  • Major industries are closing factories all over the UK, but one area in particular seems to be affected more than others. 'Inside Business' visits Liverpool to find out why this may be the case and is it just down to striking workers.

Alot of strikes are down to greed, people getting jobs with a certain pay but deciding they want more

That’s actually not true. They are done by machines, true, but I’d rather people be fairly compensated than be slave wagers

From one extreme to another. Part of the reason we don't have any manufacturing sector left is because the unions went out of control, and they ended up being paid more than the value of what they were producing.

@@whatamalike it's a matter of public record and has been done to death. Rubbish management, no money and union wreckers: they all get the blame. Speke was a disaster from start to finish.

@@whatamalike You don't need to be a Tory to realise that they went overboard and made a rod for their own backs. The proof of the pudding is in the eating and look at British industry, especially the car manufacturing industry and it suffered both from gross mismanagement and trade unions getting too greedy, complacent and in at lest some cases, just lazy. Six of one and half a dozen of the other. ...and NO I am most certainly not a Tory. Ironically though, if there were ever a need for good trade unions, it is now as we are at the other end of the extreme.
