well all of their songs are repetitive since matt came, but it's just the style they are using now. You can like it or don't it's up to you, but fact is that the quality of the their songs are droping with every new one they put out.

This song hits hard every time. Came from nothing after my parents both fucking off when I was 16-17. Crawled through a non-stop shit storm of negative comments from so called friends saying I'd never amount to anything. Became an alcoholic and drug addict. Eventually got married to a woman who was another naysayer in my life, always telling me I could never do anything right, always controlling what i could and couldn't do by guilt tripping me whenever i wanted to break out of the negative mold I had created for myself. I lived like that for 10 years. I finally got fed up with all the negativity and bullshit and got divorced, started taking my life in my own hands. Today, 2 years after divorce and thinking my world was ending, I'm working my dream job, and have nothing but a hopeful future of so many possibilities ahead of me. I feel like my life is just starting at 38, and I don't care about that at all. I'm living. Don't give up. No matter how shitty life is and how hard it beats you down, Fight back. Scream if you have to, cry, and take control of your life. Don't let others tell you how you can't do it. Cut those fuckers out of your life and surround yourself with people who believe in you. Even when you don't believe in yourself.

I wrote my college essay on this song and what it meant to me. I got accepted to every college that I submitted it to. About a year and a half ago now my grandfather passed away from an incurable cancer that just appeared out of the blue. He was my father figure, the man I looked up to and wanted to be. He died only a few days after I passed my license test. He was always the first person to support me or give me praise for my accomplishments (something I never really got from my dad). I was 16 and burying my "dad". I'm on the other side of things now but for months following it I was lost, alone and slowly losing my grip on the world. I was never really into music until he died. I remember hearing this song for the first time and it really changed how I saw things. So I dug deeper into their music and eventually stumbled across "Lifetime". I had found a song that made me feel like I wasn't alone in this world. I started to heal, I sought therapy and support from family, even rekindling my relationship with my real dad. After 2 years I fully understand now what the lyrics of this song mean: just because you've fallen so far into the void that you have no idea which way is up or even how to "get up" you just have to keep pushing on. Across "the mountain" of problems that seem daunting, you have too keep pushing no matter how many tries it takes. In the end we only have ourselves to blame for giving up
I saw that show too, I had never seen 3DG before live, to be honest I wasn't super impressed. Still love the band, but they just seemed really emo live and that's not my cup of tea. Plus, on top of that, they only played a few older songs. Not a big fan of the new 3DG music, with a few exceptions, this being one of them.

Abdullah Msaeed In my opinion none of the songs on Human compare to One X. I'm not saying that Human was a terrible album but like I always say it wasn't good. I personally only like three songs on the album. Painkiller, The Real You, and Fallen Angel. In every Three Days Grace album up until Human I've loved almost every song on every album but Human...I only really liked three songs. I'm very much afraid of what the new albums gonna be like if all of the songs have the same theme as this one though.

They're one of mine, too. I listened to quite a few of the "emo bands" of the early 2000s, but Three Days Grace and Evanescence are the only two that really stuck with me. Songs like this are the reasons why.

I think at the beginning it's actually "am I alive just to die another day" but that could just be my hearing. Not that I'm trying to nit pick, I do appreciate people posting the lyrics in the comments, since there aren't many lyric videos of the song yet.
I never realised how many people there are that suffer depression. Me personally, I've always just loved this kind of music since 80s rock/metal music. With youtube and the ability to express yourself it's crazy now how many people use these bands like Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Puddle of Mudd, Crossfade, Nickelback, Saliva, Godsmack, Switchfoot, The Exies, Lifehouse, Coldplay and so many others to relieve their depression. 20 years ago not a thought crossed my mind, I was jamming like crazy to all this but then later in life you realise people have it rough and they look at all that same music in a completely different way. @@loboalcurry Bands change their styles all the time, staying successful in the music industry is all about adapting. *Especially* if you get a new singer, his voice is nothing like Adam's thus the style needs to adapt to fit his voice. He's no Adam, but he's a pretty decent replacement for him compared to a lot of bands that replace their singers.

This song is definitely a powerful one at best. It describes how to never give up even in the darkest of times. I love it so much. 2019 was a dark start for me and this song definitely helps me heal. This song hits hard every time. Came from nothing after my parents both fucking off when I was 16-17. Crawled through a non-stop shit storm of negative comments from so called friends saying I'd never amount to anything. Became an alcoholic and drug addict. Eventually got married to a woman who was another naysayer in my life, always telling me I could never do anything right, always controlling what i could and couldn't do by guilt tripping me whenever i wanted to break out of the negative mold I had created for myself. I lived like that for 10 years.
I finally got fed up with all the negativity and bullshit and got divorced, started taking my life in my own hands. Today, 2 years after divorce and thinking my world was ending, I'm working my dream job, and have nothing but a hopeful future of so many possibilities ahead of me. I feel like my life is just starting at 38, and I don't care about that at all. I'm living.
Don't give up. No matter how shitty life is and how hard it beats you down, Fight back. Scream if you have to, cry, and take control of your life. Don't let others tell you how you can't do it. Cut those fuckers out of your life and surround yourself with people who believe in you. Even when you don't believe in yourself.

I wrote my college essay on this song and what it meant to me. I got accepted to every college that I submitted it to.
About a year and a half ago now my grandfather passed away from an incurable cancer that just appeared out of the blue. He was my father figure, the man I looked up to and wanted to be. He died only a few days after I passed my license test. He was always the first person to support me or give me praise for my accomplishments (something I never really got from my dad). I was 16 and burying my "dad". I'm on the other side of things now but for months following it I was lost, alone and slowly losing my grip on the world. I was never really into music until he died. I remember hearing this song for the first time and it really changed how I saw things. So I dug deeper into their music and eventually stumbled across "Lifetime". I had found a song that made me feel like I wasn't alone in this world. I started to heal, I sought therapy and support from family, even rekindling my relationship with my real dad.
After 2 years I fully understand now what the lyrics of this song mean: just because you've fallen so far into the void that you have no idea which way is up or even how to "get up" you just have to keep pushing on. Across "the mountain" of problems that seem daunting, you have too keep pushing no matter how many tries it takes. In the end we only have ourselves to blame for giving up
When I saw Three Days Grace opening for Five Finger Death Punch in November, this was the song they opened with, and it was awesome.
i remember seeing three days grace live with halestrom in Oshawa Canada and it was amazing in 2015 before the mountain came out
I saw that show too, I had never seen 3DG before live, to be honest I wasn't super impressed. Still love the band, but they just seemed really emo live and that's not my cup of tea. Plus, on top of that, they only played a few older songs. Not a big fan of the new 3DG music, with a few exceptions, this being one of them.

I personally only like three songs on the album. Painkiller, The Real You, and Fallen Angel. In every Three Days Grace album up until Human I've loved almost every song on every album but Human...I only really liked three songs. I'm very much afraid of what the new albums gonna be like if all of the songs have the same theme as this one though.

I never realised how many people there are that suffer depression. Me personally, I've always just loved this kind of music since 80s rock/metal music. With youtube and the ability to express yourself it's crazy now how many people use these bands like Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Puddle of Mudd, Crossfade, Nickelback, Saliva, Godsmack, Switchfoot, The Exies, Lifehouse, Coldplay and so many others to relieve their depression. 20 years ago not a thought crossed my mind, I was jamming like crazy to all this but then later in life you realise people have it rough and they look at all that same music in a completely different way.
