  • Mabuhay, welcome to Ganap Suwiso. Swiss happenings right now!
@ Lötschental valley Tschäggättä festival. Intricately designed wooden masks, adorned in fur, cow bells, leather belt, hand and leg warmers parade the streets of Lötschental in Switzerland. The giant monster like Tschäggättä, in droves are iconic from this region of Wallis. In the past it was a courtship ritual by single men in the village. And to keep the tradition alive it has been passed on to generations of men, women and children in recent years. Fat Thursday starts the carnival festivities all over Switzerland. The Tschäggättä in Lötschental is one special tradition one should see and experience once in their life. I have always wanted to see the parade of masks in Lötschental. Happy now that I finally did!
