN.
The FLNG vessel for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project has also arrived in country ahead of expected production start-up before the end of 2024. GTA is on the border between Senegal & Mauritania and is operated by BP, with partners Kosmos, SMH & PETROSEN.

Thanks Drew! We have had a few requests for GTA now so I think we will do a video on it - definitely an interesting topic. It might be closer to production start-up before we get that one out though.

I wish you could do one about Guinée-Bissau. Apparently they do have off field oil and gas.

We keep an eye on all West Africa developments. I myself was involved in exploration in Guinea-Bissau about a decade or so ago. Not too much to tell right now but as soon as there is news we will cover it. Thanks for the suggestion.

    nice video
hopefully they go for phase 2. i'd expect them to farm down some of their interest before commiting to that though

By the time it comes to FID for Phase 2 the joint venture will have significant knowledge of the reservoir performance, extent and long-term deliverability. In the success case the second phase could be mainly funded out of Phase 1 cashflow, ?offsetting tax liability etc. Having spent ~$1 billion getting a focused partnership it will be at Woodside's discretion whether it would get a better rate of return from Phase 2 or elsewhere in its investment portfolio, we would expect.
