When I was a teenager my grandparents got me a set of john Daly youth golf clubs. They were avid golfers and I thought it was a cool gift. It wasn't until years later when I started finding out who John Daly actually was did I realizing how cool of a gift those clubs actually were lol

Golf actually has a long history of wild characters, albeit no one quite as wild as John Daly.
These players were all known for frequent antics or hilarious personalities: Lee Trevino, Jumbo Ozaki, Jimmy Demaret, Chi Chi Rodriguez.
Probably the closest in terms of partying hard, gambling, and just being an alpha every day was Walter Hagen - "I never wanted to be a millionaire, just to live like one." Walter Hagen did so much to raise awareness many consider him the father of professional golf.

My dad works on the tour and he would tell me stories about how John would go around the course and strategically plant Diet Cokes in coolers before his round
Done some electrical work for him and his wife awhile back. He answered the door at 9am with a diet coke that smelled like you could light it on fire. He was a damn hoot.

As somebody that used to go to work on acid, shrooms, speed, and drunk daily for years, i can confirm its possible to function in everyday activities & work if you manage your addictions to the point they dont overtake your responsibilities.. but they always do. Being sober is the most peaceful choice in the end.
I followed his career for a long time. The guy is certifiable. Someone needs to make a movie about his life.

That was oddly heartwarming. It went from looking like this guy was a total embarrassment to realizing that he was just an iconoclastic genius and philanthropist who always chooses to do things his way. Impossible to dislike the guy.
I have met him in person at a local golf course and im talking low lvl nobody knows course. He is the legit live action version of Happy Gilmore and Ron White. Coolest "celebrity" I have ever met. Asked us for a beer, shot the shit and rolled on. All while beating some of the best ppl on the tour. PGA and its kind HATED him, absolutely hated him on the tour. Dude never forgot who he was and absolutely did not care what anybody thought. LOVE this guy. He still plays low lvl course like the guy next door. OH and what he did to his 4th wife, every man in America should wake the F up and take notes. Remember what YOU are worth. Females get recognition for waking up and taking a shower, you have to work your ass off to even begin to be noticed. Do not ever forget it.
I used to live in Collierville TN, he lived right across the street from me. He was a good neighbor.

Whenever I'm harsh on myself for having an alcohol problem (which I do and have been working on it).. I remember John Daly is out there somewhere.

You know, despite this gentleman doing all the things people tell you not to do, he didn't seem like a bad guy at all according to this documentary. I was expecting worse to be honest. But, there are worse aspects of his life that were left out of the doc.

I love when people do all the wrong things according to society and still win. Good for him. End of life might be a horrible and painful cancer or a massive coronary but this man got to eat and drink and make tons of money, get laid, gamble and break stuff and be famous and rich. I really liek this guy. He’s just out there living his best life. Doing what he wants, not caring what people think about him. He’s also able to take responsibility for his actions and make changes in his life when he realises the situation he’s made for himself(rehap/his comebacks ect) he’s my hero 😂

i used to play a HEAVILY skill based game, to the point were Lv1's could completely and utterly school Lv99's with premium bought gear and i would almost always play after smoking weed. it improved my aim, my reaction time and the ability to predict the enemies next move. a lot of people thought i was hacking and it was hilarious. god i miss gunz the duel, good times.
