The spockenspiel reminds me of this idea I've had for YEARS but have never had the production skills to actually pull off: 88 chromatically tuned bass drums set up like a piano, with 88 drummers splitting and playing through classical piano pieces. Anyone who wants to make this happen is more than welcome to take my idea.
When are we going to get a Cockenspiel(a glockenspiel made of chickens obviously), I expect them to be made by Cockmas(Christmas for chickens which is the same day as Christmas)

SHOWERING... Edit: Of course, it's fine by me. My son is gay, currently serving in the Army as enlisted (Corporal) and is now married to my son-in-law, who I love dearly.
My brother and I made an actual keyboard using homemade octobans for the Sacramento freelancers in April of 1981. Drumcorps was in an ever changing evolution and at that time, front ensembles were just getting started. Don Silva was the caption head at that time, and used a small staff by today's standards. He was very innovative, and always looking for new ideas. Having a world class drum corps and being a close neighbor to the blue devils and vanguard was a pretty good motivator to gain an edge. One idea was staging a percussionist in the pit. His name was Billy( don't know his last name) , but remember him being a pretty good showman. Anyway the drum keyboard was actually made appropriate lengths to achieve the proper note by head tuning and length. As the drums were developed too late to get into the show, they didn't make it on the field, and consequently forgotten about. This concept was first thought of and achieved 40 years ago
I want the tenor keyboard to play a tenor aria. It could be something with coloratura in order to better showcase the percussive nature of the instrument - something like "Il mio tesoro" from Mozart's _Don Giovanni_ or virtually anything by Rossini.
Obviously this took lots of planning! Your Labor Day leave at your Dad's house was quite productive! So nice to see so much new content!!!! Drum bike and spockenspiel!!!!
Taiko drum quads or quints on rollers & attached to a harness strong enough to push the drums around, perhapd the use of stilts but for sure with giant drum sticks!🤪

Then 8:55 rolls by and his friend requests Somewhere Over the Rainbow. One of the most notable melodies to begin on an octave; the one they showed us we could remember a P8 by in Music Theory class. "Oh no..." The following bit had me laughing really hard. Add a high C to this and play more melodic stuff in a follow-up video!

All of percussion calls me Bob because I wore an American flag decal hard-hat to our "Crazy Hat Day" at band camp. I also wore it during our final performance (Not competition)
What spacers did you use to attach the spocks to the backbar? And would those work on a mapex backbar? I have a pearl Spock that I need to attach to the mapex backbar(the pearl harness doesn’t fit me right and the pearl drums were the ones on sale). Any suggestions?
Are six inch spocks the smallest spocks? Are there other sizes at all? I want to see a marching spock that can go on a harness. Just a single spock drum. Basically a snare but it’s a spock drum. Also those tiny tenors are awesome! I would love to get a set, but I know that I’m too poor.
You should have used 8" roto toms. Roto-Toms work much better as TUNED drums because the bearing edge is a smaller diameter by about 3/4". It makes the drum head vibrate more accurately. Normally the bearing edge sits a little on the curve of the drum head, so there is some wrinkles in the head that, while removed by tightening, still effects the quality of the drums tone, in the sense of pitch. Like a cymbal, most tom toms have a variation in the tone, as they vibrate because of this. But a roto tom is much more tonally consistent, as far as pitch is concerned. Also, I recomend 8", because 6" roto-toms are not loud enough... Well, roto-toms have been done before... I actually have never even heard of a "Spock" drum! IMHO
