An interesting reflection on the 'Asian Programmes Unit' of the BBC. Budget cut by 50% in the 1990s, moved entirely to Pebble Mill, Birmingham but the head of the department was extended for a permanent contract...
@Abhinav Kaul You guys cause more shit to flow into the ocean than every single living being. You guys have literal shit running into the ocean and it's so bad that 90% of the world's fecal matter can be traced back to India so think a little bit laterally before you accuse others of being racist. That's a statement that excludes designated shitting streets. Unfuck your own society before you call others racists. Some people are just realists. Let's shake on that using our left hand.
I once tried to make my roommate watch a Hollywood movie. Sometime after it began, she asked whether it has songs? The movie was Godfather. I never tried again.
It’s making me so happy to read the comments such as, ‘as usual, british comedy is the best’, not only because I’m british and I’m glad others enjoy our comedy, it’s mostly because I’m so happy that people are acknowledging everyone as british, and not just the white person. It’s pretty unusual for TH-cam comments.
Bharatha Varsham I think it is a satirical poke at the stereotype of Indian and south Asian people in the UK media, exposing the absurdity by "putting the shoe on the other foot" all while being hilarious
Very funny. If you could find an unblocked clip of the probably preceding business meeting sketch of introducing Jonathan to the group, I'd be delighted. Saw it a few years ago, loved, it, and now can't find it (unblocked), again. I loved it because it poked fun at us non-Indians who have trouble with long Indian names (because they are unfamiliar). After seeing it, and laughing (also at myself), I've made a concerted effort to learn them.
He could have meant that in a facetious way with some people thinking white English people are in the minority in certain areas. ......'needing' this kind of support, there for 'approving' it. as a joke comment.
I thought it was particularly absorbing how the British character price was so low. How all became okay once he received an extension on his contract. So, they layer him with stereotypes, then show him one minute being upset only to end up showing the audience he has embraced a stereotype.
Not that anyone cares, but the British / Anglo-Indian community are kinda sorta reduced to stereotypes...bad white colonial villains, or clinical English modern supervillain
@MATHA NOSHTO-MAN america isn't the only place with rich people, other countries also contribute to the global economy, also us outsources a lotta stuff
Why? Because they hit the nail on the head highlighting how asian minorities are still SO poorly represented in the media? Not nice is if if it's the other way round !!
This show was so ahead of it's time.
It's certainly streets ahead
Yet no one yapping about racism or discrimination........(yes, I know this is supposed to be comedy and kind of in a funny way addressing this issue the other way round at the time)
Race relations have only regressed since the freedom to make jokes and satirise like this programme does was taken away.
Oh shut up. They got plenty of abuse from the offended bigoted snowflakes
Not at all, there's just been a shipload of ignorance.
"Have you ever saw a white doctor?"
I lived 4 years in the UK and changed 3 GP practices. Only saw 1 English doctor in all of this time 😂

That’s odd since in pretty much the rest of europe being a doctor is as white of a job as it gets haha
It’s rather odd that you’ve changed 3 GP practices in 4 years!
drcheekyisback Not really, changed home 3 times. I live with student friends.
I live in rural Australia and 90% of the General Pracs here are Indian, Pakistani or Sri Lankan.
Funny because it's true- even over time and distance.
None of your doctor's were from the UK? Most of the ethnically Asian doctors in the NHS are British, because they're from the UK.
This sketch is genius. Just pure genius
"Only 2 hours long- and no dancing!" I got a great laugh out of this! Thanks for posting. :)

Chinar Culture at that play by play is it even satire at that point
Wow thanks for sharing this ! Had no idea
Damn, that's a deep cut
Nice detail. This show had on spot on satire.
This was so clever, I appreciate this even better the second time round.
only 2 hours long- no dancing LOOOL
Why cant we play doctors? I laughed
One of ,if not best comedy shows of the last 30 years
Can’t believe how even after 12 years it’s so relevant here in the US - given all the DEI discussions!
20 years ahead of its time
I think the Americans need to take a hint.
Harry Chittenden Ha-Hoh.

Don't even try with family members 😂.. Our society is not yet ready to accept those..
Only show them the animated ones that too in hindi dubbing 😂
Well, the Godfather does have a song at the beginning, doesn't it?
It has about 4 songs
